TRIGGER WARNINGS : #jacksonthejackass, fire, angry Evan,
Logan POV
We're trapped.
I watched in complete horror as flames started changing towards us. We ended up cornered in the back of the house.
Talk flames started leaping towards the ceiling and towards us. There was so much smoke and it was so hot.
People were screaming and panicking. I couldn't keep track of everyone. I just held Patton tightly to me and tried to think of a way out.
Remy was desperately trying to break down one of the boards in the window, Damien and Roman moving to help him. But the process was slow and the woods refused to give.
The flames came closer. I clutched Patton to me tighter. I could here Virgil wheezing behind me from a very bad panic attack. Quinn looked ready to have an episode too.
"There's no way out!" Remy yelled, coughing from the smoke.
"Jackson made sure this place was locked up so we couldn't get out," Damien added, now holding his shirt above his nose.
We all followed what Damien was doing, trying not to breathe in too much smoke. Patton was coughing and shaking badly in my arms. Already tired from blood loss, smoke inhalation wasn't helping.
The flames crept ben closer. A few small sparks flew out towards us, singing our clothes. Then the tell tale groaning off the roof above us.
"We're going to die," Virgil chocked out, looking at the ceiling in horror. Roman instantly went to his side and tried to calm him.
"Can we get to the door?" Emile asked, crying and holding tightly to Remy.
I looked towards the door. We couldn't get around the flames. They were too big now. The house groaned again and I heard what sounded like splintering wood.
Roman than grabbed one of Virgil's crutches and started attacking the boarded up window with it. But the wood wouldn't give.
With a loud crash, the front of the house caved in. Sparks and flames erupted around us. Someone cried out in pain, but it sounded distant. Everyone was screaming and scrambling into the corner.
I looked around but there was no hope. The windows were boarded up too tightly. The front door is completely gone now.
The roof started groaning again. We all looked up in horror. I couldn't help but imagine being crushed under the fallen roof before being burned alive.
Suddenly, something started banging on the window we were by. But from the outside. Roman jumped out of the way right in time before a sharp axe case through the wood.
Whoever it was hacked more at the window before there was a good sized hole in it. The person grabbed the wood and pulled.
The wood splintered and slowly broke off. But eventually there was a good sized hole now. I finally saw who it was.
It was Remus.
He started pulling people out. I shoved Patton towards the window. He was our first, followed by Emile and Evan.
Roman jumped out next, carrying the still panicky Virgil in his arms. Damien had to do the same with Quinn.
Remy pushed me out before following me. Seconds after Remy got out of the window, the rest of the house collapsed.
More sparks and flames burst out. We all cowered away from the flames. The flames compelled overtook the house and were now stretching up towards the trees.
"Is everyone out?" I asked, quickly going to Patton.
Patton was covered in soot and some of his clothes were singed a bit. But otherwise he sustained no injuries. He looked shaken and worried, tears silently falling down his face.
"All accounted for," Roman answered after a quick roll call.
I turned and looked everyone over. No one seemed to be injured. All just shaken badly and covered in soot and ash.
"I heard someone cry out in pain," I said. "But no one received injuries?"
"That was me," Remus said, cradling a burned arm. It was a big burn but enough to hurt.
"What happened?" Roman asked. "You weren't in there."
"We heard people screaming and I ran over here. The front of the house collapsed right as I had walked up to it. Just a little bit a fire hit me," Remus mumbled.
Only then did I see Issac standing in the tree line. He was looking at us in an uninterested manner. He didn't seem too concerned with the fire.
Issac looked exactly the same as the last time I saw him. He looked high. A red rash went up his arm but I soon realized it was needle marks.
"What are you two even doing out here?" Damien asked. He was glaring at Issac.
"I had a buyer, the woods are secluded," Issac answered.
"Are you selling again?" Roman yelled at Remus. "Are you carrying now?! Are you high too?!"
"No!" Remus yelled. "Issac does all of that! And I'm not high!"
"Are you on anything?" Roman asked softly but angrily.
Remus didn't answer. Just looking at the ground, suddenly very interested in the dirt.
Roman looked angry. Which was an understatement. It was obvious he was very mad about this.
"You just got out of rehab and you're already using again?" Roman seethed at his brother.
"It's hard to quit!" Remus yelled back. "It's not like weed or anything, just some painkillers. And you don't have to baby me! I'm older than you!"
"I'm more responsible!" Roman yelled back.
The two were up in each other's faces now, both angry and mad. They were about the same height but Remus's heeled boots gave him a few more inches.
"I'm so sorry that I'm not perfect like you Roman," Remus growled. "I'm sorry you're the favorite child. That you're so perfect and everything goes right for you."
"Remus-" Roman said, starting to realize he hit a nerve with Remus.
Remus was about to started yelling back. But Evan darted between the two brother and pushed them apart. Evan looked mad.
"Will you both stop?!" Evan yelled, looking back and forth between the too. He rounded on Roman first.
"Leave Remus alone! He needs you're help, not you yelling at him! You can't just start screaming at him about stuff like this right now! There are more important matters!" Evan yelled at him before turning to Remus.
"And you! You promised me you'd stop using! You know it's not going to help! Thank you for saving us. But you need to stop!" Evan looked furious with Remus.
Evan paused a bit, breathing heavily. He was shaking but not because of the brothers or his epilepsy. He looked furious.
"We're out here in the middle of no where! We were almost burned to death by Jackson! Patton almost died! I almost died! Everything is going horribly wrong!" Evan was screaming at no one. He screamed angrily.
Than he launched into other languages. Spanish, French, Italian, Mandarin, Portuguese, German and Latin. I tried to keep up with him but he was better than me and he was switching between all of them too quickly for me to follow.
We all watched worriedly. Evan doesn't get mad. Sure he gets annoyed and frustrated. But he looked absolutely furious right now.
I think Evan reached his limit.
"Whats he saying?" Damien asked me.
"I can't follow, he's switching languages too quickly for me to understand," I mumbled.
But what I could gather was that Evan was just going off about Jackson. Screaming as if he was here with us. Screaming about Remus and Issac. Screaming about almost being burned alive.
"Could things get any worse?!" Evan screamed at the sky. He was finally back to English.
Almost instantly erupted with rain. It came pouring down on us, soaking us to the bone. It was a heavy rain. Luckily it put out the fire.
Evan screamed angrily again. He turned and kicked a piece of wood by the house. The wood moved maybe a millimeter at the most and it was just laying on the ground.
Suddenly, a rabbit came scrambling from out beneath the house. A few of us screamed and moved back in shock. The rabbit was breathing heavily and burned. It's fur covered in ash and soot.
Evan gasped as if realizing what had happened. He looked incredibly ashamed of himself. He fell to the ground, his skirt pooling around him.
He held a hand out to the bunny. The rain started to let up almost as quickly as it had started. Now just a slight drizzle.
The bunny hopped cautiously towards Evan. But it then hopped into Evan's lap and let him gently pet it. Evan was calm now.
"I'm sorry," He said shamefully. "I didn't mean to loose my temper."
"We all do," Roman said. "It's okay."
"It's cute seeing you so angry," Damien flirted. Evan smiled a bit and blushed slightly. "You're too precious to be intimidating."
"Nah, I think it was badass to be able to speak like that," Remy laughed.
"Agreed, it's quite enlightening to be able to watch someone speak in tongues," I told him.
"To what?" Evan asked, tilting his head slightly.
"It's more so a biblical thing, but the idea of speaking in tongues is the ability to be able to speak multiple languages at once, or at least switch between so many that quickly." I explained.
Evan just shrugged and continued to pet the bunny in his arms. It's also confusing as to how animals trust Evan so much. Especially wild ones.
"It would be best to put aloe on your burn," I told Remus. He just nodded in response, clearly ashamed of himself.
"If everyone's okay, can we please leave this place?" Emile asked. "I wanna go home."
"We're leaving then," Remy said. He slipped his hand in Emile's and pulled him in for a tight hug.
"We should all go home and rest," Patton told us. I pressed a quick kiss to his forehead and hugged him tightly.
Everyone agreed. We quickly all left the area. All except Remus and Issac. They stayed behind for some reason.
Something needs to happen. We need to talk to someone about Jackson. This can't keep going on like this anymore.
