The rare fluff stumbling out of hiding
I need some fluff tonight
TRIGGER WARNINGS :
Damien POV
Everyone was silent. We're all too stupid to think up something that could work for prom. Evan kept telling us to just go without him but we refused to leave him behind.
I was sitting in rn corner of the couch. I had one arm around Remus, Quinn the other. Evan curled up in my lap. He was trying not to cry.
Remus was gently rubbing Evan back. He's really only gentle with Evan and Quinn. Quinn was holding Evan's hand. Trying his best to comfort Evan.
"You guys can go without me," Evan tried to say for probably the millionth time.
"No one is getting left behind," Patton told him.
"You have to go to a school dance," Remy added. "That's like so many memories to be made."
Evan frowned and tried to burrow further into my chest. I smiled a bit as his adorableness. I smiled more when Remus reached a hand across Evan to Quinn. He quickly slipped his hand into Remus's.
"Could you wear sunglasses?" Roman asked.
"Not normal sunglasses. I'd have to get prescribed one from a doctor with special lens," Evan sighed. "And even then, it would just dull it a bit. I could still seize if the conditions were bad enough. And a dark room full of flashing lights is bad enough."
"This is bullshit," Remy grumbled.
"Just go without me," Evan tried again.
"No one is leaving you out of this," Emile said sternly.
"If anyone even thinks about leaving Evan behind for prom and I can and will stab a bitch," Remus threatened.
"No you wouldn't," Roman sighed.
"You're right," Remus said with a maniacal grin. "But who knows what I'll do? I don't even know what I'll do."
Patton and Emile shared a worried look. Quinn has buried his face next to Evan's in my chest. Virgil has a genuinely wary look in his eyes.
"Remus will not be standing anyone," I told them.
"I could," Remus fired back.
"And you're not going to," I told him sternly.
"You don't let me have any fun," Remus huffed angrily.
"I'm so sorry I don't find any fun in stabbing people," I sighed. "Especially our friends."
"This would be cute if you weren't arguing about stabbing people," Virgil said, giving us a weird look.
"This is a normal argument," Quinn mumbled.
"We all have to go," Patton continued. "Roman is healed now. Emile's skull is supposed to be healed by then. Remy...well you still have to wear the brace."
"Fuck all of you," Remy said lowly.
"He doesn't mean that," Emile said quickly.
"Yes I do," Remy whispered. Emile let out a long sigh, resting the bandaged side of his head in his hand.
Everything fell back into silence. No one had any clue how we could bring Evan to prom without risking him having a seizure.
Many minutes passed where no one said anything. It eventually become slightly awkward. But then Roman jumped up from where he was sitting.
"I have an idea!" Roman declared loudly.
"You last fifty one ideas didn't work, therefore why would this one be any better?" Logan asked, clearly getting annoyed with this.
"Because I'm amazing," Roman said with a smirk.
"Get on with it," I told him. I was starting to grow impatient the more upset Evan got.
"Why don't we throw our own prom?" Roman suggested.
"And how the hell do you expect us to pull that off?" Remy asked. He looked tired. But to be fair, it was nearing ten on a Monday night.
"We can use my backyard," Roman started. "We can set up a dance floor and have food and drinks Maybe set up so dairy lights and such. We'd get to listen to our music and just bring some of the speakers out there."
"I'm intrigued," I said. Evan sat up in my lap. There was a hopeful gleam in his eyes.
"Like I said, we can just have our own prom," Roman continued. "We can still do things like prom pictures but it'll be our prom. Our music. We can have food and drinks there. Anyone can wear a dress and a teacher isn't going to yell at us. Anyone can kiss and shit and, again, no teacher to yell at us."
"I think that's the first smart thing to ever come out of your mouth," Remus teased. Roman let out an offended gasp.
"Well now that this is figured out," Remy said while standing up. "Some of us would like to go to bed now."
"Yes, that's probably wise," Logan agreed. "Everyone needs eight hours of sleep a night."
"It's a good night if I manage to get eight minutes." Virgil laughed.
"Same," Quinn and Remy said.
"It's bedtime for you then my adorable storm cloud," Roman cooed, making Virgil flush a brilliant shade a bright red.
"Alrighty, everyone go home and get some rest," Patton said in a loving voice. "I'll see you all tomorrow at school."
With that, Logan and Patton left. Remy and Emile were quick to follow. Remus disappeared up to his room silently. Roman carried and sleepy Virgil to his room.
There's no way I'm letting Quinn go back to Virgil's house without Virgil there. Remus has yet to turn the three of us away and his bed is big enough.
I headed into the kitchen to get some water. Evan stayed on the couch with Quinn and texted his moms he was staying over.
A lot was on my mind. The homemade prom thing could actually work. With no flashing lights, Evan could actually get to go to a dance.
I'm constantly worried about Quinn's mental state. Even thought I know that he doesn't cut himself, or at least hasn't in a while, I've tried to keep sharp things out of his reach.
And Quinn's short so that's been working pretty well so far. The joys of being tall.
I headed back into the living room. Evan and Quinn were a tangle of limbs, the two both falling asleep. I picked them up easily which quickly woke them up.
"I can't tell if you actually like carrying us around," Evan mumbled. "Or if you're just trying to show off."
"A little bit of both," I laughed. That earned little laughs from the both of them.
I pushed open Remus's bedroom door with my foot and stepped inside. Remus was sitting at his desk, his hand clutching tightly to the chair he was sitting on.
Evan and Quinn managed to wiggle from my grasp and to the bed. Quickly returning to a cuddly pile of bottoms and tangled limbs.
But then I noticed something with Remus's arm. It was bending the wrong way.
"What the actually fuck is going on with your arm?" I asked. Everyone looked at his arm.
"Oh yeah, I'm double jointed," Remus answered. "Sometimes it just happens and I don't notice."
"What's wrong?" Evan asked, easily picking up that Remus wasn't happy.
"Thinking about Issac," Remus mumbled.
I walked over to the desk and leaned against it. Remus looked up at me with a sad look. It's weird to see Remus subdued.
"Why that asshole?" I asked.
"He tried to murder my brother," Remus mumbled. "He's tried to murder me multiple times. Just why the hell didn't I see the signs sooner?"
"How long were you and Issac together?" Quinn asked softly.
"Um..." Remus said. "Gimme a second, I gotta think about that. I'm twenty two now. How old was I when I was a freshman? I don't know math."
"Eight years," I answered.
"Yeah, he asked me to homecoming," Remus mumbled. "He was nice back then."
"But then he changed," I finished.
"You have us three now," Evan said, trying to make Remus happy.
Remus nodded a bit at that, strangely silent. I grabbed Remus's hands and pulled him up in a tight hug.
"It's still fairly early," I suggested. "Let's change into pajamas and just sit around and talk for like an hour."
"It's past ten," Evan complained.
"You can stay up for once," Quinn argued.
Remus nodded again and grabbed pajamas. The three of us stay here enough that we all have a pajama shirt for when we stay over.
An oversized Rock on the Range shirt for Quinn. A baggy pink shirt with little llamas on it. Remus and I slept shirtless so I just discarded all my clothes except for my boxers. Remus did the same.
Evan and Quinn stayed at the head of the bed, leaning against each other. Remus stretched out at the foot of the bed and I sat in about the middle.
"I'm guessing you're wearing a dress for prom," I turned to Evan.
"Well obviously," Evan said happily.
"You should wear a dress Quinn," Remus suggested.
"No..." He mumbled.
"Oh why not?" I asked. "You'd look adorable."
"Too revealing, don't wanna show my arms," Quinn whispered.
"Wear long sleeved," Remus said in a 'duh' voice.
"I wouldn't look good in a dress," He tried.
"I seriously doubt that," I told him.
"No I'd be really ugly, a dress wouldn't look good on me," Quinn rambled. "I'm too bony and skinny."
"I'm sure it's not that bad," Remus mumbled while pushing himself up.
He grabbed Quinn and pushed his shirt up a bit. True to his word, Quinn was pretty skinny. In a way I didn't like. I could probably count each rib if I wanted to.
"Satan...you could play xylophone on ribs like those," Remus breathes, eyes wide.
"Be nice," I chastised.
"Sorry," He grumbled. "You're the most beautiful here."
Both Evan and I let out mock offended gasps. Quinn laughed a bit at that and Remus did too. But then Remus flipped his hair back.
"Well obviously I'm the prettiest," He laughed.
"You're insufferable," I said. "And in need of a serious bath."
"I have many problems that I could list, ranked in impotence," Remus started. "And actually washing myself is no where near the top of that list."
"One day, you will actually bathe," Evan told him. "I'll make sure of it."
"Oh how scary," Remus laughed, sticking his tongue out. "You're about as threatening as a baby bunny."
"Thank you," Evan said whole joining in the laughter.
Quinn yawned. Which then caused everyone else to start yawning. It got quite annoying.
"I think it's bedtime," I mumbled.
"Agreed," Quinn said, a leaded crawling towards the pillow.
I picked up my phone to set an alarm so that we wouldn't miss school. I grabbed everyone's phones and put them on charge.
When I turned back to the bed, they had all already cuddled up without me. I turned off the light and climbed in next to Quinn and slipped an arm around his waist.
"Goodnight," Evan said, sitting up. He gave everyone a quick goodnight kiss.
"Love you all," I mumbled, the other tree quickly echoing me.
