TRIGGER WARNINGS : angst
Virgil POV
"So what exactly is going between those four?" Logan asked.
"Remus has crushes on Damien, Evan and Quinn. Damien and Evan like him back and are willing to let him into the relationship. But Quinn isn't so sure," Roman answered.
"This is more chaotic than that time I saw a drag queen and a gay frog fight in that McDonald's parking lot," Remy laughed.
"What the fuck?" I asked.
"The tap water is turning the frogs gay!" Remy yelled all the sudden.
Emile gave Remy a weird look and sat up from where he was sitting on Remy's lap. I recognize the reference so I laughed a bit.
"You are all incredibly strange to me," Logan added.
"We're all a little strange," Remy shrugged. Logan opened his mouth to say something but Remy cut him off. "And no, we don't need your long ass scientific explanation about society's standard of normal."
"Oh leave him alone," Patton defended.
"You are so head over heels for him," Remy laughed.
"So?" Patton smiled, leaning against Logan. "We're dating."
"I remember back when you totally had it bad for Logan," Emile teased, making Patton turn bright red.
"And what about all those times you were totally gushing over Remy," Patton fired back. Emile blushed this time.
"Bean fight!" Remy yelled.
"Bean fight?" Roman laughed.
"Like a bitch fight but Patton and Emile are beans, so it's a bean fight," Remy explained.
"I think that's the smartest thing you've ever said," I said sarcastically.
"I'll drink to that," Remy laughed while holding up his Starbucks.
The conversation would've continued but that's when Quinn came bolting from the front room. He was shaky and was obviously trying to hold back tears.
Quinn ran to me and grabbed onto my hoodie sleeve tightly. He didn't say anything but the look in his eyes said 'get me the hell out of here'.
I looked over at Roman who nodded in response. I then led Quinn over towards the back door. I opened it and pulled him outside with me.
The cold evening air bit at my face. But I know Quinn likes being outside and he seems to be extremely distressed.
We walked over towards one of the huge oak trees. An old swing hung from it and was swaying slightly from the breeze.
Quinn fell to the ground suddenly and started sobbing. I knelt down next to him before eventually pulling him into my lap to try and comfort him.
"They hate me," Quinn sobbed.
"No they don't," I tried to convince him.
"They want me out of the relationship," He continued.
"You have no proof of that," I said as gently as possible.
"Damien asked for an open relationship," Quinn told me.
"Oh," Was all I could say.
"This is literally one of my worst fears coming true," Quinn mumbled.
"Which is...?" I asked.
"They're just saying it so that they can break up with me," Quinn said, a paranoid look in his eyes.
"That's not true," I told him.
"We don't know that," He sobbed. "It'll just get me used to not being around them all the time and then before I know it, they'll break up with me."
"Nothing like that is going to happen," I said. "I know for a fact that all of them love you very much, even Remus."
"No you don't," He mumbled in an accusing tone.
"They've all said it," I explained. "Damien and Evan tell you that all the time. Remus told me earlier today that he actually really likes you."
"Remus is my replacement," Quinn whispered.
"Now you know that's not true," I argued.
"I've been alone, literally my entire life. Then Evan walked in and I finally happy when we started dating. Then Damien came along and we got to know him and actually fall for him before we started dating him. Then I met all of you guys and you Virgil. I have friends. But now they want me gone. Remus is my replacement. No one wants to deal with me anymore. They'll break up with me and get everyone to stop hanging out with me," Quinn rambled while sobbing.
I bought for a few seconds. It hurt me to see that Quinn had been so broken down that he's constantly afraid everyone's going to leave him.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw something...no someone...dart between some of the trees close to us.
Confusing but I didn't pay it much attention. Mentally I promised Quinn they if they did break up with him, I'd figure out a way to get him into my relationship with Roman.
"Even if that did happen, which it won't, I'm not leaving," I told him. "I promise."
"Really?" He asked.
"I promise Quinn," I said sincerely. "You're my best friend. I'm not leaving you no matter what."
"Love you Virgil," He mumbled, nuzzling into my neck. "You're my best friend too."

Roman POV
I watched worriedly as Virgil left with an obviously distraught Quinn. Seconds later Damien, Evan and Remus came rushing down the hallway.
"Where's Quinn?" Evan asked, about ready to burst into tears.
"Him and Virgil left," Logan answered. "Quinn seemed to be highly distraught so Virgil thought to take him to a more calm space."
"Where'd they go?" Damien asked.
"They're just outside," I told them. "And leave them the hell alone."
"What did you guys even do to upset him like that?" Remy asked.
"I don't know," Damien sighed. "Things were going okay but Quinn still isn't sure. So I suggested maybe an open relationship might work but then he got really upset and bolted before saying anything."
Emile and Patton shared a worried look almost instantly. It confused me but seemed to worry Damien, Evan and Remus.
"What aren't you telling us?" Remus asked. I couldn't tell if he was angry or upset. It can be hard to tell the difference with Remus.
"Yesterday while Emile, Virgil and I were helping Quinn after all this started..." Patton said but trialed off.
"Quinn expressed a great fear of an open relationship," Emile finished. "He fears that a relationship like that cause him to feel extremely lonely and abandoned. He say he'd feel left out when you two did things with Remus and then feel like a burden when you two would be with him."
"Oh, I see," Logan said, somehow able to connect the dots. "Quinn's mind has created cognitive distortions that make him believe that an open relationship basically just means you want to break up with him but...let him down easy...as one might say."
"Cognitive what now?" Remy asked.
"Cognitive distortions," Logan repeated.
"I'm not even gonna try because I know I'm gonna fuck up trying to say that," Remy said.
"Why didn't he say anything when I suggested it than?" Damien asked.
Remus looked worried, which surprised me. Evan had silent tears rolling down his face. Damien had a face of pure panic.
"He panicked," Emile said.
"Oh god," Damien breathed out. "I fucked up. I fucked up bad."
"No shit Sherlock," Remy sighed.
"Damien didn't know that," Remus defended him.
"Well, now that you know it's a bad idea, why don't you go out there and make sure Quinn understands that you three don't hate him," Patton told them.
"This isn't going to end well," Evan cried.
"You have to remain positive," Emile said. "I'm sure Quinn will understand if you explain it to him."
"But because of his bad state of mind, he might not be willing to listen to reason right now," Logan countered.
"Not helping nerd," Remus growled, making Logan roll his eyes.
"Maybe you guys should leave him alone right now," Patton said. "He needs time to think."
"Why don't you two," I said to Evan and Damien. "Explain to Remus about all of Quinn's triggers, favorite things, how to help him, and little things." Then I turned to Remus. "Then you could take him on a date, just the two of you, so that Quinn can get to know you."
"That's actually a really good idea," Remus said.
"It is," Damien agreed. "We'll start right now."
"It'll be okay," Evan whispered, a smile finally back on his face.
