Remember me

I have some things to explain about this book

A lot of you guys were commenting about why everyone instantly flipped on Roman when Virgil originally said Roman cheated on him with Jackson

Roman is the most popular guy in their grade and the rest of them are just loners and at the bottom of the social hierarchy

Suddenly he's dating Virgil, an emo outcast, and hanging out with them

Kinda suspicious

So when Virgil said Roman cheated on him with Jackson, they were like oh yea makes sense now, this was all a joke

Anyways

I should die

TRIGGER WARNINGS : talks about cutting and abuse

Virgil POV
It felt as if my eyelids weighed a thousand pounds. I slowly came too but I couldn't open my eyes.

I could faintly feel a hand, or something, resting in mine. Also a dull pain in my entire leg. And a pounding headache.

My grip tightening on Whatever was in my hand, anything to keep me in reality.  I opened my eyes slowly and saw Roman.

"Where...Where am I?"  I mumbled, my voice incredibly raspy.

"The hospital,"  Roman mumbled.

I stared at him for a moment, trying to think, to remember.  But everything from today was nothing in my Memories after seeing Roman...

"Don't fucking touch me,"  I hissed out, quickly yanking my hand from Romans.  "Get the hell away from me."

"No Virgil, this is a misunderstanding,"  Roman begged, I could hear his voice cracking.  "You just saw it wrong."

"Shut up,"  I whispered, I tried to roll onto my side so I didn't have to look at him.  But sharp pain shot up my leg.

"Virgil, please,"  He pleaded, sitting on the bed.  I tried to shove him off but I was too weak to do so.

"Get away from me asshole,"  I hissed at him.

Roman looked at me with a totally broken look in his eyes.  Pain and sadness flickered through them.

He pulled his phone from his pocket and pulled up a video on the screen.  He pressed the play button and turned it towards me.

I watched silently, staring silent daggers at him still.  The video started with Remus in an alley store turning towards Roman and Jackson fighting.

They were screaming at each other and then screaming turned to physically fighting.  Roman had Jackson shoved against the wall, poised to punch him when Jackson kissed him.  I could see the faint outline of myself looking around the corner.  Roman pulled away quickly and started screaming.  Jackson that proceeded to try and force himself on Roman until Roman punched him and ran.

I just stared at the screen in shock.  And then I started crying.

"I'm sorry,"  I cried.  "I'm so sorry."

"It's not your fault baby,"  Roman told me, quickly pulling the phone away.  He moved up the hospital bed and cuddled me.

We stayed there like that for a while.  Me just sobbing in his shoulder while Roman comforts me.

"What...what happened?"  I asked.  "I don't remember anything after seeing...you and Jackson..."

"You don't?"  He asked cautiously.

"No,"

"Um, well, you took all your stuff and went home.  I followed you and we talked and ended up in the forest.   We were just kinda hanging out and things were fine and we ended up at Opal Gorge and you slipped.  You...fell off the bridge."  Roman said slowly, there was pain in his eyes.

"I don't remember any of that,"  I mumbled.

I tried really hard to think, but I only increased my headache.  There was just white blankness in my mind that turned to a grey fuzziness when I tried to think.

"Probably for the best,"  He said, pressing a kiss to my forehead.

"What's wrong with me?"  I asked, motioning towards my leg in a cast.

"The doctors think you landed feet first, which shattered your tibia, broke your femur and dislocated your hip and then you fell forwards and hit your head,"  He explained.  "They suspected you might get temporary amnesia and I guess you kinda did.  But your leg..."

Roman trailed off and looked worriedly at me leg and but his lip.  I felt my anxiety raise the longer he was silent.

"They aren't sure if you'll be able to walk anymore,"  Roman finally forced out.

"What?"  I whispered, feeling as if a bag of bricks just landed on my chest.  My breathing grew frantic as I thought about it.

"You'll probably be able to walk if you do physical therapy and some special surgery to fix your broken femur,"  He quickly added, noticing how I reacted.

"I want to be able to walk,"  I whispered, just staring at my broken leg.

"And you will and even if you can't, I'm not leaving.  I will help you every step of the way,"  Roman promised, pulling me in for a deep kiss.

I nodded wordless, just burying my face in Roman's chest.  I breathed in his scent, trying my best to calm down.

Roman hummed softly and gently rubbed my back.  He kept pressing kisses to my forehead and held my tightly.

"In some good news, you're going to be starting therapy,"  Roman said when I calmed down a bit again.

"What?"  I asked, another jolt of fear going through me.

"Virgil, you need help and you know it,"  Roman said sternly.  "And I didn't choose that.  The doctors saw the scars and based off your medical history, they're putting you in therapy."

I just sighed, not responding.  I know that I need help.  I need a lot of professional help.  But the idea of having to talk to a therapist about everything scared me.

"Okay, maybe this will help,"  Roman tried again.  "Your dad got arrested."

"Really?"  I mumbled, a hopeful feelings overriding the anxiety.

"Yeah, I explained the bruises and your dad was arrested on child abuse and neglect pretty quickly.  Your mom is in rehab now and probably a lot of therapy."  Roman explained.  "You do have to go to court and testify against him next week."

"I can't do that,"  I whispered.  Panic flared through me as I thought about having to talk about what my dad did in front of a judge and jury.

Evan if it meant he got locked away and couldn't hurt me anymore.  The thought of being in a court room terrified me.

"Everyone is going to come with you and we will all be there for moral support,"  Roman said.  "Oh, everyone's gonna be so happy now that you're up."

"Can we cuddle just the two of us before they all come storming in here,"  I asked, giving Roman puppy dog eyes.

"Of course,"  He laughed, pulling me in for another kiss.

But of course, that's when Remus burst into the room.  He flung he door open, making me jump and grab Roman.

"Roman-"  Remus started but paused when he saw I was awake.  "Oh sorry, moms just getting annoyed you were taking so long.  I'll tell her you're awake now."

"Thanks for taking that video,"  I told Remus, giving him a smile.

"Oh, uh, your welcome?"  Remus mumbled, scratching the back of his head awkwardly.

"Remus!"  Yelled a sharp voice, making him flinch.  A person appeared in the doorway that I didn't recognize and grab Remus's arm tightly.

He looked incredibly punk.  He had tons of piercings in his ears, a nose ring, and snakebites.  He had messy brown hair with dyed black and blue streaks.  He was wearing black skinny jeans and a white shirt covered in stains of who knows what.  He had glasses that had a crack in the left lens.  He had arms covered in tattoos and scars.  He had bags under his eyes that put mine to shame.  There were rings on his fingers that matched the bruises on Remus's cheek.

"Issac,"  Roman hissed out, glaring at the newcomer.

"Fuck off Roman this doesn't involve you,"  He hissed back.  "C'mon babe we're leaving."

"Can you go away,"  Roman said, standing up.

Remus tried to push Roman away while smiling awkwardly at Issac.  I just watched silently as my anxiety raised.

"No, Remus and I are going,"  Issac growled, pulling Remus out of the room with him.

Roman let out a long sigh as the two disappeared.  He turned back to me after shutting the door.  I let Roman cuddle into my arms while he fumed with anger.

"I hate him,"  Roman said.  "I don't like him being with Remus."

"You need to talk to Remus about that turn,"  I told him.

"Trust me, I have, he refuses,"  Roman said with an angry sigh.  "I try to get him to hang out with Quinn, Damien and Evan because I know he likes them.  He talks about them and their relationship all the time.  But he's gotten it in his mind that they hate him."

"Well that's a bad situation,"  I said.  "I wish I knew how to help."

"You being okay is help enough,"  Roman mumbled, pulling me in for another kiss.

"Love you,"  I mumbled.

"Love you too,"  Roman responded.
