Polar Opposites, but with some similarities
Patton POV
"When do you think he'll text me?" I wondered out loud.
"Soon most likely." Answered Emile.
"You get to go on a date with the nerd." Teased Remy, throwing a crumpled piece of paper at me.
"It's not a date." I said, flushing bright red. "We're just having dinner with his parents and discussing the project."
"Yeah that too." Mumbled Remy. "Where's our egg babe?" Remy turned to Emile.
"Babe?" I asked with a smirk. Both of them flushed.
"I call both y'all that." Said Remy quickly. "Nothing special if I call Emile that.
"Sure." I said with a smirk.
"Our egg is right here." Emile told him, holding up a little egg that was bundled up in a baby blanket.
"What'd you name yours?" I asked them.
"Carmel Macchiato." Answered Remy, taking a sip from his Starbucks.
"Or Carmel for short." Added Emile.
"Does anything you do not include coffee?" I asked Remy.
"Nope." He laughed in response, taking a long sip from his coffee. He leaned back in his chair, putting his feet up on Emile's desk.
We had come over to my house to try to find me something nice to wear when I go to Logan's. Remy said I need to look absolutely, positively, head-turning, fabulous when I go over.
Hopefully my parents don't find out Remy and Emile were here while they were gone.
My phone buzzed in my hand, causing me to jump a bit. I looked at my phone to see a notification that told me I got a text from Logan.
"Logan texted me!" I screamed happily, jumping off the bed. Emile jumped slightly from my sudden outburst.
"Text him back!" Yelled Remy, as excited as I am. I opened the text quickly, a huge smile on my face.
Logan Hawkins💙 : Hello Patton, my parents have agreed to having you over for dinner. You may come over at 5 pm. We'll be having dinner around 6 pm.
'Sounds amazing! 😁 I'll be over shortly I can't wait to meet your parents!!! And see Squiggles again!!! 😃'
I read the text to Remy and Emile while typing out my response. I was jumping up and down unable to contain my excitement.
"Okay, we need to get you looking fabulous!" Said Remy, getting off his chair and walking over to my closet.
He started rummaging through all my clothes sighing and mumbling to himself.
"Don't you own like any crop tops?" Asked Remy, turning around to me.
"No..." I told him bashfully. He sighed but returned to rummaging through my closet.
"Here ya go hon." Said Remy, flinging a shirt at me. I held it up to get a look at it. It was a white shirt with little cartoonish cacti on it. A soft pink sweater landed on my head. I pulled it off my head and laughed.
"Here." Emile said while handing me a pair of light blue jeans. Than he handed me my bubblegum pink converse.
I walked over to my bathroom and stepped inside. I turned to the mirror and started pulling my clothes off. I set my glasses on the counter and started pulling on my new outfit.
I put my glasses on when I was done. I had to admit, Remy was good at putting outfits together. I smiled at myself in the mirror and wrapped the sweater around my waist.
I walked back out into my room, posing like a run way model.
"Gurl you look fabulous." Remy praised.
"It looks amazing Patton." Emile agreed with a smile.
"Logan doesn't stand a chance." Smirked Remy. Than he held up my small light blue messengers bag, that was covered in Disney patches and pins. "Forgetting something though?" He asked with a laugh.
"I need to pack a bag of stuff for Squiggles!" I said, shocked with myself I forgot. I could pretty much tell that Logan wouldn't know how to properly care for our egg.
I put a small blanket into the bag, along with a small shoe box. I threw in some markers and a sticker sheet for decorations.
Once I was done, we all simultaneously looked over at the clock. It was almost 4:45.
I smiled brightly, jumping up and down slightly.
"Let's go!" Said Emile, almost as excited as I was.
Remy stood up, swinging his car keys around his finger. He led the way downstairs and too the garage. Emile and I followed, giddily talking about what might happen tonight.
Remy stopped at his car and turned to Emile and I. He set his coffee down and raised his sunglasses to sit on top of his head. I shared a look with Emile. Remy only takes his sunglasses off outside when it's serious.
"Patton, if Logan does anything call me or Emile immediately." He told me sternly. "And we'll come pick you up."
"Logan's a sweet guy." I told him. "Nothings going to happen. Besides, it's just for a project. It's not like it's a date." Remy sighed and pushed his sunglasses back down.
"Fine." Remy said, hoping into the front seat. I got into the passenger seat, Emile climbing into the back seat.
I told him Logan's address. We arrived in roughly 10 minuets. Emile and Remy both let out gasps when we pulled into Logan's driveway. I just stared in shock and awe.
His house is fluffing huge! We were driving up a long gravel driveway that led up to a very big, modern styled house.
We reached the front door. I was honestly afraid to get out of the car. This seemed like a very fancy and expensive house full of breakable experience stuff. A clumsy person like myself doesn't belong in these types of houses.
"Hurry it up." Said Remy, nudging me out of the car.
"What are you two going to do while I'm gone?" I asked them, trying to ignore the butterfly's in my stomach. I pulled my messenger bag over my shoulder and clutched the strap in my hands.
"I have plans." Remy said, smirking back at Emile. "Now go! We'll see you in a few hours."
"Good luck!" Emile called as I shut the door. I smiled nervously and waved to them. I turned to the door, hearing Remy drive away.
I took a deep breath and walked up the front steps. I knocked on the door and waited. I heard the door unlock. It opened and Logan stood there. I couldn't help but smile brightly when I saw him.
He was wearing black pants and a blue button up shirt. The sleeves were rolled up, exposing his forearms. Surprisingly enough, he wasn't wearing a tie. He always wore one at school, so I guess I kinda assumed he wore one at home too.
"Greetings Patton." Logan said with a gentle smile.
"Hi Logan!" I said excitedly.
"Come on in," He said, stepping back into the hallway. I stepped inside the house and looked up in surprise. I was in a huge foyer, with a giant chandelier. A huge staircase to the left led upstairs. Everything in the house was either black, grey, or white. There were no other colors.
"Dinner will be ready within the hour." He informed me. "But I'd prefer if you met my parents now while they're in a good mood."
"Okay." I told him, giving him a huge smile. Logan headed down the hallway, I followed him quickly.
We entered a room that didn't seem to match the modern style of the rest of the house. It was a old fashioned library of sorts. There was a huge wooden desk at the far end of the room.
At the desk sat a man. He was wearing a dark blue suit. He had black hair that was starting to grey. He seemed to be working intensely on something. A woman wearing a white long sleeved dress was sitting in a chair reading a book. She had her brown hair pulled back in a tight bun.
"Hello Mother. Hello Father." Logan said, getting their attentions. "My friend Patton is here, and I'd like to introduce you." Friend? My heart jumped when he said that.
"How nice of you Logan." Said the woman while sitting her book down. She stood up and walked over to us. I smiled brightly at her. She looked me up and down disdainfully. My smile falter a little bit, which Logan noticed. He glared at his Mom.
"My name is Mrs. Hawkins." She said, holding her hand out to me. I shook her hand, not noticing that the man, who I presumed was Logan's Dad, had walked over.
"And my name's Mr. Hawkins." He said in a gruff voice. He didn't bother trying to hide it. It was clear he wasn't a big fan of me. He didn't reach out to shake my hand.
"Oh...umm I'm Patton Emerson." I said, smiling brightly again.
"It's nice to meet you Patton." Logan's Mom said, forcing a smile. I faintly heard Logan sigh.
"Call for us when it's time for dinner." He said, turning on his heels. He grabbed my arm and pulled me behind him.
I stumbled a bit, but regained my balance quickly.
I followed Logan over to the stairs. Logan let go of my arm once we started heading upstairs. I frowned a little at the loss of his hand on my arm.
We headed down the hallways towards the end. Logan opened the very last door and stepped inside. I followed him into his bedroom, heading Logan shut the door behind us.
Based on the rest of the house, I expected Logan's bedroom to be big. But it was the size of an average bedroom.
He had soft white carpet and blue grey walls. There was a bed with grey and dark blue blankets and pillows. There were two large bookshelves, one on either side of the bed, that were overflowing with books and papers.
On the other side of the room was a messy desk. It was an absolute mess. Above it was a bulletin board and a calendar. There was nerdy posters hanging around the room, along with diagrams and lots of space related photos.
There was a huge window across from the door. A big fancy telescope was set up with a dark blue bean bag chair.
"Ya know," I said, turning around to face him. "I didn't expect you to have such a messy room." Logan blushed, his eyes darting around his room. I laughed.
"My apologies." He said quickly.
"It's fine. I really like it." I told him. "It's not near as bad as my room." I ended with a laugh. He looked up at me with a smile.
"I also apologize on behalf of my parents." He told me.
"Are they always so..." I paused, looking for a nice way to say it.
"Cold, unemotional, closed off, strict?" Logan finished for me. Logan nodded slowly. "That's just who they are." He said with a sigh.
"I'm sorry." I told him gently. "I get what it's like to have emotionally distant parents."
"Really?" He asked.
"Yeah, my parents are never home." I explained. "Always some business trip. So didn't really get to do fun family stuff, especially as I got older."
"I'm sorry Patton." Logan said softly.
"It's fine." I told him, returning to my happy self.
"Would you like to work on the project?" Asked Logan.
"Yeah!" I said excitedly. "Where's Squiggles?"
"Over there." Logan said while pointing to his desk. I skipped over to his desk to see Squiggles just sitting on the desk. I let a dramatic gasp.
"You just left our child out on the desk?!" I asked him in mock shock. I looked over at him and burst out into laughter. Logan smiled, seeming to be trying to keep himself from laughing.
"I wasn't sure what exactly to do with it." Explained Logan walking over to me.
"It?!" I yelled, trying to keep myself from laughing again. "Our child is not an 'it'!"
This time, Logan laughed.
Logan POV
I felt my heart start beating faster as I looked at Patton. Something about how he looked right now made me feel weird but in a happy but embarrassed way.
He had his head tilted back slightly as he laughed. He eyes were almost shut. He kept glancing over at me, his cheeks turning a rosy shade of red.
There was just something about the way his glasses perfectly framed his small round face, bringing out the specks of gold in his brown eyes and the freckles covering his cheeks.
I don't understand this feeling. What is this feeling? This can't be a crush can it. I'm not homosexual...right?
"Have you done anything to care for Squiggles?" He asked me, snapping me out of my thoughts. My face flushed when he looked over at me. He laughed again, which was a beautiful sound.
"Not really." I admitted. "I wasn't sure how to care for it."
"Good thing I guessed you'd have no clue how to care for Squiggles in my absence." Patton said, picking up the egg gently.
He walks over to my bed and set Squiggles on it. He than pulled his bag off and placed it on my bed before hoping on too. I sat down across from Patton, at the head of my bed.
Patton picked up the bag and dumped all the contents onto my bed. He smiled at me and picked up the empty shoe box that had been painted light blue.
"We need to make Squiggles a bed." He told me giddily. He grabbed a dark blue marker and wrote 'Squiggles' on the side of the box.
He kept changing marker colors and doodled all sorts of pictures onto the box. He was doodling little hearts, flowers and swirls everywhere. I couldn't help but watch as Patton worked on the little drawings.
"How does it look?" He asked, holding it up so I could see it. He had a huge grin on his face.
"It looks very nice." I told him.
"Sticker time!" He squealed, grabbing the sheet of stickers. He picked a few off before passing me the sheet of stickers. I had to admit, he looked adorable as he worked on carefully putting the stickers on.
I noticed the way he tilted his head slightly and bit his lip as he worked. The way his hair would fall down in front of his face. Something inside me wanting to tuck his hair behind his ear. He passed me the box and I started adding more stickers.
"It looks perfect!" Patton decides, pulling it from my hands. He pushes the little blanket into the box before setting Squiggles down on top.
"Look how cuuuttteeee Squiggles looks." Said Patton, putting his hands on the sides of his face.
"Squiggles does indeed look quite adorable in his new bed." I agreed. Patton smiled brightly again. I smiled with him.
We stared at each other for a few seconds. Time seemed to stop as we looked at each other. His eyes were beautiful.
We both jumped as my phone buzzed. I grabbed my phone, cursing it in my mind for ruining the moment.
"My mother says it's time for dinner." I told him. Patton got off my bed without saying anything.
I got off the bed and headed downstairs, heading Patton behind me. I hope my parents are at least nice to Patton during dinner.
