Emotions are for children

Patton POV
My heart was pounding with excitement as I waited for Logan to come pick me up for our date. Things are finally starting to look up.

Remy and Emile were over again this morning to help choose an outfit for me. Light blue jeans, a blue T-shirt with pink converse.

But now I tapped my foot against the floor, anxiously waiting for Logan to arrive. I suggested many things for our date but Logan told me not to worry about it. That he had it all under control.

My phone dinged, alerting me to a message from a group chat. It came from my group chat with Remy and Emile; Pastel Coffee bois

I jumped as the doorbell rang.  I smiled, getting extremely giddy.  I jumped up off the couch and ran to the door.

Remy☕️ - but tell me if he tries any shit ok you and I'll fight him

Remy☕️ - no go have fun I have an adorable bf to go find and make out with

Emile💛 - remy!

I laughed and turned off my phone.  Those two always get into adorable arguments like that.

I opened the front door to see Logan standing there.  He was tensed up a bit against the cold, wearing a dark blue fleece jacket.  Otherwise he had dark jeans, a dark blue button up shirt.

"Hey Logie!"  I said excitedly, smiling brightly up at him.  Logan smiles down at me.

"Salutations Patton,"  He greeted me in a more calm manner.

"Lemme just grab my jacket and we can be on our way,"  I told him with a smile. I grabbed a white fleece off the banister and pulled it on.

"Let me," Logan said under his breath with a sigh.

"Where are we going?" I asked him, letting me lead him down to his car.

"We will first stop at Coffee and Cream to get some coffee," Logan told me. We both got into the car, Logan starting it quickly because of the cold.

"Then what?" I asked excitedly.

"We will be visiting the Zoo in the city," He told me. "Then I planned to go to Max & Ermas for dinner since I know that restaurant is a favorite of yours. After dinner we could 'hang out', as you would say it, at either of our houses."

"That sounds amazing Logan!" I told him. I bounced excitedly in my seat. I haven't been to the Zoo in forever!

"Remy and Emile helped me plan it," He admitted sheepishly. "I was unsure of what exactly you would like for a romantic outing."

"Well you did a good job," I told him with a smile. Logan got a self satisfied smirk on his face. I can tell he likes being told that he's right.

"Can we listen to some music since it takes like forty fives minutes to get to the Zoo?" I asked him. Logan nodded, but his eyes narrowed a bit.

"We're gonna listen to The Lumineers," I told him, starting Ophelia. Logan just nodded again, keeping his eyes on the road while I daydreamed while looking out the window.

"Two please," Logan said, handing the Zoo attendant the money. I practically skipped inside the gates once Logan finished paying for us.

I tried to help pay, offering it multiple times, but Logan refused. He said he should be the one paying.

"We have to visit the polar bears first!" I told Logan, grabbing his hand and pulling him along with me.

Logan laughed at my excitement, trying his best to keep up with me. The polar bears were on the other side of the Zoo, so it took us a while to get there.

Since it was cold and cloudy, the Zoo was fairly empty. It made it easy to get around and view the animals better.

My smile only grew as we reached the polar bears. I pressed my hands against the glass, looking into the dark water.

I gasped lightly as a large polar bear swam by. Logan stood next to me but kept his hands in his pockets.

"They're so...majestic," I breathed out, watching as the jumped in and out of the water.

"Majestic is one word to describe them," Logan said, nodding along ever so slightly.

"How would you describe them?" I asked him.

"Smelly," Logan answered, wrinkling his nose. I burst out laughing. I slipped my hand into his again and dragged him away from the polar bears.

"I wanna see the manatees," I told him, giving him puppy dog eyes.

"We can see whatever animal you want," Logan told me.

"A baby dinosaur?"

"Within reason," Logan laughed. "I'm afraid dinosaurs are extinct."

I laughed a bit too, dragging Logan along with me to the manatees. I always loved seeing them when I was younger.

I smiled, again pressing my hands to the glass. I watched as a manatee lazily swam past, going after a head of lettuce.

"Where are all the lions and giraffes?" I asked Logan, since he had a map.

"They shut down the African wildlife exhibit once it gets too cold," He told me, making my smile fall.

"Oh," I mumbled, trying to think of another animal I would like to see.

"Fret not Patton, I have the perfect animal to fix this," With that, Logan grabbed my hand and pulled me along.

I smiled, racking my brain to think of what animal Logan could be taking me to. Flamingos? Bears? Tigers? Moose?

"These are Canadian Marble Foxes," Logan told me, stopping at the edge of an enclosure. I gasped.

"They're so cute!" I squealed, all sadness about the African wildlife exhibit being gone as of now melted away.

They where little foxes with white fur and black splotches and stripes. They were beyond beautiful.

"I want one," I said, grabbing Logan's arm. "Logan I want one."

"I'm afraid you can't have a wild fox as a household pet," Logan told me with a soft smile.

"Worth a shot," I laughed with a shrug.

"They are extremely pretty foxes," Logan commented.

"They're so tiny and cute!" I said, bouncing on my feet again.

"Almost as much as you," Logan breathed, probably thinking he was too quite for me to hear. But I heard him loud and clear.

"It's so late!" I complained. "I'm hungry!"

"Well we would have been here earlier if you hadn't begged me to ride the carousel five times," Logan sighed.

"The merry-go-round is fun," I defend. "But now I'm hungry."

"The waitress will be here soon to take our order," Logan told me again. I sighed, looking over the menu again.

Finally the waitress came back. She smiled and started taking our order. I got the Erma Burger and Logan got the turkey swiss burger.

"Are you enjoying everything so far?" Logan asked me. I smiled and nodded fervently.

"This is the most fun I've ever had!" I exclaimed.

"I'm glad you're enjoying yourself," He told me with a soft smile.

"Thank you so much Logie," I said.

"You're very welcome." He said back.

A loud crack of thunder split the sky the second Logan and I excited the restaurant. My eyes widened a bit.

"Pity it'll rain on our date," Logan grumbled.

"I hate storms," I grumbled, quickly hurrying to Logan's car.

Logan followed me, getting into the car too. I shuddered a bit, watching as the sky lit up with lightening.

"The storm can't hurt you Patton," Logan assured me again.

"I know," I mumbled. "I still don't like it."

Logan didn't say anything.  He started the car and drove me home.  We road back in silence.  I closed my eyes, trying not to look at the storm outside the car.

A little bit of sadness filled me as we pulled into Emile's driveway.  I didn't want tonight to be over.

"I thought you said we'd have a movie night."  I said.

"The powers out,"  Logan told me.  I looked out the window to see that there wasn't a single light on.  "There's no way for us to watch a movie right now."

"Guess we'll have to reschedule?"  I asked hopefully.

"I would much enjoy that,"  Logan told me with a smile.

I smiled back.  We fell back into silence, just staring at each other.  It was happening again.

It was like living through it all over again.  We both leaned forwards, Logan resting his elbow on the seat divider.

Before Logan could pull away again, I grabbed his shirt collar and slammed his lips onto mine.  It wasn't exactly how I imagined my first kiss, but it was Logan at least and that made me happy.

I let Logan pull away however.  He stared at me in shock.  I was a little surprised with myself, I'm never like that.

"Was that okay?"  I asked softly.

Logan responded by softly grabbing my chin to pull me in for another kiss.
