4. Her Return
Your whole body trembled as you took a step back, your lips parting while you tried to process everything. Your eyes stayed glued to the unconscious body that lay on the floor, blood gushing out and staining the expensive white carpet underneath.
‘I killed him’
Your cheeks were already wet from previous tears. Your silk pajama button up shirt torn open at the top, revealing your tank top right under it.
Your hands continued to shake in the air, your eyes falling on the bloody knife that you held onto tightly.
‘I killed him’
You shifted your gaze to the camera that looked down on you from the corner of the ceiling, fresh hot tears making their way down your cheeks.
Your throat felt dry, yet you tried to find your voice to speak.
“Did you see that? Do you believe me now?” you spoke to the camera. “You didn’t believe me for years, YOU DIDN’T BELIEVE YOUR OWN DAUGHTER!” you screamed, your heart aching. “I TOLD YOU, I TOLD YOU THAT HE WAS ABUSING ME - RAPING ME, BUT YOU WOULDN’T BELIEVE ME” your whole body felt weak, like you were going to collapse any moment. You took another trembling step back from the body that lay on the floor, your gaze falling to the ground “No one ever believed me” you whispered.
“Mom?” a small voice reached your ears, causing your heart to drop.
‘Eun’
You dropped the bloody knife in your hand, rushing to the small figure that stood next to her room door. Tears were pooling in her eyes, tears of fear.
You cupped her cheeks, the blood on your hands smearing onto her cheeks.
“Are you alright?” you asked with a trembling voice, staring deep into her bambi eyes as she nodded. Her eyes looked past you and fell on the body and you followed.
“We have to go” you muttered before turning back to her. You stood up and took her hand, bringing her to the washroom to wipe her face. “I want you to pack everything you need into your suitcase okay baby? Can you do that for me?”
Eun nodded hesitantly.
“Everything’s going to be alright, okay, believe me. Now quickly do as I say.”
You let her go and watched as she hurried into her room. You turned back to the mirror in front of the sink and stared into your reflection.
You held tightly onto Eun’s hand as she followed you through a crowd of people in the airport, your suitcase and bag on your other hand.
“Doors to flight 3F1 flying to South Korea are now open at gate D7. To all passengers boarding, please make your way to gate D7.” the announcement was heard throughout the entire airport.
You walked in the direction of the gate you spotted in the distance, a few people already gathering in a line in front of the doors.
You handed your passports to the lady at the desk, waiting for her to approve of them before walking into the airplane. You watched and waited for Eun to fall asleep on the seat next to you, and eventually she did. You observed every detail of her face, from her closed eyes to her pink lips, all reminding you of someone in particular, someone you thought of each and every day.
Sniffing and holding back your tears, you took out the leather book hidden in your bag, a seashell falling out with it. You grabbed the shell and held it tightly in your hands, gazing at it for a moment before turning the pages of the book until you stopped on the date of that day.

'Hand her over to her father'
You wrote down the few words, staring at them for a few seconds before closing the book and placing it back in the bag.
It was a matter of time until the police found you and charged you for murder, and before they did, you knew you had to do what's best for your daughter.

The shine in Jungkook's eyes from before disappeared completely, leaving a darkness that you've only seen once before. It was a dark fire that was fueled by heartbreak, betrayal, hurt— every emotion that made one feel as if their heart was chewed up and spat out.
His blood was boiling, his eyes seeing nothing but red. He could feel all the emotions that he felt years ago coming back to him at the sight of you. Yet, a part of his heart was melting—beating faster once getting a glimpse of you once again. Maybe he didn't hallucinate during the wedding at all, maybe you really were there.
Jungkook rose from his seat, ignoring the confused look that his best friend was giving him at the sight of his dark eyes.
"What is she doing here" his voice came out commanding, the anger clearly evident.
"Like I said, she's a friend of mine, she came to visit—"
"Get out."
"What?" Taehyung was taken aback from his sudden words, watching as Jungkook took a step closer, his brows narrowed.
"Get her out of my sight." he growled.
Taehyung took a step forward, his own brows furrowed.
"I don't know what's going on with you, but you can't just treat her like that Jeon."
"Taehyung." Jungkook gritted his teeth, glaring at the man in front of him. Returning his stare, Taehyung grabbed your wrist, turning to leave, but you pulled your arm out of his grasp.
You had been watching the two men with trembling hands, unable to take your eyes off the man that stared at you as if he hated you with his whole being.
Had your love really died that quickly in him?
Squeezing Eun's smaller hand in yours you stepped towards Jungkook, knowing it was time.
It was time to get over what you had actually come for.
Jungkook's eyes landed on your smaller figure, a burning fire still flickering in them, but for a moment they seemed to soften before disappearing without a trace.
Your face white, body trembling, you tried with all your strength to keep your calm and speak, but it felt so difficult.
"I came here to bring you your daughter." you managed to let out, gazing deep into his eyes.
Everyone around you hushed, eyeing the both of you who stood across from each other.
Jeon Jungkook felt the fire within him dim for a moment as he was struck by the news and took a step back. His eyes trailed from the ones that he once adored, the ones that he once felt that he could burn the entire world down for, and insead noticed the small figure that held onto her mother’s hand tightly.
It couldn’t be.
It had been eight years now, but eyes that looked just like his stared up at him with a frightened look.
For a moment he felt the storm within him come to a halt, and he was left staring wide eyed at his once lover in front of him that stared back as memories began trickling in. Memories that he had been yearning for, yet tried to forget. The ones that were made in a summer filled with love before the winter had come.
He stared at you, searching your orbs as your face just grew paler and weaker, exhaustion and stress finally kicking in as the weight bearing you down for eight years had finally been lifted. Your surroundings grew dizzy, doe eyes never leaving your sight. Unable to hold it anymore, you were soon collapsing right into his arms.
