Special Delivery

Annie sat at her desk,

writing a letter to Brody Delaney.

She nibbled on the end of her pen

knowing they couldn't go back again.

He had Bella and she had Bart,

but she still had his paper heart.

Into the envelope went the letter.

Annie slipped the paper heart in after.

A little wrinkled now, but still intact.

It was a miracle it had survived, in fact.

The next time she left the boat,

she posted the note

and left it at Brody's hotel room door.

Brody couldn't take anymore

Arrived at his room and found, a note on his door.

Written in Annie's flourishing script

Though exhausted, curiosity made him open it.

Inside the said,

Brody sighed at what he read.

Too many thought going through his head.

But before he allowed himself to go to bed.

He decided to jot down a reply

Not daring to examine why

He looked at the trampled

but otherwise perfect heart

And suddenly tore off a part

He hoped Bart appreciates all he's gained.

He went down to the front desk

Asked that the sealed letter be

Delivered to the Annie on the

Liberty Belle.

"What's done is done.

Time for some rest."

God, he felt like hell.
