Fishin' Therapy (Uncle Bigbee) - MystresMyna
Fishin' Therapy
Down on the banks,
Of the slow rollin'
PatchiFishin' pole in hand,
Your mind can be set free.
Lorne needs some time,
Away from the throng;
So he can stop thinkin'
'Bout all that could go wrong.
I got some nightcrawlers,
And stinky raw meat,
A bit of bread and cheese,
Everything them ol' catfish like to eat.
The baby is due soon,
We're all counting the days.
But Lorne is lookin' frazzled,
I believe I can remove his malaise.
"Come on Lorne!
Today you're with me!
The Mrs. packed a basket,
Brewed a jug of sweet tea!
I got plenty of bait an' poles
Let's head on down to the Patchi."
"That's a mighty fine offer,
Uncle Bubba,
But I just can't get away.
I have work to do,
And the baby coming any day."
"I wasn't askin', Son,
You don't have a choice.
Aunt Sue, Gyn, AJ, and Loren
Are taking care of Myna,
So just save your voice.
Work will be there tomorrow,
It ain't goin' nowhere."
Lorne gives me that look
We all know so well,
But then there's a glint in his eye,
He wants to go, I can tell.
We hop in the buckboard,
Head to the river shore,
Soon poles are in the water,
We couldn't ask for more.
My eyes half-closed,
When my pole takes a jump!
I set the hook,
I feel a big one go bump!
The fight is on!
Will it be me or the fish?
If I can land him,
He'll make quite a dish...
I hear Lorne laugh,
As the fish flops about.
He's gonna make a great dad,
Of that, I have no doubt.
