Billy looked at her like she'd gone insane.

"Rue?"

"You said it yourself Billy. No man

is going to understand me like you do.

Well if they truly care shouldn't I dare

To explain a thing or two?"

Billy looked frustrated as hell

Whatever words came to his lips

He swallowed, she could tell.

He just waved her on, praying whatever

She tells Jacob causes him to be gone.

"Billy is my sworn protector

So you see, even if he and I are not together

He will always be here for me.

We're connected in a way

He can feel my pain.

I know that sounds insane

But for Jujube it is the same.

There are certain people Jacob

You must accept will not be left

Ever, by me, not Billy, not Jujube

They will forever be in my life

No matter if I remain alone

Or become someone else's wife."

Billy bit his bottom lip,

that last sentence hurt quite a bit.

He took the hit, figuring he deserved it.

"I love them, Jacob. They're family

Which they will remain for all eternity.

So you must accept them,

if you wish to accept me."

Billy was rather proud of Ruechari

For explaining it so beautifully

Without giving secrets away.

She must have been giving this some thought

Because she knew just what to say.

Although a part of him wished she said

He was a famous gunslinger raised from the dead.

He'd love to see how that played out in Jacob's head.

He stuck out his hand instead.

"So you heard Ruechari. What will it be?"

Jacob took a deep breath or two

Trying to process the words from Rue.

It seemed a crazy tale indeed

But then again Ruechari

Wasn't one to tell lies

Though it was still hard to believe.

Jacob had seen a lot of unconventional things in his days

But this seemed to top that in a lot of ways

By the smug look on Billy's face,

he was obviously hoping Jacob would run from this place

Well to hell with that, he wasn't afraid

And Jacob looked forward to the day

When Rue trusted him in the same way

To reveal to him

All her secrets of being a Shaman

But that would mean he would have to stick around,

for a long time in this town

Rue had a wall around her heart,

but this was surely a good start

He didn't like it, but he understood

Ruechari kept her secrets for her own good

She had taken a risk healing him

So she had let him in

At least a little anyway

And the least he could do to repay,

Was not kick Billy's ass today

He gripped his hand and gave it a firm shake

But only for Rue's sake

Ruechari smiled at the token of goodwill between the men

While Jacob fought down the urge to kick Billy's teeth in

"I'll do this for you Rue but make no mistake,

I still don't like him. I think he's a snake.

A snake in the grass lying in wait.

So I must ask this,

If Billy wants to bed you, could you resist?

And knowing what I now do, 

makes it look even worse on you, Billy

when you cheated with Lou. 

You share a connection to Rue,

So you knew she is connected to you, too.

I know you can't just turn your feelings off Rue

I don't blame you

But Ruechari, I need you to know

I'm not afraid,

between us I wish to see where things will go."

"Is this, all this is about for you?

Who beds me first you or him?

You're making me regret letting you in."

Billy covered his lips with his hand

needing to control his grin.

"Billy can you please take me back.

I'm sure by now Doc has Jujube intact.

I want to see if there's anything I can do."

"If that's what you want, Rue."

Billy gets on his horse and lends her a hand.

This was not going the way Jacob planned.

"Rue, that's not what I mean... you have to understand..."

"NO. You need to understand.

I have no choice in who I'm destined to be.

I have too many people depending on me.

Trying to run from it, well I've seen where that leads.

A life of pure misery.

The man who can truly see

Can accept this is me

Who can love me for who I am,

Who can truly understand

I will not fight what destiny has planned

Is the man who will set me free.

And therefore will have all of me.

I'm tired of the tug of war

Of everyone demanding more

I have right now, a demand of my own

And that is to be left alone.

Billy spurred his horse into a gallop

Leaving Jacob behind

A bad taste in his pallet.

Well that had sure had gone to hell

And Jacob still had things to tell

He was only meanin, that if things grew serious between em,

He didn't want to share Rue

With another man who took her to his bed too

Billy that scoundrel had the upper hand

Things would be harder than he planned

But he would help Ruechari to see

That she didn't belong with Ronan or Billy

"Ruechari you belong with me

And I shall prove it to you Rue,

I'll be there when they hurt you like they always do

A shoulder to cry on, A ear to listen"

Jacob had a new mission

He would win back Rue

And keep her for good

Treat her the way a real man should

He got on Sixstar

And rode back into BG

He hated that Rue was with Billy

But he would respect her wish to be alone.

He left the horse in the stable and headed towards home

Tomorrow was a new day after all

He whistled on the way and stood tall
