Brandy caught the flash of his smile

"Hello Brandy. It's been a while."

"It sure has been that.

Tell me you didn't follow me?"

"Is that any way to say, thank you?"

"Thank you!?"

His hands pointed to the pair of shoes.

"I assume... your other mark?"

There he lay dead in the dark.

"You?"

"Of course me, and yes I followed

you from Destiny. How could you

just leave like that, without a trace?"

Even in the dark, the hurt showed

On his face.

"I have Demi watching the place?"

"You think I came this far because

I care about our bar?"

Brandy ignored the why

walked away and searched the other guy.

Both men were clean

She was pulled again to her feet.

And back down another street.

Brandy sighed. She knew with him

"Fine! I'm leaving town for a day or two

She smiled and touched his face.

The frown he wore she erased.

She tilted her head back to give him a kiss

"God how I've missed..."

He held her closer

not wanting to let go.

But she broke away...

"Until tomorrow."

Bruce came back to quite a sight.

He had searched for her half the night.

"Tell me one reason not to strangle you!"

He was ready to unleash his wrath.

Brandy ignored him sinking lower into the bath.

She needed a plan but she needed to think

But first, she had to push Bruce back from the brink.

"I just killed two men for you... is that not enough?"

Bruce grabbed the untouched wine, sloshed it down.

"Who the hell are you really, Brandy Vine?"

You needed protection, the two men are dead.

Her head was pounding, her hand still hurt.

One of the many reasons her words were curt.

Bruce swore and drank some more.

Then picked up her clothes and threw them out the door.

"Feel better now?" she asked.

Bruce's face was an unreadable mask.

Brandy stood up from the bath and

walked dripping wet across the floor.

"When you've been used as much as I have.

You don't care anymore."

She walked to him grabbed a glass of wine

Moved on to the bedroom

but didn't shut the door this time.

Bruce drank deeply twisting his ring.

One thing he knew for certain...
