Say It Ain't So?

Lorne felt his wife

Trying to slip out of bed

He rolled over and

Placed an arm around her instead

He secretly smiled

When he heard her sigh

He just didn't want

To say good-bye

For once, let the real world wait

He wanted to stay in bed late

Snuggled in close to his Desert Rose

Instead of getting back to the lives they chose.

"I know you're awake,"

Myna said with a smile

"And this ploy just a fake.

Seems I married myself a rake."

He leaned up to see her face

"You know no one could take your place.

And can you blame me, look at you

What's a mortal man to do?"

With that she shoved him out of bed.

Unexpected he nearly landed on his head.

"As lovely as this all has been,

I have to get back the bakery,

Aunt Sue, Ray and Gyn.

Then there are my duties as Deputy..."

"Oh, I see...

So you just expect me to get up and go?"

He gave her those puppy dog eyes,

"Say it ain't so?"

"You've got your work to do

Like approving that orphanage

And the hotel for Rue."

"Nope, not reason enough..."

he gave her a look she felt down to her toes.

Climbed back into bed.

"I'd much rather be doing this instead."

Every reasonable thought went out of her head.

When they resurfaced...

Myna giggled.

"You're the devil.

One look from you

And into temptation I fell.

But now it's REALLY time to go."

Lorne sadly relented, "I know."

Then he leaned over her...

"Just one more kiss?"

She knew she really ought to resist...
