The Wedding Day

My necklace is old,

With a ribbon of blue.

The gloves are borrowed,

My wedding dress, new.

Uncle Bigbee smiles,

And offers his arm;

The tears in his eyes,

Hold a precious charm.

Beneath the lemon trees,

My future stands.

Today we pledge our vows,

Tomorrow we make our plans.

Tall and so handsome,

A man among men;

We all bow our heads,

Until Pastor Stein says "Amen".

The "I do's" are said, rings are given,

It is now we start our married life,

Pastor Stein smiles...

"I pronounce you husband and wife!"

As I hold Lorne's hands,

Into his eyes I stare;

My heart then skips a beat...

As it fills with despair.

A voice from my past,

Rings through the town...

"So, you said 'I do',

To this backwoods clown?

You left me for dead!

But as you can see,

I am very much alive,

And I want what belongs to me!"

There was a glint of steel...

Lorne falls to the ground...
