The Get Away?

Lighting fast, Snicka left the scene;

Straight out of town, he'd gotten away clean.

Snicka Doodle knew, Myna would follow;

She would hunt him down, her heart now hallow.

I will set an ambush, a full day's ride,

Will provide enough space; I will wait and hide.

What a dish, revenge can be,

When time is borrowed, and hate flows free.

Ah what is this? Fortune's smile,

There's a camp ahead,

No more than half a mile.

"Good evening folks.

Mind if I sit a spell?

These old bones are tired;

Your fire would do them well."

"Have a seat stranger,

You are welcome here;

We'll gladly share our fire,

You have nothing to fear."

"I can't stay long, I still have a way to ride.

You see I must make ready, for my lovely bride."

"Congratulations Sir! What a joyous occasion!

We're on our way home, it's our next destination"

"I'm at the end of a journey

That started many years back...

It started with my beloved Myna...

And a young rounder named Jack...

I was once her mentor, with wisdom to bestow,

But she left me for him, so many years ago.

A runaway bride, they had said "I do";

Behind my back, then away they flew.

I tracked them down,

What Myna doesn't know;

I took her Jack, but not before

He landed me an almost fatal blow.

But I survived my wounds...

And again, tracked her down...

And again, I took her new husband...

The Mayor of the town!

There at the altar, I cut his life short...

No greater pleasure, could I extort."

3 pairs of eyes on her fell. 

All them knew that look too well. 

Ruechari listened to Snicka's tale and smiled.

Billy didn't like it, the look in her eyes was wild.

But he had nothing to say... so, 

he pulled his hat down low.

She glanced to Jasper.

"Up for some fun?

Lets just see how fast

he can run."

Shock and surprise

Filled Snicka's eyes

As the man transformed into

A leopard and pounced at him over the fire.

The beast had him pinned

and snarled at him

He thought his life would expire.

"Let him up,"

He heard the injun woman say.

"Well that was no fun at all.

Go on... 

run away."

Snicka didn't need to be told twice.

He ran as fast as he could for his life.

Ruechari pulled out her knife.

Snicka Doodle felt it slice.

Deep in the leg it felt

Dropping to his knees he knelt.

She strolled over to him

He pulled out his knife

"I wouldn't do that if I were you

Unless you WISH to end your life?"

He was staring down the shot gun

of Billy the Kid. 

And the other an Injun had an arrow 

pointed at his ribs.

Snicka dropped his knife. 

He'd find another way out

and save his life. 

Ruechari laughed, "You think so?"

He looked up shaken, How did she know...?

"Get him tied, we need to ride.

I'm going up ahead.

There's no way, Lorne 

is going to end up dead."

She whistled for SixStar

She whispered in his ear.

The horse galloped off and 

came back dragging someone 

by his rear. 

Billy looked over shocked!

"Brody!!! What are you doing here?"

Brody's eyes were wide

and in them Billy seen fear. 

"Oh good, you know one another then?

That makes things easy, 

You can ride back with the men."

"Drop him."

Brody hit the dirt.

Lucky for him he wasn't hurt. 

"Come, SixStar

You know the way

You think you can get me home

before sunset today?" 

SixStar answered with an 

enthusiastic, "Neigh!"

She jump on bare back

The rest left behind

in SixStar's dust tracks.
