Time had slowed down

action and sound protracted

as he recalled the events

of the crime enacted

Images drifted through his mind

the bridesmaids horror and Myna's scream

the guest's shocked roar, the weight of Lorne

and his frightening, warm blood stream

He remembered having no idea what to do

he saw himself in helpless dismay

over celebrating Lorne's special night

until CG came and showed him the way

At Lorne's stag in the saloon short days ago

they'd gathered together and laughed and sang

the Red House girls put on a show

and Lorne was cheered 'til the rafters rang

And now this special day despoiled

a failure he could not abide

unable to defend in time

his friend the groom lying by his side

The memory ceased, time restored

the event's reality returned

he removed his pink socks, and sang for horse

in his heart anger and vengeance burned
