Dead Again

I watch from the jailhouse door.

Rue talk to someone I hadn't seen before.

Her face took on this sudden light

And it just made me want to fight.

Pummel that cowboy into dust

Heck, shoot him if I must

Then she disappeared down the street

I wondered where she was going

And who she was going to meet.

Inside Snicka was driving me mad with his chatter.

I couldn't help thinking, what did it matter

My mind just kept drifting back to Rue

I still didn't know what I could do.

Then later in the day

some little redhead drops on by

Wanting information... or well giving it a try.

I swiftly ushered her out the door.

Not knowing if I could take much more.

Annie no sooner takes a step down

And I see Rue coming from the saloon in town.

She seemed to be heading my way

Then a strange look came over her

And she turns away.

I was left wondering what I did now

Was it even a possibility to fix this somehow?

3Gun showed up for his shift

The smell of lilac went adrift

I head on over to the saloon

And was nearly knocked over

by the very same goon

I knew he must have been here with Rue

But he left in a hurry like

he had something pressing to do.

I took a seat at the bar

Ordered something strong

I spied a sombrero

It looked like Tex Mex's

But I could be wrong.

I picked it up to see what I could discern

And suddenly felt this yearn

I place the hat upon my head

What happened next

Filled me with dread.

The world as I knew

Faded from view

Off in the distance

my lovely Rue

She smiles and waves

I wave in return

She walked towards me

Unconcerned.

I held out my arms

She held out hers too

She came up closer

Then passed right through.

I watched as she embraced another man

I just couldn't understand.

What was happening to me?

How is it she cannot see?

Her arms wrapped around him

In a lover's embrace.

I stood by helpless

As he kissed her face

He picked her up in his arms

And laid her in the grass.

I was forced to witness every touch

Praying this torture would somehow pass.

The lovers spent

Slept in each others arms

All I wanted to do was

Cause him harm.

Then Ruechari

Was awake

And turned to me

Was it a mistake?

She stood up

She looked me in the eye

A felt a moment of hope

And then I felt it die.

"That's right" she said,

"You're dead to me and

You know the reason why."

I wanted to beg, to plead

"Dead to me," she had decreed.

I reached out with my hand

Suddenly it turned to sand

I wanted to scream but made not a sound

And suddenly found myself

6 feet underground.

I clawed at the dirt

to dig my way out.

"You belong to me now!"

Diablo struck out

I felt his icy hand

Crush my heart

Right before to hell

We did depart.

Tex Mex stood on the other side.

His grin stretched wide

"Welcome to where you belong

Don't worry the Wraith will 

turn Rue before long."

"Too bad you won't be there

To protect her."

I went for his throat

But suddenly all became a blur.

Crooked Smile, tossed the hat back in the box.

"You alright Billy you look a little lost?

Sorry, I took the hat, but it's not a good look for you.

Did something happen between you and Rue?"

"Why would you ask such a thing?"

The words "You're dead to me." still echoing.

CS shrugged

"Just seen her in here with another guy.

Got me wondering, why?

Always thought you two were a thing.

So, it got me wondering."

Billy looked up and asked,

"Do you think a man can be redeemed?"

"Depends on the crime or so it seems."

"What about in the matters of the heart?"

"Not my expertise. I'm not that smart."

CS poured me a drink and slid it on over.

"But I would sort this out with Rue

Before you make the mistake

of becoming hung over."

I took the drink and sloshed it down

Best to do it too now that loverboy is out of town.
