Bound to Happen

AJ left the doctor's office,

He was done with both deliveries.

3gun and the deputy were sorting affairs,

AJ knew he wasn't needed there.

Back in the bakery,

AJ made dinner rolls ready.

As he plated some for selling,

CG went past the window, walking.

AJ went out, and caught her attention,

He told her she should rest, why out walking?

CG shrugged, then asked the baker,

"What's it to you? Does it matter?"

AJ stopped,

Then told her the truth.

He told her of the flower,

And the folded note.

CG nodded,

fishing both from her pocket.

Doc had told her

someone left it while she slept.

CG then sadly shook her head no,

The pieces of paper, she returned both.

Her mind's confused, but not her heart,

What the baker had hoped for was doomed from the start.

AJ sighed in resignation,

He knew things like these were bound to happen.

With a gentle bow, AJ bid her a good day,

With a heavy heart, he walked a way.
