Fighting like Cats and Dogs

"You low down dirty dog!

What did you do?"

Jasper burst through the door

And gathered up Rue.

"Get your paws off of her

You mangy cat."

Rue was stuck in the middle

Of their unpleasant chat.

Pulled from one

Then to the other.

Fists flew 

 she had to duck and cover.

"If you hurt her, I swear

I'll pull out every last hair."

Jasper had a good hold

In his hand

Billy's long golden strands.

Billy wondered if

Jasper would next try to bite

It was obvious the man didn't

Know how to fight.

Pawing and clawing

Like a cat would

Billy fought back deftly

Mocking Jasper's manhood.

Rue had enough

Of trying to hide

She used all the force she had

To push them aside.

"I can't take this anymore!"

She left the room and

Slammed the door.

Both men looked momentarily stunned.

Both of them Rue had shunned.

Should they finish the fight?

Or go after her?

Which was right?

There must be a winner

That was true,

Neither was likely

to give up Rue.

They went to follow but

The door was not wide enough

To let them both through.

Jasper shifted into a cat

In order to slip by.

Since he could after all

Transmogrify.

Billy swore

and chased Jasper

Out the door.

Jasper deftly wove his way through

The sea of people to get to Rue

But suddenly,

3Gun had him by his pelt.

"You owe me a brand-new belt."

Jasper wasn't sure what to do.

Getting to Rue was all he knew.

"You fuzzy outlaw

I've let it slide but

But now I swear I'll have your hide.

Do you have any idea 

what you've done to this town?

You've single-handedly turned it

Upside down."

3Gun left with Jasper well in hand.

Giving Billy a wink, as if he had this planned.

"Thank you!" Billy did mime.

And ran after Rue, 

catching up in no time.

Jasper got thrown into a cell

Jake, exclaimed, "What the hell!"

"3Gun why is there a cat in here?"

"Thought you could use a friend.

Me. I could use a beer."

Jasper was stuck

A cat...

What rotten luck.

Jake said,

"Stuck in a cell

With a black cat

Well, can't get any

unluckier than that."
