A Promise Made

Myna was sick with worry

She needed to come

to my brother's aide

And for that reason

A promise was made.

"I'm going in blind

For all I know, 

he could be dead

If something were to happen to me

I want you to raise 

the twins in our stead."

AJ looked at me not sure what to say.

I'm certain he would have agreed

And right away.

But this is my brother and Myna was

Asking I stay safe and out of the fray.

I felt conflicted

My father taught me

To never back down from a fight

But I realized Myna needed this peace of mind

in order to do the job right.

I took hold of AJ's hand.

For Myna and Lorne I said,

"I understand."

Myna looked so relieved

She almost cried.

"Don't you dare!" I did swear

"You best bring you both back alive."

"If you don't, I will never forgive

Myself for staying behind.

And I know what it was like 

growing up without a mother, 

and that is a fate you don't want

your children to be resigned."

Myna's resolve became iron clad.

"I'm not going in alone.

My children will have

both a mom and a dad."

Myna met with other women

They  worked out a plan
