Gone to Hell - Ruechari
Gone to Hell
Ronan shot through the chest.
Rue's fallen sister needing to be
Laid to rest.
Ronan moved to Doc's.
Her sister buried beneath rocks.
Rue on her hands and knees
Found scrubbing the blood
Out of the carpet by Jujube.
He tried to still her hands
She pushed him away.
She'd been scrubbing for
More than half the day.
"Rue, stop, please."
She couldn't comply
To many losses
To many times
she'd was forced
To say good-bye.
Her innards being
Eaten away from hate
She needed to keep busy
Before it was too late
Her very soul in jeopardy.
The demon with in, lying in wait
Wearing a grin
Knowing how close he was
To a win.
He could feel her pain
He called out her name.
"I can make it all go away.
Come now Rue what do you say?"
Jujube begged,
"Rue please, come with me.
You've done enough."
Maybe he should get Billy.
Jasper showed up saying
"Leave her to me."
Jasper knew better than
To give her a voice
A choice.
He picked Rue up
Off the floor.
And walked with her
Out the door.
She didn't fight
Like he thought she might.
A low whistle
And Six Star
Who was never far
Came to answer the call.
Jasper sat Rue on the horse's back
Got up behind her and gave
Six Star's rump a smack.
The two rode out of town.
Rue close in his arms
He took her for a ride
To her tribe.
Jasper brought her to her Uncle
"Ruechari?!"
"She's losing the battle."
Jasper said.
"Bring her to me."
"Sweet Child.
We thought we were doing
What was best."
Jasper carried her
Into the teepee
Held close to his chest.
I must confer with elders
Keep her here.
I only hope it's not to late.
The Chief's face filled with fear.
He only hoped they would not debate.
Rue looked at Jasper
Face filled with uncertainty.
"Jasper what's happening to me?"
"You're not well.
The Wraith can only be contained
By your tribe's ritual.
You've been holding him at bay
Kept him locked away
By your sheer will.
Now he's trying to get free.
Preying on you Ruechari.
He feeds off sorrow, anger, hate.
He knew he just needed to lie in wait.
Privileged to all that you see.
He knew it was only a matter of time
He's been waiting for this moment
Since Destiny."
"Those glimpse of the future
The betrayal, was me?"
Jasper held her tighter
As her face grew whiter.
"Don't give in, Ruechari!"
"Do give in, Ruechari!"
Was the whispered voice
Inside Ruechari.
"Your people forever
pushed around.
Constantly losing ground.
Forced to live on the skirts
Of this city.
Come now, Rue, what a pity."
Rue put her hands over her ears
Not wanting to hear.
"Done and Dusted
Took the man you loved.
A whole in his chest.
Well you know the rest.
He'll likely not make the night
But set me free and I'll make it right."
"No!" Rue said with a shout.
The elders returned wondering
What the shouting was about.
"Please, you must unbind her powers
You were wrong
Can't you see?!
Binding her powers has left her
At the Wraith's mercy."
They watch Rue struggle against
Some invisible enemy.
"Jasper, we're the not sure it can be done.
We're old, and the old ways are being shunned.
Progress has made our people change
The rites of passage have become estranged."
"You must try. Or Rue dies.
He'll make her a black hole
By stealing her very soul."
The Chief gathered all he could find
Who would help Rue's powers to unbind.
Rue cried out in agony.
As those binds were slowly ripped free.
They only hoped they weren't too late
That she'd be strong enough
To resist the Wraith,
in her weakened state.
Suddenly her body went still.
Her Uncle felt ill.
"We must set the wraith free."
"Leave his capture up to me."
Jasper stood firm, a ring he had forged.
He hoped he never had need of it
As he had molten metal poured.
But there was nothing he wouldn't do.
To save, Rue.
The Kit Kats' chanted to draw
The Wraith from her.
A black mass rose,
Some of the Kit Kats froze.
The Chief urged them on
They had to stay strong.
Japer stepped forward
Chanting words of his own.
Words understood by
Him alone.
He placed the ring on his finger.
His hands glowed with a flame
He called out the Wraith
By name.
"Wraith, dark one
Come to me.
In this ring
Trapped for eternity."
The Wraith gave the same
Agonizing howls as Ruechari.
In a battle for his destiny.
Rue would be his greatest
Masterpiece.
He was so close to winning.
But now his world was spinning.
The Wraith tried to hold on.
But the Master's will was too strong.
"You WILL leave, Ruechari
and come to me."
With those words the Wraith
Was wrenched free.
Rue cried out
Again, in agony.
The shadow was absorbed
Into the ring.
Jasper finished the spell
Making it binding.
Next to Rue his body fell.
The KitKat's that night
Kept a steady vigil.
Would all be well?
Only time could tell.
