Peek A Boo 

The gala turned out better 

than planned or expected. 

The boss couldn't hide 

his pleasure. 

The work began at once 

Ewell hired the men 

from Tent City. 

The pay would be 

Nickels and dimes, 

A bottle or two, 

Free muffins and bread, 

Now and then.

Simon stepped into the cafe 

He picked up his bread 

and placed an order for muffins. 

He was seated at a table 

when he spied babies in a basket 

busy at play. 

Simon scratched his scar 

he'd have some fun today. 

He eyed and gawked at them, 

But made a poker face 

when a young lady 

passed his way.

The cafe was deserted 

time for another game 

babies ought to learn 

and remember his name. 

He covered his eyes 

and made his scariest face 

then he showed it to them 

 and whispered boo! 

Next turn he got ready 

covered up his eyes 

and showed them his big long scar 

and whispered boo!

A concerning wail, 

Cut through Myna's ears. 

She rushed to the babies' basket, 

To find both of them in tears.

"What is wrong my precious ones?" 

They both seemed affright. 

Myna noticed the newcomer, 

Her suspicions did ignite.

A guilty grin upon his face, 

She knew he was up to no good. 

She would have to find out, 

What he was doing in our neighborhood.
