No More Lies 

Bruce grabbed Brandy by the shoulders

"What the hell is going on?"

Colton took a step forward

Brandy shook her head no,

Not wanting Bruce to be set upon.

Colton stood down

She looked up to see Bruce's frown.

"Oh Aces was a trap,

to lure me away from you.

Or maybe they hoped you'd come along.

The gang paid a heavy price

Most of them are gone."

Bruce was surprised

To see tears in her eyes.

"Gone? As in dead?"

Brandy nodded.

"If not, they fled

We walked into an ambush at the saloon.

The place filled with Regan's goons."

Already Bruce could tell

Things didn't end well.

"How many did you kill?"

"However, many wouldn't run."

Brandy said pulling way,

Which reminded her

She had to clean her guns.

She walked to the table

Began to strip them down.

"You mind telling me,

who's this clown?"

Brandy looked up at Colton

Who just stood there wearing a grin

He was enjoying her discomfort

At having to explain him

"He's the hired gun I told you about."

"Well, then your job is over.

So... get out!"

Bruce said pointing to the door.

Colton waited for Brandy to say more.

Brandy just turned away her head.

Guess enough said.

"I want my pay,"

Colton said to Brandy

"I'll settle up with you later today."

Colton nodded and left.

Bruce turned again to Brandy

"Why do you think Buck is in trouble?"

"Because we made it here on the double.

And if you're still here

Then I'd have to wonder

If they'd didn't grab your brother."

"Now that he's a deputy

3Gun or Billy should know."

"After I'm done here I'll go."

She stood up pulled out a box

To restock her ammo.

Bruce grabbed her hand...

"You trying to make me a widow."

It was then he noticed

she wasn't wearing the ring

His thumb ran over that finger

Wondering...

"You and that guy? You got a thing?"

Brandy looked pissed

"He is someone in my employee

not my boy toy."

Bruce lifted up her hand

"Then where's your wedding band?"

"Please don't you dare

Start acting like you care,"

Brandy pulled out the ring

From a pocket

"Here keep it, it's not

like it means anything."

Bruce looked over the band of gold

In the way she handed it over a lot was told.

"We aren't really married are we?"

Brandy reassembled and loaded her guns

"No."

"So everyone was in on it including Donovan?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

"Can't you guess?"

"You needed me to follow here to BG."

"Yes, I needed you away from Oh Aces

So I put you through the paces

But I needed to keep you face to face.

I couldn't protect you any other way.

If I wasn't here you would have died that day."

Bruce knew Brandy spoke of the day she left.

"Where did you get the rings?"

"They belonged to Shamus and Lou."

Bruce took his off and across the room, he threw

But Brandy noticed the other he put in his vest.

He must really have loved her,

Brandy guessed.

"No more secrets, no more lies. I'm going with you."

"Suit yourself," Brandy said grabbing a shotgun from the shelf.

"You expecting an army?"

"I like to be prepared."

He hated to admit her intensity

Had him feeling a little scared.

"3Gun has an ordinance no guns in town.

So how is all this going to go down?"

Brandy smirked a wicked grin.

"You let me worry about that.

Come on, that brother of yours

Let's see if we can't find him."

Bruce followed her into town

She walked up to 3Gun 

him wearing a frown.

"Tell me you're here to turn in those guns."

" 'Fraid not. I'm looking for someone."

"You know it's the law here in BG?"

"She's a peace officer, 3Gun," offered Billy.

"I don't care who or what she is when

she's outside of BG, but while she's here

she needs to obey the laws of this city."

"Don't worry 3Gun soon we'll be out

of your hair. Is Buck around?"

"Bruce? Didn't see you there?

Why do you need to know?"

"I have something with him I need to discuss

Nothing that needs any fuss.

If it's really a problem we'll go,"

Bruce took Brandy by the arm.

"No. I sent him to do some recon

right outside of town.

I don't expect him to be long,

Is there something wrong?"

Bruce looked about to speak

But Brandy put her hand on his chest.

"No, just some family business."

"I see. I'll tell him you were looking for him

upon his return."

"Thanks, Sheriff!"

Bruce said, now pulling Brandy in tow,

Knowing when it's time to go.

"Brandy, I'm serious,

I don't want to see you with a gun

in town again or I'll throw you in jail."

"And don't even think I'll post bail."

Bruce said with a grin.

Brandy smirked back,

"You're quite the comedian."
