Brett sat in the saddle pondering the scene,

Something didn't quite make sense,

He hesitated for a moment,

But there was no time for self-doubt,

He bit the bullet and spurred his horse on,

His one-horse race for home was underway,

Shadow's message had already been dispatched,

Its echo has already reverberated around the Liberty Belle.

Upon receipt, there was no hesitation,

A family member was in danger,

With military precision, things moved fast and furious,

This was family business, of the highest order,

Nothing was more important than a daughter in peril.

No time to waste, trying to motivate the law

Jhonny was sent with urgency to the stables,

And was frantically busy preparing the horses,

Whilst Conan was gathering the best men and women,

Denver's vigilantly posse prepared to impose family law.

Brett guided his speeding horse through a sudden turn,

His subconscious had kicked in, making him aware he'd been duped,

That crafty sister of his had sent him on a wild goose chase,

Her and Petra would have already communicated with Missy,

Knowing without him, she could easily evade detection,

And that Brandy Vine and Buck's captors would be unaware of her presence.

He didn't know Buck's location and right now he didn't care,

But knows for sure that Petra is heading toward Tent City,

He pulled hard on the reins and his horse reared its head,

The bridled bit did its job,

They were soon tearing up a parallel trail of dust and tracks,

He wasn't going to give up the chase,

He'd rather die in the saddle.

All through the commotion, Denver had tended Missy,

But he was now at the head of his posse of vigilantes,

Riding side by side with Bart at full charge,

Heading for the same destination as Brett.

He looked to his right and found himself flanked by Missy,

Her head bound with blood-stained bandages,

She had the bearing of an Amazonian warrior,

Not even god could help those men.

She, in turn, was flanked by Annie,

Who wore a wicked grin,

Cheekily feigning an oops I'm sorry face.

"Don't look so surprised darling, she's my daughter too,

And you're going to need me as a guide,

I can track both Shadow and Petra better than any man."

And you need to take heed, she's in love.

Respect her wishes and handle this with care,

Consider the love we share,

And the consequences of love not recognised,

Before you let that devil of yours rush in,

Where angels fear to tread."

He knew in his head and heart,

That what she said was true,

And also knew he was wasting his breath,

But it had to be said.
