Time to Ride

I walk through to town with gold in hand

Time to come up with another plan

Its easy to see, Lou is done with me

And has fallen for one of the Buchanans

I first stop up on Boot Hill

Unger is there with his wagon filled

1 from the Sheriff, 2 from AJ

"That's three so far but we haven't finished the day."

He hands me a shovel.

"Dig them yerself

I puttin' me shovel back on the shelf."

You'll regret leaving me when

I wander down to the stable.

There was Petra looking able.

Takin' care of the Forge

She looked up at me rather bored.

"Petra me sweet I need a horse.

Best one ya've got of course."

She looked up with surprise

Clearly written in her eyes.

"You, giving up? Didn't think I'd see the day

You resigned yourself to let Lou slip away?"

"I tried to be an honest man

Diggin' ditches doin' what I can

But she hasn't come back

While I've been breaking me back

I've decided there must be a better way

I'll get her back... someday."

"So that's it?!

You're just going to quit?"

"I see I 'ave little recourse

It's obvious she's chosen

Buck or Bruce and of course

I don't think it will last

But I'm tired of payin' for me past.

It's time I take a stand

"So your plan is to wait for her to come to you?"

His question made her slip

she missed hammering the shoe

On the hammer she strangled the grip.

She didn't want to admit it was true.

Buck's made his choice

It's clear to see

He wants her

And so not me.

It hurts but I let him go

I love him and I let show

But he left to set Lou free."

"Set Lou free, what do you mean?"

There was obviously information to glean.

"She was jailed for killing Domain,

But it was Bruce and Buck that ended his reign."

"So, the reason she hasn't come back is because

She's being held to be judged by Justice's laws?

And here I thought it was because of those two."

Shamus' hope was suddenly renewed.

"I know that look

What are you planning to do?"

"Well I'm going to gather the information

That will free Lou."

"I knew you lied when you said you were done."

"Just like you and that certain someone."

She threatened him with

The hammer in her fist

Shamus laughed and surrendered with a grin.

"A horse if ya please," he said tappin' her chin.

"Fine, if you stupidly want to put your heart on the line

But don't look down on me for wanting to protect mine."

"Petra ya deserve so much more.

When ya luv it is, hard-core.

If he is too simple to see.

Perhaps you are right to set him free."

He hated to see Petra's sad eyes

She got him his horse and a new saddle besides

He brushed his fingers across her cheek.

"He's an eejit is what I think."

Shamus paid her twice the price

"Thanks for always looking out for me."

Shamus tipped his hat and gave her a grin.

As she watched him ride away,

She couldn't help but say.

"That one suffers from double-dose

Of original sin."
