The news of Margarita's letter

Meant Harriet had to act

The town's approval had to be fact

The space above the library

Was a perfect site

Learning in the day and bed at night

In my application to council 

I said building rent would be free

Because it was already paid by me

Donations of cots and bedding

Would always be welcome

The church was ready to donate some

A small additional fee for a library card

Would go directly to the orphanage

To help these children turn their page

Just need a signature to make it happen

So let's make the children's life fair
