Chapter IV
Ryan is a very artistic girl. She loves to draw, make music, read, write, everything. She is so advanced in her drawings that she takes a High School drawing class. Then she takes an accelerated ELA class. Finally, she can play the guitar, piano, violin, and the ukulele. She's incredible.
Both Ryan and I excel in the arts. I am a videographer so I can film videos, edit them, and make them movie material. Okay, maybe not movie material, but better than the average bear.
Even Audrey is getting into it. She's taking ballet, jazz, and acro classes at a local studio. She isn't on the competition team though, because that means they'd have to travel across the country and with everything Ryan is in we couldn't really do that. So instead Audrey does their showcases they have every four months.
All of this comes from our parents. My father was a poetry major and now teaches a poetry class at the junior high and my mom is currently a theater director at my school. They both make sure that we are always active in the arts and make sure that we are enjoying it.
We'll get back to all of that in a second, but first you need to know: We have a small apartment. It's a two bedroom apartment with a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and a porch. So our parents take one of the bedrooms, then they have Ryan, Audrey and I share the other room.
And it's a tiny room, may I say.
I have a twin bed with a green, grey, black and white geometric patterned comforter. I'm shoved in the right hand corner (looking through the door). Then I have a white nightstand with a silver lamp to the left of me, next to that is Ryan's bed, which has a plain grey comforter set.
Then they have a matching nightstand. Finally, the bed that's closed to the door is Audrey's. It has a pink and purple swirl pattern comforter.
Across from my bed is Audrey's mat so she can practice acro and not get hurt on the wooden floor. That's really it in our room. There's a window across from Audrey's bed and our closet on the wall to the left of the door.
So the next day, we were hanging out in our room. Ryan had pulled out her keyboard and was working on some of her songs on her bed, Audrey was working on her front walkover, and I was helping Audrey with her front walkover.
"I've never seen anything like that before." Audrey admitted as she began kicking over. I held my hand on her back to make sure she wouldn't fall as she tried to kick over. When she came up she continued. "That little snob Tegan just walked into the dance studio for her first practice, ever, and learned to do a back walkover. It isn't fair."
"Are you sure she hasn't done a practice before?" I asked her as she kicked over again. She came and shrugged.
"I don't know. But she just turned seven. It's absolutely not fair." Audrey stated. "Okay, don't spot me."
I stepped back and watched as Audrey went down and kicked over on her own. I clapped and smiled. "Good job Audrey."
"Thank you." Audrey smiled and flipped her hair. I chuckled.
"Can y'all shut up for a second?" Ryan asked as she reached for her phone. She tapped it and then brought it up to her ear. "Hey Francie."
Ryan listened for a second. "You're kidding? Seriously? Okay I'll talk to her. See ya tomorrow." Ryan set her phone down. "So Phoebe would you like to explain why you went out on a date with a college boy?"
"I didn't go on a date with him." I corrected her.
"Really? Because Jax told Juliet that you left to go hang with a college boy, who then told Becka, who told Francie, who told me." Ryan told me. I rolled my eyes.
"We just went to go hang at his favorite spot. No big deal." I said.
"How'd you meet this boy?" Audrey asked as she walked over from the dresser. She had put in some jean shorts and her dance studio's jacket.
"He was in the other car." I answered.
"Oh honey, that ain't gonna end well if he can't drive." Ryan admitted.
"It was the semi's fault. And can we not talk about this, you guys are too young to understand. This is grownup stuff." I told them and walked over to my bed.
"I'm only four years younger than you." Ryan stated. I rolled my eyes once again.
"And in four years when you're eighteen, you'll understand." I added, opening my computer. "Trust me, you will."
My phone then dinged. I picked it up to see a text from Justin.
J: Hey, I don't have any classes tomorrow, you wanna hang in the afternoon
Me: Yeah, that sounds perfect
J: Meet me at the spot
Me: half past ten o'clock
J: oh my god
Me: lol haha yeah I know I suck
J: I cannot believe someone else gets that reference
Me: everyone should love Avril Levigne
J: agreed.
"So where's his favorite spot?" Ryan asked me.
Me: I'll meet you there, how does three sound?
J: three works just fine
"This place out in the woods. His sister discovered it while hiking." I answered.
Me: so, what are you doing right now?
J: Cecilia is forcing me to watch her favorite reality show
J: literally the corniest thing I've ever seen
J: what about you?
"That's cool. Who's his little sister?"
Me: my sister is forcing me to talk to her
J: sounds like a typical day here
Me: there's no escape
J: there really isn't
Me: I bet it's even harder in a studio apartment
J: no kidding
"Cecilia...Kelly, I think is her last name." I responded.
"Cecilia Kelly? You're dating a Kelly?" Ryan asked in shock. I looked over at her, and eyebrow raised. "Oh honey."
"What's wrong with Cecilia?"
J: what is she forcing you to talk about?
"Don't even get me started."
Me: nothing important
"She lives right next to the hood. So when she comes over to our side of town she always smells like smoke. I caught her drinking a beer once. It's nasty." Ryan explained.
J: anything you want to talk about is important to me
Me: no, seriously, it's not important
J: hey, I told you about my family, shouldn't you trust me?
I looked up at Ryan who shrugged.
Me: we're just talking about how our little sister needs to work on flexibility in her lower back if she wants to do a back handspring some day
J: Thank you
Me: you're welcome
"Maybe Kelly isn't her last name. But if it is, maybe it's a different girl." I told Ryan.
Me: like I said, it's nothing important
J: I get it now
J: but hey, who's your little sister?
Me: Ryan Wolfe
J: that name sounds familiar, I think Cecilia knows her
Me: what a small world this is
J: yes it is
"I wouldn't be too sure of it." Ryan told me. "But maybe it's only Cecilia's problem, it could be that your boyfriend is clean."
J: Cecilia does know her. She's seen your little sister around the town
Me: oh really! What a happy coincidence
J: we'll have to get them together at some point
Me: yeah totally
I nodded. "Yeah maybe."
