Surprise

Early in the morning, there were loud noises coming from behind the closed bedroom door. Stevie and Lindsey both stirred a little, tugging the covers around them tightly, finding each other in the semi-darkness of Stevie's room. The light was just barely visible through the heavy curtains, not able to wake them just yet. The banging continued, metallic sounds like clinks and clangs growing louder. Next came the cursing, a woman's voice. Lindsey was unable to ignore it this time, feeling for Stevie. He reached out a hand, making contact with bare skin. He cuddled back up to her, drifting off once more.

"Surprise! Rise and shine, sleepy head! I made breakfast!" came a chipper voice, the door swinging open and hitting the wall suddenly. There in the doorway stood Stevie's roommate, a brunette with big blue eyes, with a tray in her hands. It was piled high with toast, a glass of juice, and a plate full of pancakes and pastries. It startled the couple and they both sat bolt upright in bed. The brunette screamed, nearly dropping the tray as Lindsey jumped up to save the contents.

"Debbie, don't you knock?!" Stevie growled.

"I didn't know you'd have a boy over" Debbie said, highly embarrassed.

"I guess this is your roommate, Steph?"

"Yeah, Linds this is Debbie, Debbie this is Lindsey Buckingham."

"Nice to meet you" Lindsey said.

"Nice to meet you too." Debbie blushed.

"What?" Lindsey gave her a strange look as her eyes repeatedly darted downward. "Shit!" Lindsey cursed as her pulled the blanket from the bottom of Stevie's bed and wrapped it around himself, realizing he wasn't dressed from the waist down. Stevie was beet red from giggles, pulling the blanket over her head.

"Well um, I guess when you're hungry, you can tell me." Debbie said, still staring at Lindsey.

"Yeah, thanks" The brunette backed out of the room slowly, looking him up and down. It made him uncomfortable so he shut the door again. "Wasn't she at her boyfriend's house or something?" Lindsey asked, sitting in the bed and uncovering Stevie.

"She was supposed to have been. I don't know when she got in."

"That wasn't the way I wanted to meet her"

"And did you see her looking at you like that? Gross! I've got half a mind to tell Chet just how she was ogling another man!"

"You wouldn't, would you?"

"Well, no." she says deflating. "I wouldn't tell him but you know, you're my boyfriend, she has no right"

"I'm you're boyfriend?" Lindsey asked, his eyes sparkling.

"I only assumed since I've heard you call me your girlfriend, and well, I don't do what we did last night with just any guy." He smiled at her, stroking her hair back from her face and tucking it behind her ear. "You're special, you know that. Plus, don't you love me or something?" she asked teasingly.

"Of course I do. I have something for you." He leans down to grab his jeans and pulls a little box from the pocket. Her eyes go wide.

"Is this...?"

"No...no" he says with a nervous chuckle. "It's a promise ring. I just...I bought it because I love you and I'm so happy with you. I know it's fast but I remember you saying that life is too short to wait."

"That's true."

"If you don't want to wear it, it's okay."

"No, I want to"

"You do?"

"Yeah, can I see what I'm agreeing to?" she asked and he laughed.

"Yes, yes of course." He opens the box and inside is a beautiful sterling silver and moonstone ring. "I thought you'd like it."

"Wow, I don't know what to say. It's beautiful! I love it!" she told him. "Put it on my finger"

He slides the ring on and thankfully it fits perfectly. He kissed her softly, the tenderness of it not lost on either of them. "I'm so happy"

"Me too." she said, pulling back.

"I'm sure Debbie's waiting for us. Why don't we get dressed and have a little breakfast. I can hang around and after your classes, maybe we can hang out for a little while."

"Two things"

"Okay?"

"The first one is, are you parents okay with you being gone all night, won't they worry?"

"I will call them. I'm sure they think I stayed with one of the guys last night."

"Alright."

"What about the second thing?"

"The second thing? Oh I don't know if I can say it now."

"Don't tease, pretty girl." he said and she giggled.

"Okay, well, the second thing...well I guess the second thing is, why do we have to leave my room today? I don't have any classes today and it's such a perfect day to stay in here and make love."

"All day?" Lindsey asks with a gulp, beads of sweat already on his forehead and upper lip.

"Uh-huh, but if you don't want to..."

"I do!" he told her eagerly and she giggled again.

"But I guess you're right. We could have a little breakfast so we have the strength for later." Stevie combed her hair and tossed on a short sleeved long white night gown and her robe. She pulled her slippers on and watched Lindsey dress quickly. He was kicking himself for the breakfast suggestion now, as he would much rather do what she had proposed. Once he was done, he took her hand and went out to the kitchen. She let go only to make him a plate and set it down on the table across from where Debbie sat eating a blueberry muffin. Stevie was last to sit down, picking apart a croissant and spreading on a tiny amount of butter. Lindsey smiled at her as he ate, the food tasting so good due to how hungry he was. The couple kept exchanging suggestive looks, stealing kisses every few minutes.

Debbie looked unimpressed as she sat there practically staring holes through each of them. She huffed as they kissed again, this time deepening it. Lindsey hands massaged her petite yet curvy hips as her fingers played in his gorgeous curls. They were turned just so on the chairs where Stevie was practically in his lap. Debbie slammed her unused silverware onto the table.

"I didn't ask you guys to come out here so I could watch you suck face. Why don't you two get a room?!" Debbie said, seeming a little miffed by them.

"We're sorry" Lindsey said. "Maybe we will do just that."

"Yeah, we wouldn't want to bother you any more than we have, Debbie." Stevie added. Lindsey smirked at her and they both scrambled to her bedroom door, shoving it open as they shared sloppy kisses, hands wandering wildly over each other's bodies. Debbie yelped when she heard the door slam again, getting up from the table. She went into the living room and turned on the radio. She cranked up the volume higher and higher until she could no longer hear what was going on in her roommate's bedroom.
