"We're happy to announce Beigoma Acadeny's first school play! It'll take place in the auditorium, they'll be lights, audience, costumes, and so much more!"
Your teacher went on and on and on about such a silly thing. You didn't see anything special in a silly school play. Although, tons of kids were much more excited than you were. You propped an elbow up onto your desk, and rested your chin in your palm. Your other hand raised to stifle a yawn you weren't able to keep in. Right in the midst of your innocent yawn, your teacher pointed right at you.
"[Y/n]! I'd like you to take the role of Juliet! No arguments allowed!" She clapped her hands together, with glittery eyes. You immediately stood up from shock, and gaped at her.
"Wh-what-!? Why!?" A blush immediately found it's place onto your cheek, and you slowly sat back down into your seat. Your teacher seemed to enjoy torturing you so.
"Your English marks are absolutely perfect, your story building skills are amazing! You'd be a wonderful actress." Her response was so confusing. Now, the whole class was looking at you. Your close friend Shu, pretended he wasn't hearing a thing, and continued to scribble in his notebook. You were gonna kill that white haired boy after this.
"I-I mean. . . I'm a writer, not, an actress." You trailed off nervously. It was true, you enjoyed writing, and did a very good job at it. No one was really supposed to know this, but you'd written plays for a certain someone with two puppets on his hands. You wrote plays for his family to preform for the little children, but that didn't mean you could preform it. You let out a deflated sigh.
"I said, no arguments, Juliet!"
The class laughed, and you buried your face in your arms.
Once class was over, you were left frail on your desk, avoiding as many people as possible. Some girls were so excited for your sake, but you knew you were going to bomb this whole thing.
"Hey, get up, you'll be left locked in the school." A familiar voice scolded you. How dare he.
"Leave me alone." You huffed in response, but didn't sound very sure of yourself. Shu couldn't help but smile.
"It's for less than a month, you'll live through it." He pat your head.
"I can't believe you didn't stand up for me!" Your hands slammed onto the desk and you hopped up from your seat. "You're the worst."
"You know you don't mean that." The whitette jested, crossing his arms. "Come on, let's go." He picked up his bag and ushered you to follow him. "If it makes you feel better, the male lead is Kensuke."
". . . How is that supposed to ma-!" You stopped. Romeo and Juliet was the play, right? This was a love story. If you were Juliet, Ken would be Romeo, and things would even even more tragic than the actual story. By the time you came up with something to yell at Shu, he was already at the door. "You think you're so cool! As soon as I get my hands on you, you're dead!" You grabbed your bag and chased after him.
You were just about to kick him in the throat, when the two of you got outside. The whole Bey Club was there to congratulate you.
"Isn't this awesome! You're gonna be famous [y/n]!" Valt continuously hopped in his place. With a frown, you placed your hand on his head and stopped him from jumping.
"I don't want to be famous." You propped your hands on your hips. "I just want to write stories, and play with spinning tops."
"Well when you put it that way." Daigo jested. "Doesn't sound very eventful."
"That's because it's not!"
". . . Where's Rantaro?" Shu perked up.
"Oh. Uh." Valt poked his fingers together. "Him and Wakiya aren't taking rejection very well."
"Everyone wants to be Romeo, but Juliet doesn't want to be Juliet." Daigo pitched in.
"Very funny." You pouted.
"Keru, do you think I'd have been a pretty Juliet?"
". . . Besu, you're a boy."
"Yes? So?"
"Never mind."
If Keru and Besu where here. . . Then. . .
You slowly turned around, only to have two soft puppets rubbing their cheeks against either of yours.
"C-cut it out you two!" Through a small fit of giggles, you managed to brush them off. They were just puppets, but they made your heart melt.
"She was about to rip us in half two seconds ago, and now she's an angel." Daigo mumbled. Shu and Valt agreed.
"What's wrong?" Ken peered a bit closer. Oh, his little voice was so precious, you couldn't resist.
"N-nothing! It's nothing! I'll see you tomorrow for rehearsal." You shook Keru and Besu's little paws. "You two as well." Your voice was sing-songy.
"Sleep tight, don't let the Keru bite." Besu chimed.
"You as well." Your hands clapped together, and at that, you were gone in the blink of an eye. . .
"She's so strange." Shu mumbled under his breath.
"Lucky you, Ken." Daigo chuckled.
. . . Ken tilted his head. What on earth were they on about.
You were playing dead. Laying in a coffin full of red roses, you were playing dead. The story went like this; Juliet and Romeo are the children of different houses, whom hate one another for god knows what reason. Despite this, Romeo and Juliet fall in love at a party; where Romeo was definitely not allowed in. The two then meet at night, while Juliet is on her balcony, and Romeo is standing in the grass. Like two morons, they decide to get married without telling their parents. Although, after accidentally killing Juliet's brother in a feud, Romeo is banished from the city. SO:
The priest that was going to marry Romeo and Juliet; gave Juliet some strange looking poison. Apparently it'd stop her heart for half a day, so she'll pretend she's dead. While she's dead, Romeo was to make his way into the burial grounds, and fetch her. He'll take her far away into the countryside, where they can live happily ever after.
Except. Romeo didn't know that was the plan. He wasn't able to find out. Now he (Ken) was staring at you (Juliet), thinking you really were dead. . .
"Here's to; my love."
Then, there it was. It was hesitant, but, he did kiss you. One of his gloved hand brushed against your cheek. If you weren't supposed to play dead, you'd have held onto him as well, but, ah.
The curtains closed. The narrator spoke the last line; "For never was a story more woe, than this of Juliet and her Romeo."
Clapping, clapping, the entire audience had stood up and started clapping. All of the cast members backstage were cheering as well; Valt had actually played your brother, so even with a fake knife in his chest he was screeching for you and Ken. Finally, you could sit up and brush rose petals off your head.
It was a little awkward. Ken stood there, while you sat in a coffin.
". . . I like you."
You lifted your head to peer up at Ken. You'd never had guessed he'd make the first move. His cheeks were flushy, but he did his best to keep eye contact. You smiled softly. Romeo and Juliet had their turn, not it was yours. You opened your arms, and the raven haired blader happily obliged to your hug.
"I like you too, Ken."
There. Was the real kiss.
