Your nimble fingers laced with cold ones while you trudged through the jungle. It was late at night, the full moon illuminated your faces just the slightest bit. You could hear the soft chirps of birds, and trees rustling from other animals - all the little ones scurrying on home to their families.

You and Boa only had each other, but, that was all you needed. Boa suddenly gave your hand a small squeeze to remind you he was still there, but you'd never forget. You'd never forget a single second you spent with this boy.

He met you in the rain, when you had run away from your home. Your parents were abusive and you couldn't take it anymore, as exhausted as your entire body and soul could be, you just ran away. After hearing poor you sobbing for a while, Boa managed to find you through the huge banana leaves. He held a leaf over your head to protect you from the rain, despite the both of you already being soaked to the bone. You had nowhere else to go and no one else to trust, so you followed him back to the snake pit. The both of you were going to train and suffer together. One day, when you were both strong enough, you'd finally be able to leave. Ashtem promised you both a better life, you and Boa could finally be happy.

"[Y/n]." He snapped you out of your thoughts.

"Yeah?" You skipped over a broken branch before looking up at him. He passed you a soft smile that warmed your heart instantly. Such a sweet thing, you always felt bad he had to suffer so much. He lifted a hand and rubbed your cheek for a moment.

"Nothing." Boa shook his head before continuing through the narrow dirt path. You obediently followed after him, tightly holding onto his hand - just the feeling of his palm against yours made you happy. Every now and then he rubbed his thumb against the back of your hand.

After entering the near pitch black snake pit - only dimly lit by half broken light bulbs, you both came to a halt after noticing a certain someone was waiting for you. Or, Boa at least.

"You're late." Red Eye crossed his arms, leaning against the wall. Whatever expression he held underneath that mask, you knew it wasn't good.

"I know. . . Sorry." Boa muttered. He took a small step in front of you, as if to tell you; 'stay back'.

"If you don't get over your weaknesses, then you'll never be able to be strong. Boa." The white haired male made his last statement before taking his leave. You listened to his shoes click against the cold ground until it was inaudible.

"He's talking about me, right?" You lowered your voice. No one was here, but you only wanted Boa to hear you.

". . . Don't listen to him. He's wrong about only this." Boa suddenly placed his hands on your shoulders, forcing you to look at him. "You're my strength."

"Boa-! I'm strong too, you don't have to protect me. We're going through the same training, I know I can protect myself." You tried to protest.

"I just-." Gritting his teeth, he lowered his head as well as his hands down your arms. "I just don't want to lose you, [Y/n]."

"I know. I don't want to lose you either, and I'm not going to. We're staying together no matter what it takes." Quickly, you threw your arms around him in a hug. Boa had trust issues, and so did you, but you felt comfortable with him.

"Okay. I believe you." He held onto you tightly, kissing your cheek twice. "I'll be back." His hand rubbed at your back for a few seconds before you had to pull away. Boa normally went off with Red Eye and tried his best at the same training. Ashtem was well aware you were a girl, so he refused to put you under certain training routines, and kept Red Eye away from you. In fact, he didn't want you near Boa either, but you insisted.

All you could think about was the day you'd leave this god forsaken place. To leave you had to train your hardest, you had to be strong. It was obvious anyone that managed in the snake pit was just only obsessed with power. Boa was obsessed with you too, though.

Your hand ripped at the cord from your launcher, sending your opponent's bey immediately out the stadium. Survival of the fittest, right? Your nested your eyes shut. No one ever told you what happened to these kids after they lost a battle. If they were kicked out, imprisoned, or even killed. . . You sucked in a deep breath and picked up your bey. Time to go at this for at least three more hours.

Your entire body was aching. Sweat rolled down the end of your brow, your chest constantly heaving up and down. You could only gasp for so much air at a time. Pivoting on one foot, you set your launcher, but weren't able to pull the cord. It was too much, your body was refusing to continue.

"That's enough. [Y/n]."

You lifted your tired eyes. Ashtem must have been watching for a while. He finally decided to speak up, mercifully letting you off the hook. Hopefully Boa was given time to rest, too. You slowly lifted yourself up from the ground and bowed your head to Ashtem. You didn't like him, but what else could you do.

Your hand pressed against the cold wall, just in case if you were to end up falling. Your muscles were dead tired, you were exhausted.

Reaching the door to the room you shared with Boa, you opened it with a shaky hand. Immediately after, you collapsed on the ground.

"[Y/n]-!?" A familiar voice called out. Your eyes were shut, it was too tiring to keep them open. "[Y/n], hey, say something!" Boa knelt on the ground beside you, carefully shaking your shoulder. He pressed a hand against your forehead. "You're burning up. . ."

"I-I'm fine. I'm fine Boa." You managed to mutter quietly. He furrowed his brows. He couldn't help but worry about you all the time. You really were his weakness.

"You're not." Seeing you like this was the worst feeling ever. If he could go through all your pain and his combined, he'd do it in a split second. Boa wanted you to be happy, not breathless on the ground by his knees.

"Trust me, Boa." Hesitantly, you started to lift yourself up into a sitting position. Boa quickly helped you, and you were leaning on him for the most part. "Trust me, I'm fine." You said this with the saddest smile he'd ever seen.

"I- I can't stand this. I hate this. I hate seeing you like this." Boa told himself not to cry at least a hundred times, but regrettably, his eyes were welling up with tears. Just so you didn't have to see him so broken, he pulled you into an embrace.

"Boa. . . I'm doing this for us." You whispered, gently running your fingers through his hair.

"I love you. I love you so much."

"I love you too."

He moved back to face you, pressing his forehead against yours.

"I promise you. One day this will all be over." His hands gripped yours, "all this pain will be over, and we'll be happy."

"Okay." You managed a smile for his sake. "I love you too, Boa."

He was a lot more emotional than you thought he was. Or maybe it was just around you that he felt this way, full of too many different feelings - all clashing with one another.

"I'll give anything, and everything, just for you." His palms pressed against your warm cheeks, before closing the tiny gap. His chapped lips pressed against yours while his thumbs rubbed away the tears streaking down your face. Once, twice, three times, and four. He kissed you as many times as he needed to feel better, holding you as tight as possible. "I'd die for you."
