Chapter 3 | Strong Tether

"Explain to me again why the two of us who were just brought back to life are now in Mexico?" I say as I walk next to Stiles, Lydia at my side as well.

Stiles sighs. "Because we have to help?"

"Well the plan sucks," I say as Lydia nods.

"I agree with her," she says while looking at me. "This plan does suck."

Stiles looks over at Lydia. "It doesn't suck that bad-"

"This plan is stupid and we're all going to die," Lydia snaps back, her lips pressed to form a straight line.

Stiles raises his eyebrow. "Should I be worried since you're the banshee?"

"Maybe," she says, her eyes bright.

I look back up at Stiles. "Where are we even going?"

Stiles looks up for a moment before he nods. "Right here."

I furrow my eyebrows before I look up and follow his gaze, seeing that he was looking at some type of building. He grabs my hand before we all walk up the door, being greeted by two men who were acting as if they were tough, but in reality, I could kick their asses any day. I knew that for a fact.

They say something in Spanish before they look down at Stiles and I, glancing at Lydia every now and again as well. Stiles reaches into his pocket before he pulls out a card; one that had the same looking skull on it. He holds it up into a camera before the door beeps, opening slowly. I guess we made it in.

The two men glare at us as we all three walk inside, not saying a single word. I hold onto Stiles' hand tighter as I look around the room, seeing that we were in some type of hallway. There were lights that lined the walls, along with a few decorative pieces here and there. The lights flicker a little as I turn and watch Lydia walk inside, the doors slamming shut behind her.

"I guess it's too late to back out now," I mutter as Stiles scoffs slightly, pulling me along gently. I turn back around as Lydia walks up beside me, the smell of worry radiating off of her. A part of me was nervous as well, but mostly because I was the only one who could protect Stiles and Lydia for the time being. Their lives were in my hands; and I was going to make sure neither of them would get hurt again because of me.

I feel the ground beneath me vibrate as we walk closer to another set of doors, making my heart start to race faster and faster. Stiles and Lydia both glance at me for a moment before pushing the doors open, showing us that the vibrating was coming from speakers; which were blaring music.

We were in a club.

"Where in the hell are we?" I say, looking around at all of the lights and people. There was a DJ up in far corner, a bar to our right, and many young adults dancing out in the middle of the room. Many of them were grinding on one another while they had some type of alcohol in their hand, laughing and having a good time.

"Well mark 'go to a mexican club' off of my bucket list," Lydia says while groaning lowly. I laugh a little before Stiles starts to walk towards the bar, which only causes Lydia and I to follow after him.

"We're here to save Derek, not get drunk," I say to Stiles who was now leaning against the counter.

Stiles shakes his head as he smiles, but that was before I felt a large hand on my shoulder, causing me to tense up. I glance over at Lydia and see that she had a hand on her shoulder as well, a worried look on her face just like me.

"Are you sure little, zorro? We have the best shots around," a man says, his voice low. I gulp before I turn and look at him, my eyes narrowing.

"We aren't here to drink," I say before Stiles holds out the bullet with the skull on it, dropping it into a glass on the counter top.

The man looks at the bullet before he pulls Lydia and I away from Stiles, causing my skin to grow hot. He takes his hand off of me before he glares at me, his tone changing.

"If you want your friend, follow me," he snaps before he turns around, walking off towards a set of stairs. The three of us exchange a look before we follow off after him, knowing that if we wanted Derek back, we had to cooperate.

We follow him down a couple of hallways before he leads us into a room, one that had about seven guards standing to the side. They begin to point their guns towards us as I step in front of Stiles and Lydia, worried that they might actually shoot. However, a woman tells them to back down.

"Welcome niños," she says, causing me to grit my teeth. "Have a seat."

We don't move for a moment before Stiles walks forward, sitting down in one of the seats that was in front of a desk. The woman stands as she watches Lydia take a seat next to Stiles, leaving me standing. I didn't mind however; I could keep an eye on them better this way.

"So what brings you to Mexico?" the woman says, smiling slightly.

Lydia straightens up and gets right down to business. "We know you have Derek."

"Hale?" she says, almost laughing. "What makes you think we have a Hale?"

Stiles sits up. "We found the bullets you left in his loft. We know he's here."

The woman raises her eyebrow. "And you think I'll just hand him over like that?"

Stiles shakes his head. "No, so that's why we brought this."

I watch as Stiles reaches into his coat, pulling out stacks of bills, 50,000 dollars to be exact. Apparently it was the money from when Void framed Derek and Chris, but I wasn't exactly around to know the whole story.

The woman doesn't seem fazed. "You know, it's not always smart to come alone."

I raise my eyebrow as I stare at the woman. "What makes you think we came alone?"

"As much as bringing a kitsune is enough, but you also brought a wolf into my home?" she says, glancing up at me.

"We brought an alpha," Stiles says, pride behind his tone.

She narrows her eyes before she nods towards some of the guards, causing them to leave the room. Five of them were still left in the room as the woman walks over to the window, looking out.

"Do you know what the dark moon is?" she says as Lydia sulks down a little.

She holds her breath. "It's the part of the lunar phase when the moon is least visible in the sky."

"But do you know what it means?" the woman says, her tone snappy.

Lydia bites her tongue. "It's a time of reflection and grief."

"Now tell me," she says, walking back over to the desk. "After all you have lost, why risk it all again for someone like Derek Hale?"

"Because we don't like to lose," Stiles says, his eyes narrowed. I lift my chin slightly as I watch the guards out of the corner of my eye, making sure they didn't make a move on us. I turn my head when I hear a walkie talkie go off, causing me to smile slightly.

"Stiles, take ten off of the table," I hear Scott's voice say.

I turn back towards the desk as Stiles reaches forward, taking a few stacks off of the table. The woman lifts her chin before she glares down at the three of us, Lydia raising her eyebrows.

"Why don't you just take the deal?" Lydia asks, raising her hand slightly.

She shakes her head. "I'm keen to follow the warning of a banshee, but I'm going to have to decline."

I stare at her for a moment, reading something on her face that I had just noticed. "You don't have him, do you?"

The woman's eyes flick up to me, showing that I had just guessed what she was afraid of us knowing. I begin to hear coughing out in the hallway, which belonged to Scott, Kira, and Malia. Before I can make any type of move, I feel two sets of hands grab me from behind, holding me back.

I try to make myself grow hot once again, but before I can, I feel something sting my side, causing me to fall to the ground. My vision begins to blur as I look up, watching as the guards grabbed Lydia and Stiles. My eyes burned orange as the woman walks over to me, Stiles' screams echoing in my head.

"Lights out, zorro."

----------

"...Sarah."

"Sarah please wake up."

"Sarah!"

I gasp awake as I sit up, my eyes wide with confusion. I could feel that they were still glowing their bright orange, but not on purpose. They slowly fade back to their normal shade of brown before I look over, seeing Stiles kneeling beside me. He smiles faintly before he pulls me in for a hug, myself hugging him back.

"Is everyone okay?" I ask before I stand up slowly, looking around the room and seeing that we were in some type of bathroom; one that looked like a replica from the movie Saw. It made my skin crawl.

"They took Lydia," Kira says as she walks up to me, Scott right behind her.

I shake my head as I begin to grow angry with myself. "It's my fault. I shouldn't have let them take her-"

"You couldn't have done anything Sarah," Stiles says, causing me to calm down slightly. "There were too many of them."

"I could have tried harder," I say, looking down at the ground. Stiles places his hand on my shoulder as he rubs it gently, showing me that he was here for me. It calmed my nerves, which was something Stiles was always good at.

"We need to get out of here," Scott says as he walks over to the door, trying to pry it open with his hands.

"It's no use," Kira says, shaking her head. "Look at those claw marks. Someone tried to get out of here before and I don't think they got anywhere."

Scott gives up before he backs away from the door, Malia crossing her arms. "Let's just jump whoever opens that door next and run for it."

"What about Lydia?" Stiles says, turning and looking at the girl who I barely know.

She shrugs. "What about her?"

"We can't just leave her here," Scott says, looking at Malia.

"Why not?" she says, acting as if Lydia's life didn't even matter.

Kira raises an eyebrow. "Is that what you would have done as a coyote? Leave her for dead?"

Malia nods. "If she was weak and injured, yeah. If hunting had been bad that season, I would eat her. Then I'd leave."

I try to push a mental image of that out of my mind before Scott speaks, trying to change the subject. "I wonder what the Calaveras want with her."

"I don't know, but I do know that we came here for absolute no reason," I say, remembering the look on that woman's face when I had mentioned Derek. "She said that she doesn't even have him."

"But maybe someone else took him," Scott says. "Coming here was our only lead."

I sigh as I shake my head. "But was coming here worth risking our lives? We don't even know what they're doing to Lydia right now."

"Lydia is tough," Stiles says, nodding. "She can take care of herself."

"Let's hope she can," I say, believing what Stiles was saying. I knew she could take care of herself, but could she really protect herself up against skilled hunters? I mean, they took all of us down, and we have more abilities than her.

I'm taken off guard once again when the metal door swings open, four men walking inside. I turn and glare at them before they poke Scott and Kira with that metal rod, causing them to fall to the ground. I try to make a move against them, but they beat me to it. I yelp as they sting me in the side again, causing me to fall to the ground half dazed.

I look up at Stiles when I see that he grabs his side, in the exact place where I had been shocked. I find this slightly interesting before I'm shocked again, causing me to jolt before I slip away into darkness once again.

Another update? I'm getting a little bit better at this I think.
