Chapter 12 | Consolidation

Sarah's POV

"Stiles..." I gasp out, straining to get even a small breath of air. If it was this bad for me, I couldn't even imagine Stiles. He was human, meaning he couldn't take it for much longer unlike me.

My vision starts to cloud as I look up at Stiles, watching the creature lift him up higher and higher without even flinching. I kept telling myself that it was over; that we both were goners. There was no way I could help Stiles while we were connected. It was like we were the same person. But I didn't give up hope...not yet.

I grind my teeth as I manage to sit up onto my knees, glaring up at the creature with the nastiest of glares. I wasn't sure what it was or what it wanted, but I did know that I wasn't going to let it kill Stiles. I wasn't going to let it win.

It takes everything I have to focus on my powers, but I somehow am able to create a small ball of fire in my hands. It wasn't much, but it was something at least. My arms raise shakily as light shines from my hands, causing a small amount of area around me to glow. I gasp once more before I throw the ball of fire towards the creature, making sure not to aim towards Stiles. My knees fail on me as I watch the fire land on the creatures chest, causing it to take a step backwards.

It must have lost it's balance, because it then drops Stiles to the pavement below. Air floods my lungs like water as I take it all in, already starting to feel better. My eyes flash up to Stiles as my heart races, seeing that he was coughing and spitting while lying on his side. I was angry that he was in pain, but that meant he was alive. Stiles was alive.

The creature stares at me with a confused expression as I get up onto my feet slowly, feeling my power starting to come back to me. My eyes glow orange as the thing growls at me, not making any sudden movements.

"Stiles..." I say, anger in my tone. "Run."

Stiles looks up at me. "I'm not leaving you-"

"Run!" I scream at him, not bothering to hear his reply. I scream as I run towards the creature, kicking it in the abdomen and pushing it backwards. "Go find Scott!"

Stiles hesitates as I look back at him, but he soon realizes that I was right. He knew that we didn't stand a chance and that we needed help, so he stands and runs off towards the school. I watch him leave for a moment before I turn back to the creature, making my hands grow hotter and hotter.

All I hear is the sound of the bones clanking together as the creature runs at me, it's eyes staring into mine as if it was looking into my soul. A scream leaves my lips as I bolt towards it, making it seem as if I was going to run right to it. However, that wasn't what I had in mind.

Instead, right before we had collided, I had gotten down and slid right underneath it. I guess all of those years of playing softball had paid off. The creature over runs me as I pop back up, now behind the thing. It doesn't get to turn around as I run from behind, leaping up and wrapping my hands around it's head.

I grunt as the thing tries to throw me off, but no way was I going to let go. My hands grow even hotter as I find the creatures eyes, burying my fingers into the sockets. I waited for the creature to growl or even to try harder to throw me off, but instead it acted as if I wasn't doing anything. As if my powers couldn't hurt it in any way.

A lump goes down my throat before it catches me off guard, grabbing me from the shirt and flinging me over the top of its head. The world seems to slow down as I'm in the air, holding my breath and knowing that this was going to hurt like hell when I hit the ground.

The air leaves my lungs again as I slam into the pavement, stunning me for a brief moment. I wasn't worried for myself however; I was worried about Stiles. I was worried about how he had reacted to what I had felt.

I don't get a chance to get back on my feet as the creature looks down at me, raising its foot and stepping onto my stomach. My hands clasp around its foot as I push it away from me, trying my best to keep it from stepping completely onto me. I knew that if it did, it would more than likely kill Stiles; if not me as well. I could tell that this thing weighted a lot and it showed no mercy.

"Stop..." I gasp out, my arms beginning to shake as I pushed the creature away from me. I knew that I couldn't hold this for much longer. Where the hell is Stiles?

I grunt and clench my teeth as my grip lessens, feeling as if I was trying to keep a dump truck off of me. My vision starts to blur as my strength fails, knowing that it was over. Knowing that help wasn't coming, but I was wrong.

I barely look up to see a bat fly across and hit the creatures head, causing it to stumble backwards yet again. My arms scream at me as I let its foot go, looking up to see that it was Lydia who had swung the bat.

"Come on!" she says as she extends her arm, helping me up off of the pavement. I stare at the bat and see that it was Stiles'; probably because he had dropped it when that creature was strangling him. I guess Lydia had seen it and decided to help.

My legs shake for a moment before they gain back their strength, allowing me to run off with Lydia at my side. She takes quick and short breaths as we run closer towards the school, leaving that creature behind us. I didn't know if it was following us or not, but I did know that I needed to find Stiles.

"Where is everyone?" Lydia breaths.

I shake my head. "I'm not sure. Stiles and I were looking for them before that thing came out of no where-"

"Stiles?" Lydia says, furrowing her eyebrows. "Where is he?"

"I told him to run," I say as we turn the corner. "I told him to go get help. What are you doing here?"

Lydia takes a deep breath as she starts to slow down. "I had a feeling."

"I take that as it's not a good one?" I say, causing Lydia to nod. I glance quickly over my shoulder, not seeing the creature. I grab Lydia's arm as we slow to a stop, hearing nothing but our racing hearts and quick breathing.

"Scott?" I fiercely whisper, my ears straining to catch any type of movement. However, I didn't hear a single thing other than Lydia and I.

Lydia looks over at me. "Anything?"

"Nothing-" I start to say before something grabs me from behind, causing me to let out a short scream before turning and grabbing the persons hand, twisting it so that their arm was now behind their back. But that was before I had noticed that it was Malia.

"What the hell Sarah!" she screams at me before I let her go, causing her to turn and glare at me.

I shake my head. "Have you seen Stiles?"

Malia's face drains. "Stiles is here?"

"Yeah," I say, licking my lips slowly. "I told him to go get help while I was fighting-"

"You told him to go off by himself?" she says, taking a step towards me. "You told him to go off on his own?"

My eyes narrow, noticing her snappy attitude. "I told him to run while I fought off that...thing."

"He could get hurt!" Malia screams at me. "You know he's not like us!"

I stick my face into Malia's. "I was trying to help him. I knew that he needed to get away before he seriously did get hurt."

Malia shakes her head, her sudden protectiveness making me cautious of her. "He could already be hurt."

I shake my head and speak before I can help myself. "No he's not, I would have felt it-"

"Felt it?" Lydia butts in, furrowing her eyebrows. "What do you mean feel it?"

I bite my tongue as Malia raises her eyebrows at me. "I mean...ever since Stiles and I came back, we've been able to feel each other's pain."

"What?" Lydia says, her eyes wide. "How long have you known?"

"Since Mexico," I say while staring at the ground. "We didn't tell you because we thought you'd worry."

Malia growls. "Well guess what? Now you've made us pissed off."

"Actually no," Lydia says, staring at me. "It's quite interesting, but it could also mean a lot of things."

I turn to Lydia, ignoring Malia's snappy comment. "What do you mean?"

"Well he's a human and you're a kitsune; well, sort of a kitsune. If you both can feel one another's pain, it makes me wonder what other qualities you share," Lydia proceeds to say, making me grow even more nervous.

"So what you're saying is that they might share powers?" Malia says, suddenly interested. More than likely because it was involving Stiles.

Lydia nods. "Maybe, but what I'm more worried about is-"

Lydia stops talking just when the sound of fighting sounds, causing my heart to drop. Mine and Malia's head whip towards the sound, seeing Scott up on the balcony fighting off not just one creature, but two. And if things couldn't get any better, Stiles was up there as well; pressed up against the wall and trying to avoid the fighting.

"Stiles!" I scream before I take off running, hearing Malia take off after me as well. However, I was faster than her and happened to reach Scott before she did. When I did get there, the creatures were beating the living crap out of him as Stiles watched; not sure what to exactly do.

One of the creatures presses Scott's head up against the pillar as the other one comes running at Malia and I, it's eyes just as dark as the one I had encountered earlier. My eyes flash orange before I extend my arms, letting another one of my fireballs land directly in the creatures chest. I expected for it to falter, but it did nothing of the sort.

I hold my breath as the thing grabs me by the neck and throws me over towards Scott, who was already laying there beat up. It's only a matter of seconds before Malia is laying next to us as well, causing Stiles to run over to us and try and help us up.

The two creatures stare at us as I shake my head. "What are those things?"

"Berserkers," Scott says, almost out of breath. I start to push myself up off the ground to fight a little bit longer, but instead I hear a loud scream come from behind us.

Everyone turns and looks to see Kira standing there; her katana held out in front of her. She screams at the berserkers before running at them, using her sword to fight them both off. For a moment I thought that that would do the trick, but I was far from right. The katana did little to no damage to them; even though Kira thought she was doing a lot.

She stops and turns to smile at Scott, but that was all the Berserkers needed to stop her. In that little split second, they had flung her sword out of her hand before throwing her back towards us, causing her to land on the other side of Scott. Kira grunts as Scott scoots closer to her, asking her briefly if she was alright.

All of us huddle together as the berserkers start to come towards us, ready to finish us all off. Stiles clasps his hand around mine as I hold him back, knowing that there was no way we could fight these things off. I guess that sometimes you can't always beat the bad guys. In this case, two bone creatures who I've never even heard of before in my life.

We all thought it was over before we hear a growling come from down the balcony, causing all of us to look out and see Derek running towards the berserkers. The two bone creatures turn and fight him back, but Derek had smarter moves than they did. We watched silently as he kicked and punched them, doing his best to do any kind of damage.

It was then that Derek threw a punch at one of the berserkers, which allowed one of them to catch his fist and throw him into one of the sets of lockers. I had to blink my eyes rapidly in order to see what happened next, but it appeared to me that Derek was transforming back into his old self again. Like the more fighting he did, the closer he was to his present day self.

So we all watched as Derek continued to fight the Berserkers, still trying his best but the creatures still throwing him around as if it was nothing. This goes on for a little while as we watch him start to transform, none of us saying a single word. It wasn't until a loud roar coming from somewhere off towards the parking lot that stopped the fighting; causing the two Berserkers to finally run off and leave us alone.

All of us hold our breath as Derek turns around and faces us, now back to his normal self. We all smile at him since he was back, but that was when his eyes glowed a bright yellow, not blue.

Scott and Kira rush off of the ground to go to Derek, but Lydia, Malia, Stiles, and I stayed put for the time being. We all sit there in amazement before I turn back to Lydia, remembering what she was telling me earlier.

"What did you say you were worried about?" I ask, my chest heaving huge breaths.

Lydia licks her lips before speaking. "I'm worried about what happens when you develop the same qualities as the other...meaning that your protoplasms might amalgamate into one."

"Speak english please," I say, my eyes wide as I tried to grasp those big words.

Lydia sighs. "It means that you two might become the same person."

-----

Don't ya just love cliffhangers? cause I do a lot.

Anyways, in case you guys didn't see my message, I am going on Semi-Hiatus due to school starting today and I'm swamped with so many things that I can hardly breath. So, unfortunately, Wattpad was the first thing I'll have to give up for awhile. So I won't be updating very often (except for maybe the weekends) but other than that, don't expect regular updates.

Sorry about that, but school comes first. I love you all so so much and I hope you understand <3
