Chapter 11 | Blackened Lungs

Sarah's POV

Need another reason to hate McCall? Well, he had told Derek everything. And I mean everything.

"You lied to me!" Derek says as we walk into Scott's room, causing him to turn and slam Stiles' head into the wall. Stiles grunts as he struggles against his grip, causing me to step forward and pull Derek away. He refuses against me before I make my hands grow hot, causing him to yelp and jump away from both of us.

"Don't touch him!" I snap, fire in my eyes. No way will I let him put his hands on Stiles again.

Stiles straightens up as he turns and glares at Derek, not saying anything. "I want to talk to the Alpha. I want to talk to Scott."

I groan. "Seriously? You're going to make us have to go get Scott?"

Derek crosses his arms. "Well I'm done talking to you two."

"I'll go call him," Stiles says dryly as he turns and walks out of the room, leaving Derek and I alone. I cross my arms as I glare at him, sick of having to babysit him. And I'm not even getting paid.

"You really are a pain in the ass," I spit, Derek only shaking his head at me. It looked like he was about to snap something back at me, but he stopped himself. Must be because he had forgotten he said he wasn't talking to me.

I smirk at him before I hear a loud noise come from downstairs, causing me to whip my head around. It had sounded like something had fallen, but I wasn't for sure. I leave Derek behind as I begin to walk to the door, sticking my head out and looking down the hallway.

"Stiles?" I say, not hearing any reply. A part of me was worried, but I knew that he was fine. I would have felt something if he was hurt.

I sigh before I turn back and face Derek, stopping cold. Instead of seeing Derek standing there, I saw a blonde woman there as well, alarmed to see me. I guess she thought she wouldn't see me here, and I sure didn't think I'd see her either.

"Not you again," she says, her voice making it clear of who I assumed she was. Kate.

I furrow my eyebrows. "Again?"

She didn't need to say anything before I put the pieces together. The blonde hair and the voice made me realize who she really was. She was the girl who caused my family and Scott to wreck. She was the one who almost killed us.

"Never mind that sweetheart," she says, smiling slightly. But there was bitterness behind it. "I'm just here to pick up what's mine."

My eyes flash orange out of anger, which only causes Kate to raise her eyebrows. "A fire kitsune? Didn't think I'd ever see one of those."

My eyes narrow. "Well I guess you get the full experience."

"Bet you haven't seen a were-jaguar before either," she smirks before her eyes glow green, causing my blood to run cold. Sure I sort of knew about her being that, but I wasn't sure what she was capable of. For all I know, she could be a lot stronger than me.

Derek shakes his head. "What is going on?"

"Just stay back," Kate says, desire in her tone. It made me wonder why she said it like that. I didn't have much time to question it before the next thing I know, claws are flying towards my face.

I dodge them just barely as I jump backwards, already beginning to feel my skin grow hot. Most of it was out of anger, but the other part was just because I needed to defend myself and make sure she didn't get Derek. Whatever the reason she wanted him, I knew it wasn't good.

She growls at me, but it sounded more of a jaguar rather than a wolf. After she does this, her face slowly starts to transform; her skin turning purple and canines extending. Derek steps backwards as he watches her, not really sure what was exactly happening. I wasn't really sure either, but I wasn't going to back down from a fight.

I focus on the heat in my hands as Kate comes at me again, tackling me so that we landed in the hallway. She goes to claw at my face before I press my hands against her chest, causing her to yelp out from the heat. She jerks off of me as I sit up, wondering what in the world Stiles and McCall were doing right now. Shouldn't they be hearing this?

"Nicely done," Kate says as she stands, backing away from me. She looks down at where I had burned her, the skin already beginning to heal. "But I'm afraid I'm going to have to run."

My blood boils as she turns to get out of the house, grabbing Derek with her as well. She drags him with her as I get up onto my feet, taking off after the both of them. I wasn't going to let her get away. I wasn't going to let her get away for everything she's done.

"Stop!" I yell as she pushes Derek out of the window, but she wasn't fast enough. I grab her shirt by the collar before I yank her back inside, throwing her to the floor below. My right hand grows hot before I press it against her neck, feeling and hearing the flesh beginning to sizzle.

Her eyes drain back to their normal color as she cries out, but it was more of a plea. "Sarah...let me go..."

I wrinkle my nose up in disgust and rage. "Why in the hell would I let you go?"

"Because I know what you did," she says, causing me to lessen my grip. "I know that you killed people. I know that you did things you regret, so that's why you won't kill me. You couldn't do it even if you wanted to."

This takes me back, allowing me to remember everything all over again. Like how I had stabbed that guy in Stiles' room and how I had plunged that sword into Stiles' chest. When she had mentioned this, it was like my eyes had opened. It felt like I wasn't myself again and that I was on the verge of killing someone else. And that happened to be Kate.

I guess she wanted me to remember, because that was what she used against me to catch me off guard. I don't even know what's happening as she takes her claws and stabs them into my back, causing me to let go of her entirely. I gasp from the pain as I fall to the side, the spot stinging terribly. Kate gasps as she recovers, getting up off of the floor and not daring to look back. I look up hazily as she jumps out of the window, not even making a sound as she lands in the grass.

I curse at myself before I hear someone come running into the room, but I didn't need to look to know who it was. "Sarah?"

I grab my back as Stiles comes kneeling beside me, scanning me for wounds. "Kate...she took Derek."

Stiles shakes his head. "That doesn't matter. Are you alright? I had felt something and came running back."

"She just clawed me in the back," I say as I sit up further. "Where were you?"

Stiles shakes his head, looking as if he was angry at himself. "I went downstairs to get my phone before we heard something outside, which led McCall and I to go check it out. We didn't hear or see anything, but that was when my hands started to sweat. I knew that it had to of been from you."

I groan as Stiles helps me up further. "I tried to stop her, but she was too smart..."

"She likes to mess with your head," Stiles says. "It's her signature thing."

I nod. "And her face was purple and her eyes were green..."

"Were-jaguar," he confirms again. "I'm going to go call Scott. Are you sure you're okay?"

It was already almost completely healed as he says this. "Yeah, I'm fine. Are you okay? That had to of hurt you too."

Stiles shrugs. "I'm fine. I didn't really feel anything other than a slight stinging."

I nod stiffly as I stand, already beginning to feel better. Stiles helps me up before he turns to walk out of Scott's room, more than likely to go get his phone like he had said earlier. I have to let my vison refocus before I look up at Stiles, causing me to furrow my eyebrows. On the back of Stiles' shirt was five red blotches, in the same exact spot where I had been clawed.

It was blood.

"Are you sure you're alright?" I ask Stiles again, who was now driving the Jeep towards the school. We had learned from Scott that Kate was going there for some vault, but we didn't know all of the details.

Stiles nods his head but looks at me as if I was crazy; most likely because this is the third time I've asked him. "I'm sure, Sarah. Why do you keep asking? You sound like you know something I don't. You can't see the future now can you?"

I shrug, not really wanting to tell him about the blood. "No, I'm just making sure."

"I promise I'm okay," Stiles says before facing the road again. "Well, at least I am for the time being."

I furrow my eyebrows. "What does that mean?"

Stiles scoffs. "Well we are driving towards the school."

"What about it?" I ask, leaning forwards.

Stiles glances over at me. "You haven't learned by now that nothing good happens at the school? Especially at night?"

He did have a point. "We'll just have to be careful then. Nothing is going to happen to you, I promise."

"Don't worry about me," he says while shrugging. "Worry about yourself."

I raise my eyebrow. "Isn't that the same thing now? Remember you can feel everything I feel and same goes for me."

"Well there you go," Stiles says as he pulls into the school parking lot, pulling to the side and not bothering to park it correctly. I start to open the door before I stop when I see Stiles reach into the back, grabbing something. It was a bat. "What? I got to protect myself somehow."

I laugh slightly as I hop out of the Jeep, walking around so that I was standing next to Stiles. "Hear anything?"

I listen closely but shake my head. "No, but there is some type of smell."

"Smell?" Stiles says, his eyes wide. "It's not blood is it?"

I shake my head, trying to figure out what this smell was. "No, it's not that. It smells like the same thing back in Mexico."

"Mexico..." Stiles says, his voice drifting. My eyes scan the parking lot, searching for any sign of Scott and Malia as Stiles thinks to himself. I wrinkle my nose up farther when the smell grows stronger, making me grow even more curious. What was it?

I hear a faint clanking behind me before I turn around, met with something I wasn't prepared for. Standing behind Stiles and I was some type of bone creature; one that smell exactly like that scent I had been smelling. My eyes scan it as it growls at us, my heart already starting to race in my chest.

"Uh Stiles," I say, taking a step backwards. Stiles turns around then and stares up at the creature, his face draining.

"Where's a dog when you need one," he says before grabbing my arm, tugging me away. "Run!"

He doesn't have to tell me twice as I turn and run with Stiles, heading closer towards the school. My heart races in my ears as I keep up with Stiles, who surprisingly was just as fast as me. The bat in his hand bobs up and down as we take a sharp left, my ears straining to hear anything behind me. I wanted to turn around and try and defend ourselves, but I could tell that thing was close to invincible. For crying out loud, it's made of bones.

"What is that thing!" Stiles yells to me as we run, starting to slow down slightly.

I shake my head as I extend my arms. "Do I look like google? How am I supposed to know!"

Stiles starts to snap back a sarcastic comment, but the next thing I knew, he wasn't there running any more. I slam to a halt as I whip around, my eyes wide in fear for Stiles. The creature was standing there now, it's boney hands wrapped around Stiles' neck. Stiles gasps as the creature lifts him upwards, his lungs gasping for air.

I start to run towards him but I'm soon on the ground gasping for air as well. My hands clasp around my throat as I look up at the creature, watching it lift Stiles further up. I needed to get up. I needed to help.

But I couldn't.

How is this chapter 11 while I'm still on episode 2? What is this sorcery?

It has also come to my attention that kitsunes are "known" to only be female, while in this book, I have already stated that Sarah's real brother is a kitsune. It might not be the right terminology, but to hell with that. It's my story so I do what I want, lol.

Dedicated to zaharra_CCA because she's always making me laugh with her comments and is da realist
