Chapter One: Death can be Unexpected

"How is it going down there on the bottom layer boys?" Mitch asked as he ran over the blocks of pressure-plated TNT blocks, trying not to fall as the TNT fell from under his feet. He was playing the Minecraft mini game TNT-Run (or as his friends called it, TNT Spleef and Tron Spleef), and his friends, Adam and Jason had all fallen to the bottom layer of the five floors, Quentin, or the Fish, had fallen into the abyss below the floors, leaving him out of the game, Quentin flying around and spectating from Creative Mode. Mitch was still on the third layer, and was determined not to let Adam win for a second match in a row.

"It's actually kind of sh-" Adam replied before Jason ran in front of him, making him fall into the abyss as well.

SkythekidRS fell into the void

"JASON YOU SUCK!!!!!!" Adam yelled, banging on his keyboard. Mitch, who had his door open, could hear the sounds of both Adam yelling and Jason laughing his head off from down the hall as well as in the Skype call. Undistracted, he kept his finger on the sprint button and kept running.

"That's what you get for last round. Wait...what are you doing?!?!?!?" Jason called, before his character seemed to spaz out before jumping into the void.

TrueMU fell into the void

"Screw you Adam!" he heard Jason yell. Mitch guessed that Adam had walked into his room and mashed the buttons on the younger Youtuber's keyboard. Mitch cheered, having won the game, and didn't have a care as his character fall two layers into the void.

BajanCanadian fell into the void

"You want to outro us fish?" Adam asked Quentin as his voice was back at his own microphone instead of an upset Jason's.

"I'M NOT A FISH!!!!" Quentin yelled.

"Anyways guys," Adam said, Mitch imagining a smirk on his face, "that's going to do it for this video, if you guys liked this video, make sure to leave a comment and a like, and don't forget to check out these other beautiful people's channel's in the description below! Bye!"

With that Mitch stopped his recording, and ended the Skype call as well. He stretched in his chair as he heard the others exiting their rooms and heading downstairs. He lived in this huge two floor house with his good friends Ian, Adam, Jason, Jerome, Ty, and Quentin. Their friend group was also known as Team Crafted, a group of Minecraft youtubers who did, well, Minecraft videos. They all played with each other the most, but they also played with other non-team Minecrafters as well, such as MunchingBrotato, BashurVerse, CaptainSparklez, and SethBling.

He got up and walked down the stairs, in his normal attire of an open red and black checkered hoodie, the hood pulled over his messy brown hair, jeans, red converse, and a white v-neck shirt. He tried to slide down the railing on the stairs downstairs, but that just ended in him eating marble as he fell off and face-planted to the floor at the bottom. He pushed himself up on his elbows and shook the pain out of his head, his hood falling off his head.

"You need help there?" he heard someone ask sarcastically from next to him. Mitch turned himself onto his back, to find his best friend Jerome above him. He was wearing a black hoodie with the words 'POSH' on the front, with jeans, black sneakers, and a black baseball hat on top of his head, his short brown hair poking to from the edges of the hat. He was snickering as he reached a hand out to help his best friend up, and Mitch took it, Jerome pulling him up.

"You didn't see that." Mitch said with a smile as he gave Jerome a friendly shove, his friend laughing. Mitch and Jerome walked into the kitchen, finding Adam, Ty, and Jason laughing with each other, Ty trying to balance a coffee mug on his head, and he shook a bit, Mitch being able to see coffee brimming the mug fully, Ty having a partially nervous look as he tried to balance it. He was wearing a black and purple jersey with gray jeans, with black sneakers, and of course, the coffee mug balancing on top of his sleek brown hair. He saw Mitch and Jerome walk in, and gave them a worried look.

"Help." He said simply as he straightened himself, the coffee mug almost falling off his head again. Adam and Jason were laughing, and Adam waved to the two as they walked in.

"You know you could just take the mug off your head right Ty?" he said, before laughing again. He was wearing a long-sleeved black shirt that had the golden letters on it spelling 'budder', and was wearing jeans with gray converse, his glasses on the counter next to him.

Jason put on a mischievous smile and picked up his and Adam's coffee mug off of the table. He was wearing a bright cyan t-shirt and jeans (like everyone else in the house...) with blue sneakers, with a backward navy baseball cap on, keeping his light brown hair out of his face. He put both of the coffee mugs in Ty's empty hands, leaving him with trying to keep three mugs from spilling over. "Not anymore he can't!" Jason, everyone in the kitchen laughing harder than before, except for Ty, who gulped nervously, but even he couldn't help but smile.

"Just put the mugs down first dude!" Jerome managed to gasp between his loud laughs. Mitch smiled as he stepped forward and flicked Ty between the eyes. Ty jumped back and dropped one mug to cover his face. The mug in his left hand and the one on his head both fell to the ground and shattered, leaving only one mug unshattered. Adam, Jerome, Jason, and Mitch jumped back as the coffee made a puddle round Ty's feet, making the teen curse angrily under his breath.

"Hey would you look at that, Quentin finished getting the Xbox set up... gotta go!" Jason said nonchalantly as he backed toward the door, before breaking into a sprint for the game room.

"Hey! Make sure you tell him that we broke his favorite mug!" Ty yelled as he ran out.

Mitch laughed and looked over to the clock on the stove, it read '12:30'. "Hey, it's already 12:30. Anyone up for McDonald's?" Mitch asked, everyone in the kitchen agreed, and Mitch grabbed the car keys off of the kitchen table and ran out, leaving Jerome and the others to clean up the mess.

"Make sure you buy new mugs!" he heard Adam shout as Mitch ran out.

He opened the front door and onto the porch, running into the person standing right outside of the door. Both of them fell to the ground, rubbing their heads. "Hey, watch where you're going dude!" Ian said as he stood up, helping Mitch up while he narrowed his icy blue eyes. He was wearing a plain blue t-shirt  with black jeans (EVERYONE HAS JEANS.)with black Jordan's, and his normally shoulder-length blackish-brown hair pulled back into a short ponytail.

"Sorry Ian," Mitch said with an apologetic smile, "just running get to get food for the others. Well, and a few coffee mugs. Wanna come?"

Ian rose an eyebrow. "Sure, but umm....coffee mugs...?"

They froze when they heard sounds angry yells (probably from Quentin... Mitch thought) and the sound of hysterical laughter. Mitch shoved Ian toward one of the two cars in the driveway, a black one, and jumped in, starting up the car.

Ian sighed as he got in as well, and Mitch pulled out of the driveway. "Care to explain...?" he asked. Mitch just chuckled a bit as they drove off.

"That's not important. It's just important that Quentin and Ty are going to kill me when we get home..."

Mitch sighed as he got out of the car, holding the bag with a few new glass coffee mugs in them. Ian was busy balancing the food from McDonald's in his arms, and opened the door, and walked inside, leaving the front door wide open.

Mitch followed, but stopped, remembering that he forgot to get the keys from the car. He cursed under his breath and put the bag on the floor by the door, and ran back out. He opened the door to the car and shut it off, taking the keys. As he got up and shut the door, something caught his eye in the street.

It was a girl. Mitch thought she looked to be about 15, and she had straight blonde hair that went a bit past her shoulders, and was wearing a jade colored scarf around her neck, which swept past her long sleeved pale (almost white) green shirt and white-gray leggings, with black boots. Mitch rose an eyebrow. It's the middle of the freaking summer! Why the heck is she in full winter mode? He thought, and why is she just standing in the middle of the street like that? That's when he saw something else coming down the street. It was a speeding 4x4 truck, and the driver was not paying attention has he was flying down road, not noticing the girl in the middle of his path, the girl also being oblivious of the car.

"Hey Mitch, you just going to stand there or are you coming inside?" Ian asked, poking his head through the doorway.

Ignoring Ian, Mitch, out of instinct, broke into a sprint for the road, he knew he wasn't going to be able to get the girl's attention from where he was, at least not in time for her to get away, without thinking, he ran out of the open fence to the street, and tackled into the girl, pushing her out of the way of the truck.

Time seemed to slow down for Mitch as the girl tumbled out of the way of the car, and Ian yelled frantically at him from behind the fence. Mitch felt his heart skip a few beats, and the last thing he saw was the speeding truck quickly approach from the left of his vision, before he felt a wave of immeasurable pain wash over his body, and then everything went black...

Jerome hummed to himself as he, Jason, and Adam were on their knees, cleaning the floor of the spilt coffee, Ty and Quentin watching with smug looks on their faces.

"Next time, don't screw with my favorite coffee mug!" Quentin snapped. He was wearing a pale blue t-shirt that had a design of a Mudkip on it, and with black pants, with blue sneakers. He pushed up his glasses, and laughed along with the others as Adam flicked his coffee filled paper towel at Jason, who jumped back.

Adam's attention turned to Jerome, who was humming to the tune of 'Centuries'. Adam snickered, and stood up, dramatically putting a one hand over his chest, and one into the air, and started singing along with Jerome's hum. "Remember meeeeee for centurieeeeeees! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE- oof!" Adam stopped in the middle of his signature (and annoying) 'wee' screech, as Ty gave him a swift punch to the gut.

They all started laughing, before Jason hushed them all, the others giving him skeptical looks. "If you're trying to tell a funny joke man," Quentin said sarcastically. "Then I hear crickets."

Jerome and Ty laughed, before Jason angrily hushed them again. "No, seriously! Listen!"

They all went dead silent, and indeed, they heard some commotion coming from outside. They could hear a faint yelling, which they all recognized as Ian, with the sudden squealing of tires.

"W-was that Ian?" Adam stuttered as Jason steadily stood and walked over to one of the windows facing the front yard. He moved the curtain out of the way, so he could see out, and a few moments later, his face completely paled, and his eyes shot wide open. He stepped back, before breaking for the front door, the others looking at each other with worried looks as they heard the loud sound of a door slamming into a wall ringing in their ears. They wearily got up and followed, Jerome catching a shopping bag laying by the door, before ignoring it and running out of the house. Ty and Adam were blocking his view from what was happening, the two also blocking the way off of the patio. Adam had his hands clapped over his mouth, both of them with wide eyes, and shaky bodies. Jerome shouldered his way past them, and he stumbled out onto the driveway, and put his hand against one of the cars for support.

As he regained his balance, his eyes trailed over to the street, where he could see an unevenly parked 4x4 truck, which had a decoration of a spiky skull on its front (which had blood on it, which Jerome noticed with a shutter), and two people over something on the street. He recognized Ian kneeling down instantly, but not the other person, which was a man about his age, with a pale yellow t-shirt and a pair of white pants, and Jerome, with a shiver, noticed a trail of tears running down Ian's cheeks. Quentin and Jason were there as well, Jason talking urgently into his phone, Quentin telling him some of the things to say. Jerome also noticed a blonde girl across the road, glaring at the 4x4, fully adorned in winter clothes, but Jerome shoved his skeptic thoughts aside, wanting to see what the commotion was about.

Jerome wearily opened the fence, and he finally saw what was lying in the middle of the street. He felt his heart skip a beat as his eyes shot open. No... it can't be....NO! He thought as he stepped forward, feeling his body shake as he felt warm tears run down his cheeks. "NO!" he yelled, disbelief lacing his voice.

The unfamiliar man and Ian whipped around, giving Jerome a better view of the mess, making him choke out another sob. In the middle of the street... was Mitch.

Mitch's body was limp, and at an awkward angle, his body perfectly still. One of legs at an angle that it definitely shouldn't have been in, and there was pool of blood around his body, and only then did Jerome see that blood was seeping through his (formally) white shirt, and his neck was in a slightly mangled state, covered with blood, and many scratches lining it, the neck also being at a slightly abnormal angle. Jerome looked to his face, which was hard to see from the tears obscuring his vision. Mitch's usually playful brown eyes were now glazed over, and a thin trail of blood was coming from his mouth.

Jerome walked a bit closer and collapsed onto his knees to the concrete, ignoring the blood that was getting on his pants. He grabbed his best friend's shoulder, and shook it hoping for his friend to smile at him, tell him it was just some cruel prank or something. He felt someone put a hand on his shoulder, and spun his head around to see Adam giving him a mournful and sympathetic look.

Jerome cringed as he heard Jason (tearfully) state that he had called an ambulance, but he also said, under is breath, that he didn't think Mitch would make it, but obviously it wasn't as quiet as he thought it would be, because Ty gave him a powerful punch to the shoulder.

"C-Come on Mitch..." he said, once again shaking the limp Benja's shoulder again. "W-Wake up... please..." he whimpered, although, deep within he knew his friend wasn't. He ignored the sympathetic looks and calls of his friend, and broke down, holding his head as he cried, sobs racking his shoulders.

"MIIIIIITCH!!!"
