Chapter Fourteen
Guysss, please, if you're reading this, I need you to pretty please read the author's note in the end. PLEASE. Thank you.
Iris POV
The drive home was quiet, almost as if my two brothers could sense how nervous I was to see my mother again, did she ever care? Or was it all a lie? And most importantly, how the hell do my brothers know me so well?
Leandro carries me silently into the house, not even bothering to ask whether I'd like to be carried or not, because we both know the answer, ever since I found out I didn't have to talk anymore, I've been making my brothers carry me around.
I mean, I've always known in my bones that I'd be a lazy bum if it weren't for Antoine, I hate doing anything productive, but being back home with my brothers made me realise just how lazy I can actually be.
I know that technically I was home for less than twenty four hours, and that most of my brothers barely talked to me then, but in the hospital, I realised that I can get them to do almost anything I want. It's pretty awesome.
If I want to go somewhere and don't want to walk, there's a brother for that, if I want to eat but don't know what to eat, there's a brother for that too. Anything I want, it's done without me even saying anything. It's incredible.
Anyway, Leandro walks straight up to my room and gently places me on the bed, careful to not touch my ribs at any point. I simply adjust my body so that I'm now laying across my bed like a starfish.
"Thanks for carrying me, Leo." I tell him, staring at the ceiling.
"You're welcome." He laughs. "We both know you weren't going to walk up the stairs on your own."
"Hush, I mean, I have so many brothers for a reason. What good are you guys if you don't carry me around?" I ask rhetorically, knowing the silly goose is going to give me a response anyway.
"I mean, we're good at almost anything, as long as you don't tell Rocco to cook. He'll burn the whole house down trying to make a toast."
"See, so you guys can do almost anything for me. That's kinda cool, plus you guys don't say no because you feel guilty for whatever reason. I'll pretend I understand the reason, but it's whatever." I reply.
"How do you know we feel guilty about something?"
"It's kind of obvious, silly, it's in the way you guys rush to do everything I ask, and the way y'all look at me when you think I'm not paying attention. There's also guilt in your eyes whenever you look at me because contrary to popular belief, you actually suck at hidding your emotions. I think I should work in your mafia or whatever to train you better." I state nonchalantly, stifling a yawn.
"You're pretty perceptive, huh?" Leandro asks, pursing his lips.
"Yeah, it's why we get along." I retort, watching him shake his head at me.
"Yeah, yeah, you want something to eat?"
"No, not right now, wanna watch a movie instead?" I ask, sitting up.
"Sure, I don't see why not. I'll go get the popcorn. Don't tell the others we're watching anything or they'll want to join." Leandro says before he walks off.
I nod anyway, knowing he can't see me. Sometimes I think I should just be a ninja, I could stab him in the back right now and he would never have seen it coming. Or maybe an assassin would work better because I'm pretty freaking clumsy. Maybe I can even make Leo be my assistant. It'd be so cool.
I'd basically just be ordering him around, and thats always fun. He'd get sick of me though, I can't have that happening. He's my favourite person in the whole world, he can't get sick of me, so never mind, I'll just make Luka be my assistant, but I'll tell him he's my sidekick so he'll agree.
Ten minutes later, Leandro walks into the room with a big bowl of popcorn in his hands, and a couple sweets. I've learnt over the past few days that I'm actually obsessed with chocolate, it's so good, especially dark chocolate and I don't care what anyone else says.
"Why'd it take so long for you to make popcorn?" I ask.
"I burnt it.... Thrice." Leandro admits, smiling sheepishly, making me laugh.
"How the hell did you do that?" I ask, wondering when I started using the word hell in my sentences.
"Uh I looked up a tutorial of how to make popcorn on the stove because I heard that it tastes best when popped on the stove, and then well... I don't know, I ended up burning it." He shrugs, the tips of his ears turning red in embarrassment which only makes me laugh more.
"Leo, where's mama?" I ask suddenly, bursting the little bubble of happiness in the air. I couldn't help it anymore, okay?
"I don't know, Leggero" (Light) Leo sighs, sitting beside me on the bed.
"Does she not care about me anymore? Is there something wrong with me?" I question, frowning slightly.
"I don't know, Iris, but there isn't anything wrong with you, sweetheart. I just think that maybe there's something going on with her and that's why she's acting the way she is. But she'll probably come around, yeah? Maybe she's still adjusting to being back home, you know?" He assures me, smiling gently.
"Are you sure? Because I don't know, it just doesn't seem like she cares anymore."
"I'm sure she still cares, but I don't know, I think she needs to adjust properly, kiddo. I'm not a fan of the way she's acting either, but tell you what, if she doesn't come around, I'll call Nonna and get her to smack some sense into mama, yeah?"
"Okay, if you say so." I smile.
"I do, now how 'bout that movie?"

Freaking hell, two updates in such a short period of time? Wow, that's probably a new record for me lollll. Guys, we're at 7K, I mean it's a little above that but like WE'RE THERE.
Anywho, I wanted y'all to read the note because even though I'm horrible at writing just this story, I have like ten others in my drafts, so once this is finished, which one would you guys actually be interested in reading? Like I need a genuine answer cuz I have chapters and chapters to write after this 😭
1. Story about two serial killers who get drunkenly get married in Vegas and don't know that they're both serial killers. Kind of a romcom.
2. A dating coach tries to teach a billionaire with zero game how to treat a woman and how to actually get laid. Also a romcom, but I'm not about to spoil it.
3. Fantasy book about a girl who's the crown princess of her land (who's the daughter of the best known hero and the best known villain) who gets kidnapped by someone who doesn't know who's kid she is.
4. Book about a girl who's been invisible her whole life who's life is suddenly turned upside down when she's kidnapped by people who claim to have just "saved" her.
5. Book about a girl with a tragic past and an assassin who falls in love with her when she beats up his target. May be a fantasy book, still unsure.
6. Book about a girl who's never known what love and family are, and a boy who's been loved his entire life.
7. Book about two broken people who fall in love but they're both unsure if love is enough.
Yeahhhhh, that's it for now. Lmk what you think thoooo, please. Pretty please. Like I beg of you please.
