I carefully watched Ellie as she seemed to freeze when she noticed that it was actually Baron who had snuck up behind her. He lightly brushed his fingertips on the sides of her exposed skin, which seemed to spark her right up.
With his hands on her hips and her hands on arm of his, caressing his muscles with pleasure, they stared into each other's eyes and smiled as they chatted. I wanted to be him right now, in that particular position with Ellie.
Today, she was looking as beautiful as she did yesterday and the day before. And, of course, all the days before that... She was beautiful every single day, after all.
I was almost disgusted by the way he has been taking advantage of her as of late. He's married, for God's sake, and whenever I try to tell Ellie that, she gets all offensive and tells me to stay out of her business. Why is she protecting this guy for, anyways?
I understand that he's currently separated from his wife, but he's still married at the end of the day, as far as I'm concerned. Lillie seems to agree with me, as I've heard them argue about it from time to time before.
Earlier today, I told Ellie – after I followed her into her locker room – that I didn't want to see her get completely crushed in the end because he runs back to his wife. She simply told me in return: "My life isn't any of your business, Seth Rollins. He can't break a heart that doesn't exist, anyways."
She plays herself off as being cold-hearted, but she's not really like that at all. She's better than that. Better than me, anyways. I've always cared about her, but I can't dare tell her that, though. She'll tell me to just stop talking altogether.
So, alas, I took a huge deep breath and turned on my heel, watching her fade away as I kept her in the distance. I didn't want to watch her anymore. I didn't want to care anymore or admire her.
Right as I settled into my rental car and before I cranked it up, I decided to try to text her one last time. I wrote to her: Just talk to me already, El. I miss you. A lot. We never talk outside of the ring anymore.
I was man-enough to admit to her almost every single day that I truly do miss her. She hates me for all that I've apparently done to her. No, it's why Sasha has done to her. I didn't have shit to do with that.
After waiting the full five minutes for her to text me back, she didn't and, so, I cranked my car up and headed straight for the local hotel for the night. I was tired and over stressed.
Arriving at the hotel, I parked and got out, grabbing my backpack and slung that over my back. I headed inside, making sure to keep my head down and to stay out of everybody's way.
I pressed the button for the elevator and it soon came open, so I stepped inside and pressed 5, out of the many numbers there, for my room's floor. The doors began to shut until a hand slid in right before they did.
The doors reopened and that's where Enzo stood with a smile painted across his face. Behind him was Lillie, who was looking very nice, herself. Enzo noticed that it was me in there, so he started making those weird sounds that he does and slid in, holding Lillie's hand.
"Hey, buddy," he said and gave me a proper handshake. I greeted him with a small smile and nod. "How's things going with you, pal?"
"Fine," I mumbled out, holding back. Lillie had her back to me, clearly ignoring me. So, I poked her arm and asked, "Hey, Lill, how are you?"
"I'm doing just fine," she stated, still not looking at me. She kept her focus straight ahead while Enzo had his arms wrapped around her waist from her back.
"So...," Enzo squeaked out, clearly wanting to get out of this. "What team are you wanting to win this year?"
"Hey, so, have you talk to Ellie at all this past week or so?" I suddenly questioned of Lillie, choosing to ignore Enzo. She seemed to tense up, so I poked her arm to pressure her more. "Have you?"
Alas, she spun around and hissed: "Why do you wanna know so bad for?!"
"Because she's my friend and—"
"You know good and damn well that she's not your friend, Rollins," she countered, a taste of venom in her tone. "She's supposed to be my best friend!"
"Well, what's going on with her? She's always with Baron," I pointed out, trying my best to start a normal conversation with her now.
She nodded and added, "That's why. She's always with him. Always up his ass..."
"And why's that?" I pressed for more, meeting her eyes right in the middle of the heat.
She opened her mouth to reply before the elevator stopped, the ding happened, and the doors opened. She walked out first, with Enzo hot on her trail, while I stumbled out behind them. We were all on the same floor, thank goodness.
Right after we were all out, I remained behind them and kept pressing her for every piece of information that I could about Ellie. Lillie kept telling me time and time again that she hadn't talked to Ellie because she was, in Lillie's exact words, 'She's stuck up his ass!'
Somehow, I ended up coming into their hotel room and kept the conversation rolling. Enzo seemed to be getting annoyed because I was 1) talking to his girlfriend on an intense level and 2) he wasn't really involved in our conversation. He only knew as much as Lillie has told him, most likely.
Lillie got to the part of her confessions when she said, "He's practically has her convinced that she's his everything and all that."
I nearly choked on the air, blinking my eyes frantically. "Really?"
She shrugged and mumbled, "Well... Without so many words, that is." I squished my eyes together in question and she noticed. "Well, look... He's treating her like a princess with all the respect and all that, but... He's married, Seth. It's wrong. Simple as that."
I nodded and sighed, "I agree with you there."
"I miss her," she confessed just as Enzo laid down behind her in their bed, wrapping an arm around her.
I laid my head back and admitted, myself: "Me, too."
Lillie seemed taken back by this, gaping her mouth in shock, but decided not to say anything at the last minute. She didn't have to ask me to know how I truly felt about Ellie.
I was truly stupid. Why was that? Well, for one, I cared about the girl I purposely pushed away that I want again.
