The door is ajar. Outside, Carma is looking through it, smoking, very impatient. Burny looks at his mother, pleading -- please stay with me.

Carma walks away. Burny blinks out his pain and frustration like he did a thousand times before.

Then he sees Nona enter the room, chewing gum, and a look of nervous concern in her eyes. Their stares lock for a moment. Then, Nona holds Burny's hand, winks -- just hang on, everything is gonna be all right.

EXT. SOCKER RESIDENCE — DAY

Mr. Troy Socker, only in his 30's, sits on the porch with a cold beer. Burny is mowing the Sockers' lawn. His face tingles. He begins scratching...

Mrs. Socker comes out waddling toward the boy with a jar of jelly. Burny's face is now turning purple...

MRS. SOCKER:     Guess what, aside from your usual pay I'm giving you a bonus: my famous strawberry jelly with milk and sardines.

Burny runs away screaming.
