How to put out a fire
EXT. CARMA MADDEN'S HOUSE/PORCH — DAY
Burny is sitting alone at the porch step, reading Dr. Skinner's tattered book The Burner's Mind.
He begins to scratch his right hand holding the book.
EXT. MR. BOYARSKY'S HOUSE/PORCH — DAY
Mr. Boyarsky is sitting on his porch swing, a birthday cake on his lap. He shoots Burny using a tiny digital video camera as he farts to the tune of "Happy Birthday."
EXT. CARMA MADDEN'S HOUSE/PORCH
Burny is squinting as he reads on, still scratching his now purplish hand. Too engrossed to notice the imminent burning.
His hand goes aflame from his fingers up to his elbow.
Burny rises, stares at his hand with a puzzled look: the book is still in his hand, unburned. And a horrified screech leaps form his mouth—
EXT. MR. BOYARSKY'S HOUSE/PORCH
Mr. Boyarksky is enthralled like a freak show spectator. He keeps on shooting, not even lifting a finger to help Burny.
EXT. CARMA MADDEN'S HOUSE/PORCH
Burny plummets hard on the porch floor, twisting and slamming his burning hand from side to side; fear and tension only seem to enkindle the flame. It is now creeping up his arm. Burny bellows in agony.
In seconds, Carma bursts through the door, fire extinguisher in her hands. Without saying a word, she hoses Burny -- first squirting foaming chemical on his head, body, and legs before finding her mark and extinguishing the crawling combustion.
Then she walks back into the house, her face expressionless.
