BURNY:     (without turning)   Ha?

NONA:     (running towards Burny)   Think of fuckin' Africa! Your back's burning.

Burny twists his neck to get a glimpse of the fire on his back. He gasps in sudden dread, shaking, not knowing what to do for a moment.

Nona tries to put out the flame by swatting it with Burny's clothes. No effect. Burny shuts his eyes, wills himself to relax, and mutters...

BURNY:     Africa! I'm in Africa...

The fire self-extinguishes. Burny opens his eyes; he locks stares with Nona for a long time...

INT. HOSPITAL/BURN CENTER — DAY

Nona is watching as a NURSE attends to Burny's wound. It is only an erythematous superficial burn, inflamed with no blisters but only slight edema (like ordinary sunburn).

NURSE:     It is only a superficial burn. No infection. Your injured skin will just peel off in two or three days without leaving any scars. You'll be okay.

INT. CARMA MADDEN'S HOUSE/BURNY'S BATHROOM - DAY

Burny is checking his burn in the mirror; he sees Nona's reflection. She tries to touch Burny, but he takes a roll of toilet paper and throws it at her...

BURNY:     Get away from me! You make me worse!

NONA:     Burny, you're definitely freakin' me out now!
