Ch. 7 Don't let her escape!

Zuko turns and enters the ship with Kairi in his arms. He walks, and his soldiers bow when he walks by, and they raise an eyebrow when they see their Prince carrying an unknown girl.

" Who is she?" The first soldier asked.

" Where did she come from?" The second soldier asked.

The two soldiers looked at each other with curious expressions. They looked back and saw that Zuko and Kairi were gone.

Zuko walks towards a metal door, opens it, and enters his room. He walks towards the bed and carefully lays Kairi on it. He has decided to let Kairi sleep in his room for the night. He turns and leaves the room, closing the door behind him.

Zuko walks across the hall to a metal door. He opens it and steps inside. He takes off his royal uniform and shoes. He left his pants on since he was going to sleep in Iroh's room. He cracks his back and yawns, getting tired. He walks towards the bed since his Uncle is resting near the wall. He sits on the bed and lays down, looking at the ceiling with mixed emotions.

' Just wait, Avatar. You will be mine,' Zuko internally speaks. He closes his golden eyes and falls asleep.

Appa was flying through the South Pole with Aang, Sokka, and Katara on his back, and they were looking at their surroundings.

" Kairi!" Sokka screams, looking at his surroundings worryingly.

" Kairi! Where are you?" Aang shouts.

" Kairi! Stop being dramatic and show yourself so we can go home!" Katara shouts.

Sokka and Aang turned their gaze to Katara.

" Why are you even here with us? Aang and I care about Kairi's well-being. I can see that you don't," Sokka speaks.

' Even though Kairi and Katara look slightly identical, Katara has an awful personality,' Aang internally speaks.

" Gran Gran wanted me to help you find her," Katara responded. " I don't know why she is making a big deal out of all of this," She annoyingly rolled her blue eyes.

" You did blame your sister for what happened to your mother," Aang remembered.

" She was there with Mom when she died!" Katara glares.

" Katara! We were ten, and you were eight! That man would have killed us no matter what. The only reason he didn't is that Mom sacrificed her life for us to live," Sokka glares.

Katara didn't respond, deciding to stay quiet.

Sokka looks away and looks at his surroundings, calling out Kairi's name. His eyebrows furrowed, feeling determined to find his twin.

" I don't care if we take all night to search for Kairi. As her older brother and twin, I need to find her. Dad will never forgive me if something were to happen to her," Sokka firmly speaks.

Aang turns his gaze to Sokka and nods. He also wants to find Kairi since he promised Sora he would take good care of his Great-Grandchildren.

Several hours later, it is the morning, and Kairi wakes up from her slumber. She opens her blue-grey eyes and blinks when she sees an unfamiliar ceiling.

" Where am I?" Kairi whispered. She sat and looked at her surroundings and saw that she was inside a metal room, and the lights made the room look red.

Kairi felt her right leg getting uncomfortable. She lays down, and her blue-grey eyes blinked when she saw a strange symbol upside down. She breathed and used the air within her body to give her the strength to move her right leg. She gets out of bed and turns to see that the symbol is that of a fire.

" No," Kairi whispered. She looked at her surroundings and saw two-bladed swords in a crisscross formation to her left.

Kairi turned around and saw a red dragon shrine with candles on the table. Looking scared, she panics when she realizes the Fire Nation has taken her hostage.

" I need to get out of here!" Kairi turns and runs towards the door. She opens it and pokes her head, seeing no one in the red-light hallway.

" Where do I even go?" Kairi whispered. " I don't even know which way will take me out of this place," She murmured.

Kairi heard voices coming to her left and decided it would be best to run to the right so she wouldn't get caught. She leaves the room, runs to the right, and enters a different hallway.

Kairi bites her lips, getting anxious since she doesn't know where she is going. She heard footsteps behind her and turned to see two Fire Nation soldiers.

There was an awkward silence between the trio since they didn't expect to see each other.

" Hey!" The first soldier shouts, causing Kairi to freak out.

" Get away from me!" Kairi shouted and pushed her arms forward, causing a gust of wind to hit the two Fire Nation soldiers, and they got slammed against the wall, awakening and alerting everyone on the ship, including Zuko.

Zuko woke up and opened his golden eyes when he heard shouting and something getting slammed.

" What time is it?" Iroh asked while yawning.

" It's the girl," Zuko murmured when the realization hit him. " The men better not have hurt her!" He gets out of bed, grabs a nearby red robe, and puts it on.

" A girl?" Iroh rubbed his eyes and watched Zuko leave the room. " And when did you get in here?" He asked.

Iroh gets out of bed, gets dressed, and leaves the room. " Prince Zuko! What is going on?" He asked.

Zuko walks through different hallways and briefly stops walking when he sees one of his soldiers getting slammed against the wall. He heard footsteps running and looked to see the girl from last night running in his direction.

" Hey!" Zuko shouts, causing Kairi to look at him.

Kairi's blue-grey eyes intently stared at Zuko's gold eyes.

Kairi decided to speed-run around Zuko in a circular motion, using air, causing Zuko to lift his head and stare at her with mixed emotions. She runs past and lands behind him, causing Zuko to turn and watch her leave.

" Did she just air bend?" Zuko asked.

Kairi looks forward and sees Iroh approaching her. She noticed he looked much older than the rest, and seeing him reminded her of Kanna.

" Oh, Hello," Iroh's golden eyes blinked, looking surprised to see Kairi.

Kairi got raised to respect her elders, so she greets him with a quick nod.

" Where is the exit? I'm lost," Kairi explains.

" The exit is over there," Iroh points to the metal door behind them.

" Thank you, Grandpa!" Kairi runs past him.

Iroh's golden eyes blinked, and he smiled when Kairi called him Grandpa.

" Don't let her escape! She's the Avatar I have been searching for!" Zuko shouts, grabbing Iroh's attention.

Iroh watched Zuko run past him and chase after Kairi.

Kairi runs to the metal door, grabs the door handle, and opens it. However, her whole body shivered when she sensed heat coming from behind her. She turned her head and saw fire heading in her direction. Her blue-grey eyes widened as memories from when she was ten resurfaced.

" Ahh!" Kairi frantically screams, covering her face with her arms.

Iroh saw the fire was about to burn Kairi. He runs and stands between the flames and the young female. He reflects the fire with his fire, creating an explosion, causing him and Kairi to stumble backward and fall onto the dock.

Zuko looked surprised that Iroh protected Kairi.

Iroh falls on Kairi, causing her to whimper since the older male fell on her right side, where her right leg got injured six years ago.

Zuko steps out and looks at Iroh and Kairi with mixed emotions.

Iroh opened his golden eyes and blinked, seeing Zuko and his soldiers standing before him. He turned his head and saw Kairi with her eyes closed, looking scared.
