On their way to the Southern Water Tribe, the group stopped walking when they heard a loud yawn from the iceberg behind them. Aang's grey eyes widened, and he gasped when he realized he left his flying bison, Appa, alone.

" Appa!" Aang shouts. He turns towards the iceberg, using the air to make him run faster.

" Appa?" Sokka raised an eyebrow while Kairi and Katara watched Aang run in awe.

The three siblings ran and followed Aang to the iceberg. They saw Aang use air to jump on the ice and look down at Appa.

' He's so cool,' Kairi internally speaks. ' I want to do that!' She smiled and breathed.

Kairi used the air to make her run faster and then used the strength of her legs to jump. However, she used so much power that she flew past Aang and landed on Appa's furry body.

" Kairi! Are you okay?" Aang shouts, looking at Kairi worryingly. He jumps and gracefully lands beside his new friend.

" I'm okay," Kairi's voice got muffled with Appa's fur.

Sokka and Katara watched the whole thing with a surprised expressions. They didn't expect Kairi to jump so high and far.

Appa smelt Aang and roared, looking happy to see the young air bender.

" Hey, Appa! I have some good news and some bad news. What do you want to hear first?" Aang asked.

Kairi gets up and stands next to Aang. Her blue-grey eyes widened when she realized she was standing on Appa's furry stomach.

Appa roared, surprising Kairi, causing her left hand to grasp Aang's right arm sleeve tightly, thinking the flying bison was mad at her for being on top of him.

" Bad news. Okay. I recently learned it'd been a hundred years since we woke up. And my best friend, Sora, passed away forty-two years ago. And we lost so many air benders," Aang frowned.

Appa grabs Aang with its upper hands, surprising Kairi, and she sees the flying bison hug the young air bender, wanting to comfort him.

" Good news is that I'm not the only air bender anymore," Aang smiled, and Appa lets go of him. " Appa! Meet Kairi," He used air to push him back to stand next to Kairi. " She's an air bender like me. But, she can also water bend. And she's Sora's Great Granddaughter, "He babbled.

Kairi looked at Appa and awkwardly waved since it was her first time seeing a flying bison in person.

Appa grabbed Kairi with its upper hands, surprising her, and the flying bison began to lick her face with his massive tongue.

" Aw! Appa likes you," Aang smiled.

" Good to know," Kairi awkwardly smiled, and she shivered since Appa's saliva made her whole face cold because of the everlasting winter air.

Sokka and Katara climbed the ice and looked, seeing Appa holding Kairi with its upper hands, surprising the two.

" Kairi!" Sokka screeches, grabbing Kairi, Aang, and Appa's attention.

Sokka stands and wobbles. He grabs his wooden club and points his weapon at Appa.

" Let go of my sister, you-you big beast!" Sokka shouts.

" Hey, Sokka! Appa is nice. He won't hurt Kairi," Aang reassured.

Appa puts Kairi down and roars at Sokka.

Sokka loses balance, and he falls forward, causing Kairi and Aang to use air to cushion his fall, and the older teen carefully falls on the flying bison's furry tail.

Sokka warily stared at Appa when he saw the flying bison stare at him.

" Nice flying bison. Please, don't eat me!" Sokka squeaked.

Aang and Kairi walked towards Sokka.

" It's okay, Sokka. Appa is friendly. From how you guys react, it's your first time seeing a flying bison, right?" Aang asked, looking at the three siblings.

" Yeah. Gran Gran told me about flying bison being the spiritual animal of air benders. But I have never seen one this close before. So, it's cool to see that flying bison aren't exactly extinct," Kairi turns and stares at Appa.

Appa roared.

" Just like how you and I are the only air benders. Appa is the last flying bison," Aang frowned, feeling sad that Appa lost all his friends and family a hundred years ago.

" Is Appa able to take us to the Southern Water tribe?" Kairi asked, thinking it was quicker going to the Tribe via Appa than on foot.

Aang looked at Kairi and Appa with thoughtful expression.

" Oh, no! Oh, no! I am not going on that-on that thing!" Sokka stands, falling off Appa's furry tail onto the snowy ground.

Aang winced, and sweat dropped when he saw Sokka fall.

" Is Sokka always-" Aang glanced at Kairi.

"-Dramatic? Yeah. Then again. Dad left him in charge of the Tribe after he and all the men left to fight in the Hundred Year War," Kairi responded. " But don't worry. He has me as his right hand," She reassured. " I always ensure he doesn't get too stressed," She smiled.

Katara watched Aang and Kairi interact; she didn't like feeling left out. She stands on the ice and slips, causing her to fall forward.

" Ah!" Katara screams, grabbing Aang and Kairi's attention. They turned and saw Katara falling.

" Katara!" Kairi was about to air bend, but she watched Aang run and catch Katara in his arms.

" I got you!" Aang catches Katara. " Are you alright?" He asked, looking at her worryingly.

Kairi looked at Katara and Aang curiously.

" I'm okay," Katara blushes. " Thanks for catching me," She smiled at Aang.

" No problem," Aang blushes since he finds Katara and Kairi pretty.

" Can someone help me get up?" Sokka shouts since his upper body is in the snow while his legs are kicking everywhere to find a way to get out.

" Sokka! Don't worry. I'll get you," Kairi jumps off of Appa and lands beside Sokka. She grabbed him by the waist and used her strength to pull him out of the snow.

Aang jumps off of Appa with Katara in his arms, causing her to cling to him so she wouldn't fall. He lands beside Kairi and Sokka and smiles at them.

" So, what do you guys say? Want Appa to take us to the Southern Water Tribe?" Aang asked while putting Katara down.

" Yeah! It's faster for Appa to take us to the Tribe," Kairi smiled.

" I don't know," Sokka warily stared at Appa. " That beast has been asleep for a hundred years. Are you sure it knows how to fly again?" He asked.

Appa roared, and he got up, surprising the siblings.

" You got this, Appa!" Aang jumps and lands on Appa's head. " Come on, you guys," He turned to the siblings and motioned them to get on the flying bison.

Kairi smiled, getting excited. She jumps, and Aang grabs Kairi's hand to guide her to sit beside him.

" Thanks!" Kairi smiled.

" Let's go, Sokka!" Katara runs towards Appa and climbs from the tail since she doesn't want Kairi alone with Aang.

" Ugh! I'm coming. I'm coming," Sokka dramatically whines and follows Katara.

Aang and Kairi watched Katara and Sokka sit behind them. Kairi raised an eyebrow when she saw Katara hug Aang from behind, which surprised him.

" Katara! Next time ask him," Kairi firmly speaks.

Katara glares at Kairi.

" It's okay. It's okay. Katara must be scared," Aang reassured.

" Yes. I'm scared," Katara lays her head on Aang's back.

Kairi turns to Sokka, who shrugs since he finds Katara's recent behavior abnormal.

" Let's get going. Alright, Appa! To the Southern Water Tribe. Yip! Yip!" Aang grabs the reins that connect to Appa's horns and felt Appa start running.

" Hold on tight!" Aang shouts.

Katara hugs Aang tightly while Sokka clings to Kairi.

Appa jumps and starts to fly, causing Kairi to look at her surroundings in awe.

" So cool!" Kairi shouts, feeling the air make her ponytail dance.

Sokka's blue eyes widened, watching the ground get smaller and smaller. His face begins to turn green, feeling sick. His arms tightened around Kairi's waist since he was scared that he would fall.

" Giant light beams, flying bison, air benders," Sokka muttered. " Rest and food sound good right about now," He sighed.

However, Sokka's blue eyes widened when he realized they had lost weeks of fish because of Katara's outburst.

" Ahh!" Sokka screams, startling everyone.

" What! What!" Aang shouts, looking at Sokka worryingly.

" Gran Gran is going to kill me," Sokka groans.

" Why would your Gran Gran kill you?" Aang raised his eyebrow.

Kairi looked at Sokka, and her blue-grey eyes widened when she realized why her brother was reacting like that.

" The fish!" Kairi shouts.

" Fish?" Aang looks at Kairi with a confused expression.

" I might as well get the fish myself," Kairi removes Sokka's arms from her waist, causing her brother to look at her.

" What are you planning to do?" Sokka asked.

" Um. Jump off of Appa and go into the ocean and use water bending to bring all the fishes to me, shoot myself out of the water, and then use air bending to fly to Appa?" Kairi responded.

" You'd die!" Sokka shouts.

" If Kairi wants to get the fish, let her do it, Sokka," Katara looks at her siblings.

" I'll help! Sounds fun. I can keep the fish in an air ball," Aang smiled, removing Katara's arms from his waist.

" Sweet! Let's do this," Kairi and Aang stood, and they jumped off of Appa.

" Aang!" Katara shouts.

" Kairi!" Sokka screams.

Kairi and Aang fall towards the ocean, feeling one with the air. They looked at each other and smiled.

Aang tried his best not to cry because he thought he saw Sora instead of Kairi for a second since he began to notice how similar the two looked.

" Come on, Aang! I'm hungry! Let's get those fishes!" Sora shouts while falling from Appa to the ocean.

" I can get more fish than you!" Aang shouts while looking at laughs.

" Oh! We are making this a game, huh? Then you are on! Loser cooks the fish," Sora smirks.

" You are on!" Aang nodded.

" Aang!" Kairi shouts, grabbing Aang's attention. " Let's make this into a game?" She asked.

" Sure!" Aang's grey sparkled, looking at Kairi with excitement. " Loser cooks the fish," He smirks.

" Deal!" Kairi nodded.

Aang and Kairi dived into the water.

Kairi started to swim, and her blue-grey eyes blinked when she saw Aang twirling and noticed that he was using air from the ocean's pressure to create a bubble on his head so that he could breathe normally.

' So cool!' Kairi internally shouts.

Kairi sensed movement heading in their direction. She turned and saw fish swimming.

Kairi used her arms forward and back to create a wave and watched the fish swim faster in her direction. She then twirls her hands in a circular motion, capturing all the fish in a water bubble. She turned and saw Aang use air from the ocean's pressure to push the fish out of the water.

Aang jumps out of the air and twirls, using the air to create a massive air ball and suck all the fish inside.

" Appa!" Aang shouts.

Appa roars and flies toward Aang.

" Ahh!" Katara and Sokka scream as their hands tightly grasp Appa's fur so they wouldn't fall.

Kairi jumps out of the ocean with the water ball. She gets on Appa and pokes her tongue out at Aang.

Aang playfully rolls his grey eyes and gets on Appa.

Sokka and Katara looked at Kairi and Aang with mixed emotions.

" We're back," Kairi and Aang spoke.

" We can-We can see that," Sokka stuttered, looking in disbelief at the air ball and water bubble.

" Let's get going! Not sure how long I can hold this water bubble for," Kairi looked at the water bubble with concentration.

" Head to the Southern Water Tribe, Appa. Yip! Yip!" Aang shouts, and Appa roars as he makes a circle and flies to the Southern Water Tribe.
