Chapter 1: Wake Up

It was pure darkness. Everywhere as far as the eye could see, there was nothing. Only darkness.

???'s POV

Even though it was pitch dark, the sound of a pair of heels clinking with each step could be heard. The woman from before was trying to walk through the darkness blindingly, not sure where she was going or where she even was. All she knew was that the temperature was low, as her body shivers a bit as she could see her breath whenever she breathed.

Her red eyes glance around everywhere, hoping she would be able to find something, though hasn't had any luck. She had no idea how long she's been walking, but it was long enough for her to start becoming annoyed and frustrated.

"What the hell is going on...?" She mutters to herself while continuing to look around. As she did, her voices echos across the void, making her a little unsettled.

"Raven..." A familiar voice mutters from behind her, their voice echoing as well.

"?!" Startled, the woman, Raven, spun around and goes to grab her sheathed sword, but stops as she felt her weapon missing. She looks down to see that it was gone, making her confused.
"What-?!"

"Mom..." The voice spoke again, causing Raven to refocus on the voice and look up to where the source was coming from.

Several feet in front of her was light shining down onto what looked to be a blonde young woman on all four, her back facing Raven. The girl's right arm seems to be cut off, missing her hand as her arm was bleeding. Due to her arm bleeding, the girl was in a puddle of her own blood.

"Yang...?" Raven whispers as she looks puzzled by what she was seeing. Just as she tried to walk towards the young woman, Yang, she walks into some kind of invisible wall that prevented her from walking forward. She tried to punch the invisible wall, but it was no use. She then tried to walk to the side to avoid the wall, but the wall just went on and on, making her frustrated.

"Mom..." Yang mutters again, catching Raven's attention as her eyes shift to the teen.

Walking out of the shadows was a tall man, who had an ominous grin on his lips. He had a lean built and auburn hair that spikes backward in a windswept way. While most of his hair was red, he had streaks of brown. A noticeable trait of his appearance was the mask he wore, which obscured his entire upper face above his nose. The mask was whitish-tan with red, Japanese style, horn-like symbols decorating the front and two slits on each side presumably to allow for vision.

It looked like he had two reddish-black horns, one on each side of his head, also seemingly slanted back. He wore an asymmetrical black, long-sleeved, double-breasted stylized high-collared blazer with slit sleeves along with red thorn sigils adorned with a white crest that lined up on his left shoulder. His suit jacket had crimson lining atop of a red shirt, with red thorn sigils atop a black flap attached to the bottom of the left hem and his wilting rose on the back over an emblazoned white sigil resembling the curved stems and flower of the deadly nightshade plant. His blazer was half-buttoned, exposing his red shirt with a black line running parallel to his collar under it. He wore long black dress pants, black shoes with red soles, and black gloves with red sigils resembling the Greek letter Ω (Omega), the last letter in the Greek alphabet. Lastly, he wore a black belt with white domino marks on it. His color palette generally consists of black and red.

In his hand was a sheathed bladed, though he grips tightly onto the sheath.

Raven's eyes widen in horror upon recognizing who the man was. "N-no..." She mutters weakly.

The man doesn't seem to notice her as he was looking down at the young woman in front of him. He stops walking when he was towering over her and slowly draws his crimson red katana from its sheath and points the tip of his blade at her head. The young woman doesn't seem to try to bother moving, making Raven's heart sink as she tried to punch the invisible wall again.

"Stop it! Leave her alone!" Raven shouts, her words echos across the empty void. Her eyes began watering up as she starts to hyperventilate.

Unfortunately, her cries fell onto deaf ears as the man doesn't pay attention to her, just to the girl. He raises his blade into the air as his grin widens before swinging it down, causing Raven to scream in anguish as she saw blood spew into the air.

No one's POV

Raven's eyes open as she lets out a quiet gasp and sits up quickly. She pants heavily while sweating, her body shaking due to being startled by what she dreamt. "Y-Yang..." She mutters somberly to herself, before slowly looking down at her hands, though was surprised by what she saw.

Instead of being in the clothes she usually wore, she found herself wrapped up in bandages around most of her body; mainly her hands, arms, stomach, chest, legs and thighs, ankles, and feet. Some of the bandages had dried blood on them as the others had none, to her confusion. But her face heats up a little when she realizes that besides the bandages, she was only wearing a white bra and panties, making her instinctively move herself to hide her private parts. Upon trying to cover herself though, a rush of pain and soreness hits her throughout her body, causing her to scrunch her face in pain and hisses.

"O-ow! Fuck!" She whispers.

It took her a few minutes before she got over some of the pain to where she relaxes her face and looks around to see where she was now. She noticed that she was laying on a futon in the middle of a room. The room was a bit large, having a table full of medical supplies behind her. The room itself had a very Japanese feeling to it, which surprised her a bit. The only light sources available were a few lit candles littered around the room.

However, she stops and looks to her side as she heard the sound of a door sliding to her left. She was about to stand up and prepare to attack whoever that was, but saw that who opened the door was a young girl in her mid-teens, making her even more confused.

The teen had long, tied, white hair that went down her back. She had a scar going down her cheek and on her left eyebrow. She wore a long black robe with white pedals designed on it. What shocked Raven the most was that she had silver eyes.

The teen looks up in surprise as she saw that Raven was awake. "Oh! You're finally awake, miss!" She says, shock clear in her voice.

On the other hand, Raven wasn't so thrilled with seeing this new girl and seeing she was in an unfamiliar place. "Where am I? Who are you? Why am I here?" She demands sternly, trying to get up but grunts from the pain she felt again.

"O-oh, please don't move, ma'am." The teen says cautiously and worryingly as she tries to approach her. "You'll open your wounds if you move too much."

Raven growls as she saw the teen try to touch her, causing her to instinctively swap her hand away. "Did you not hear me? And where are my clothes?"

"Your clothes?" The teen asks as she steps back due to Raven's actions and puts her hands up to show that she wasn't going to harm her. "They're being repaired right now. When my father found you, your clothes were way too torn to continue wearing. So he ordered for it to be fixed as you were unconscious."

"What?" Raven asks sternly, glaring at the teen. "What do you mean I was-?" She grunts as she felt her head spin, causing her to clench her head.

As this happened, images of what happened before she fell unconscious flood her mind. She remembers all the Grimm that was about to finish her off and that someone attacked the creatures before she was knocked out.

The images soon disappear as Raven continues to hold her head. After a minute or so, the pain did as well. When it was gone, slowly, she lets go of her head and hesitantly looks up at the teen, who looks a bit confused.

"Y-you said your father...saved me, from the Grimm...?" She asks, though was hesitant with saying "saved".

The girl nods. "Y-yes. One of our scouts heard the commotion of your battle while on patrol and went to go see what it was. But after seeing how many creatures there were, he went to go get my father, who rushed over to help." She explains.

"..." Raven doesn't respond. Her expression softens a little as she looks down, trying to process everything. However, something in her mind came up that made her quickly looking up at the girl. "What did he do after he found me?"

"He noticed how injured you were and brought you back home as quickly as possible to get you medical help."

"And I can trust you because...?" She trails off, giving her a doubtful look.

"The Shirai Ryu are not savages or muggers, ma'am. We're a clan who helps those in need."

"The what?" Raven asks, caught off guard by the name.

"It's a long story. But basically, we're a clan who isolates ourselves from the rest of Remnant." Raven moves her mouth to say something, but the girl cuts her off before she could say anything. "If you truly believe that we wanted you dead, then my father wouldn't have saved you and instead waited for the Grimm to have their share of you before going to loot you. And if you think that we'd want to hold you for ransom or whatever, then we would have left you in a cellar than here."

"..." Raven doesn't respond again. She slowly stares down at her hands and studies the bandages on her body for a moment. After, she slowly looks at the girl. "And then what happened?" She asks while she covers herself. "Did he-?"

"N-no, of course not. He had me and a few other women take care of you."

"I see..." She mutters as a faint blush grew on her face. "Then...can I have some actual clothes to wear?"

The girl nods. "Of course. Just stay here and I'll be-."

She was cut off when the two heard a bark from where the teen came from. Both startled and confused, they turn in the direction and saw a small young boy peeking into the room at the sliding door.

The boy looked to be no older than nine years old. He had pitch-black hair and black eyes. He wore a brown robe and in his arms was a smaller white puppy, who barks happily and pants.

"Daisuke!" The teen girl shouts at the child, who flinches when she yelled. "Father and I told you you're not allowed in here!" She continued as she got up and walks over to him.

The child looks up at the girl as she stood in front of him and grabs him by his shoulders. Then, she flips him around and pushes him out, closing the door behind her, leaving Raven all alone.

"..." Raven looks even more confused after she was left alone. But, she lowers her head and closes her eyes, shaking her head. "What is happening...?" She mutters to herself before sighing heavily.

Suddenly, the dream she had flashed in her mind, causing her to slowly reopen her eyes with a saddened look. "Yang..." She whispers solemnly. Feeling her heart ache, she places her hand where her heart was and clenches her hand into a fist. "I-I'm sorry..."
