New species
A new species I've been brainstorming for the last few days. They're small lizard-like creatures found on leaves. When a tree buds, the bud serves as the egg. The creatures live on their born leaf and protect the leaf with their life, as seeing that the leaf is their life source. They grow with and relative to the leaf. Their eyes are very large, but their hearing is decent, at best. They have sticky pads on their feet and very flexible tails. They have small, rounded teeth except for pairs of very long, sharp canines which are used for defense. They also possess retractable claws. For deciduous trees, these poor babies have rather short lifespans--as soon as the leaf begins to change, they start to die, their colors changing along with the leaf. For more tropical trees, their lifespan can be long or short--their lives are only as the leaf's. Markings, appearances, size, and characteristics vary from region to region.
Concept sketches!
I'm thinking of making these an open species due to there being so many trees and multitudes of leaves. So go ahead and make one--or a whole tree's worth! I don't particularly care.
