Chapter 44

Cara's POV

After finishing our meals, we began making our way back to the flat. Lana got told she had a few more things to take care of during our rather silent meal, things I don't feel like being with her while she does. Once I questioned her what we were, I knew I would regret it. That I wouldn't hear her say what I wanted her to, but I still had the slightest hope that she would. It was stupid of me to have.

We are we, and we are seeing where it leads

I repeat that in my mind for the 6th time, still trying to make sense of it. Still trying to decide what emotion to settle on. When she said that, I felt like I should be offended, hurt, angry with her, because I was. But the way she had said it seemed like she didn't mean for me to take it that way. But the fact that she didn't bother putting a label on us says exactly what I feared, that alone frightens me.

I look up ahead and see that we are coming up to the flat. I begin to remove my seatbelt, already ready to get out of the car. During our time apart all I wanted was to be with her, even now a part of me still wants to be, but I just can't.

"Are you sure you don't want to come along?" Lana asks as she pulls up in front of the flat. I look over at her.

"Yeah." her lips make a tight line, and her face wears a look of disappointment, but I ignore it. She removes her flat key from the rest of her keys hands it over to me. I get out of the car and shut the door, making my way over to the front door. I open it and make my way inside, not bothering to look back at the car. I shut the door and begin walking towards Lana's room when I turn and see that Chuck is sitting there on the couch, a dark haired girl there beside her.

"Cara." Chucks turns to me, settling her laughter. She get's up off the couch and begins to walk over to me.

"Hey."

"I didn't think you'd be back this early." she gives me a light hug, looking at me directly in the face when she pulls away. She places her hand around my lower back and begins to lead me towards the girl on the couch who I assume is a friend of hers.

When we reach the couch and I can now see that the girl is around my age, maybe even early twenties. She has jet black hair and light brown skin that compliments her hazel eyes nicely, as well as ridiculously long eye lashes that seem naturally curled. Her pink lips are pulled up in a polite smile and I find myself taken aback by how beautiful she is.

"Cara, this is Michelle." Chuck introduces. "Michelle, this is my friend Cara."

She takes her hand out for me to take and I do, giving it a light shake.

"Nice to meet you." she greets, flashing a perfect smile.

"Pleasure."

"Oh you're British." she giggles.

"Guilty." her eyes brighten as she smiles and I find myself smiling as well.

"Hey where's Lana? I thought she was with you?" Chuck asks, making her way around me and over to the coffee table, picking up two empty glass china cups.

"Oh she had some more errands to take care of." I inform her. "I didn't feel like joining."

"Oh." she looks down briefly before looking back up at me. "Well we were just going to head out for a hike, you want to join?"

For the first time since entering I notice both of their attire. They are both wearing clothes one would wear while exercising, except unlike Chuck, Michelle is not barefoot. I consider this for a while, not really knowing if I should. Oh whatever, why not? I have nothing else to do, and I'm not sure I want to be here when Lana arrives.

"Sure. Why not?"

"Great! Well we'll leave when you finish getting ready." Chuck smiles. "So hurry the fuck up."

I roll my eyes playfully. Chuck exists the room with a cup in each hand towards the kitchen and I look over at Michelle briefly, returning a smile after she offers one.

"Take your time." she tells me. "We aren't in any rush.

"Alright." I smile again and begin walking away towards Lana's room to change into more suitable clothes.

Once I reach the room, I am just passing through the door when a figure pops out of nowhere, yelling. Instantly, I let out a scream, hitting my back against the door frame and falling onto the floor.

"Hey." the figure that I can now make out as a young girl says. "You aren't Lizzy."

Chuck and Michelle run in then, looking around in a panic. Once Chuck has realized what has happened, she bursts into laughter. Michelle on the other hand, does the opposite.

"Mila!" she scolds the young girl, me still trying to catch my breath.

"What?" the young girl defends. "I thought she was Lizzy!"

Michelle stays silent in that moment, looking over at me before looking away and back towards the girl, trying to contain her laughter. Chuck on the other hand, is in hysterics and is not even putting the slightest effort into hiding her amusement. I rewind what just happened in my head then and remember the panic that went through me, beginning to laugh thinking how ridiculous I must have looked and how I felt.

"Did you record it?" Chuck asks, looking over at the young girl.

"Yes." she cracks a smile. She moves from where she is standing and gets a phone from on top of Lana's bed that is in a perfect angle facing the door. She walks back over to Chuck and hands it over to her. I get up from my place then and over to where Chuck is to watch the video.

At first you only see the open door, the phone shaking I assume from her adjusting it, but after a few seconds she comes into view, hiding beside the door just a few moments before I walk in. Once I do, she jumps out, scaring me so much I am thankful I did not have to use to restroom. It shows how ridiculous I fell and the hilarious look on my face, as well as the moment when the young girl realized I was not in fact Lana and when Chuck and Michelle ran in. I laugh when watching the video along with everyone else, though no one laughs harder than Chuck.

"Oh my god." she wipes a tear. "Send me that Mila." the young girl smiles, taking her phone after Chuck watches me being scared one last time. She laughs while leaving the room and looks at me before she exits, again, laughing.

"Alright, c'mon Mila she has to change."

"Why in Lizzy's room?" Mila asks Michelle, turning to me in confusion.

"C'mon let's go to the living room." Michelle ignores her question, gesturing for her to follow.

"Fine." she sighs. She begins to walk towards her when she stops, turning around and walking toward me.

"I'm sorry I scared you-" I hear Chuck laugh a ridiculous laugh from the living room and huff a laugh, Mila cracking a smile. "I thought it was Lizzy- so.. I'm sorry."

She surprises me by hugging me, and I am barely able to hug her back before she pulls away. She gives me a sympathetic smile and I realize for the first time just how much she resembles Michelle. They both have the same jet black hair, light brown skin and even the hazel eyes. The only thing setting them apart being the slight difference in their facial features. She let's her smile fall and walks from me and past Michelle, exiting the room

"I'm sorry, again." Michelle apologizes. "My sister can be a bit.. " and there you have it. They are sisters. I let out a light laugh and wave my hand at her.

"Don't worry about it." she smiles and begins walking out of the room.

"Well. See you in a bit." she accidentally hits herself against the drawer while walking out and I let out a laugh. "That w- yeah. Okay." she blushes. I smile and watch her as she shuts the door, walking over to my luggage to finally change.
