Chapter 31
Cara's POV
After managing to leave the hotel room, Lana fulfilled her promise to show me around Los Angeles. We started off simple, walking down sunset boulevard. Once in a while Lana would point things out, telling me little facts about them. When she would do this I would find myself looking more at her than the things she was talking to me about. Occasionally a fan would come up to us, whether it would be for an autograph, picture, hug, chat, all of the above. I didn't really mind because they are her fans, it is logical for her to stop for them. She is just being loving towards them, who am I to say otherwise or get mad because of it?
"Can you take our picture?" a lightly tan skinned girl asks.
"Yeah sure." I oblige. I take her phone from her hands and back up a few steps, making sure her and her group of friends are all seen on the screen.
"1, 2, 3." I snap the picture. I walk over to the girl and hand over her phone. "Perfect"
"Thank you so much." she says, taking the phone from my hands and looking at the picture. I nod and smile polietly, looking over at Lana aftewards. I catch her eye and she raises her eyebrows. 'Lets go' she mouths, gesturing her head. I only shrug, but she removes her hands from the teenage girls' shoulders and makes her way toward me.
"I have to go," she starts. The girls complain, but begin saying their goodbyes to her. Each and every one takes their turn hugging her goodbye and I smile as we start walking away.
"I'm sorry," she laughs. "We've must have stopped 30 times since this tour began."
"50 actually, but who's counting?"
She pouts adorably. "I'm the worst tour guide ever."
A laugh comes out from my mouth and I wrap my arms around her, hugging her tightly. I plant a kiss on her cheek and pull away, smiling longingly at her after I do. I see her smiling and I remove my arms from around her body, but bring my left hand down and intertwine our fingers. She gives my hand a squeeze and I get a warm feeling.
"Do you want some coffee?" she asks as we turn a corner. I turn my head towards her and nod.
"Sure."
We walk further down the sidewalk and stop once we reach a rather busy quaint little coffee shop. I let Lana order for me as I walk around the cafe, searching for an empty table where we can sit. I end up finding a small round table near the back of the cafe just as a couple is leaving it. It is perfect because it is away from the hecticness going on in the front of the cafe.
I take a seat and reach into the back pocket of my shorts, feeling nothing. Great. Sighing, I reach for a sugar packet in the center of the table as I wait, having nothing else to do since I forgot my phone in the hotel room. I rip open the packet and stick out my tongue, wanting to see how much sugar I can pile onto my tongue before it can't fit anymore. I continue to do this until I am barely able to move my tongue without some sugar falling.
"What are you doing?" Lana laughs, taking a seat next to me. I look at her and try to explain, but that causes some sugar to fall off of my tongue, she laughs again. Giving up, I start to stick my tongue back into my mouth but she stops me.
"Wait wait wait, let me take a picture." she pulls out her phone and points the lens in my direction. I raise my eyebrows a bit and point at my tongue with both of my index fingers, holding still as she takes the picture.
"There." she says. She takes a look at her phone and laughs. She turns the phone screen in my direction and I stick my tongue back into my mouth, chuckling at the picture.
"What were you doing?" she asks.
"Trying to see how much sugar I can pile on my tongue." I answer. She laughs and I take her phone from her hand, getting a good look at the picture.
"Lana?" a woman calls out. "Order for Lana?"
"I'll be right back." Lana tells me, touching my shoulder. I nod and look back down at the picture, smiling at it. Just then, her phone buzzes, signifying she got a message. It buzzes two more times and in an effort to make it stop, I push the top corner button. Shit. What did I do? The screen turns white for a breif moment, but is soon followed by a bunch of letters. I'm in her messages.
"What are you doing?" I hear Lana ask suddenly. I jump a bit, surprised. I look up at Lana as she makes her way around the table, her face wearing suspicion, and maybe even a little anger.
"You got some messages," I answer. "It wouldnt stop buzzing so I tried to make it stop, but I pushed something and it took me to your messages. They're from..."
I look back down at the screen.
"Rose." I look back up at Lana and see her eyes grow wide.
"Here give me that." she sets the coffee cups down on the table and reaches over to get her phone. I quickly hand over the phone and watch her as she looks at her screen, eyebrows furrowed. Her eyes scan the phone screen and fingers move quickly. She finishes what she is doing and shoves her phone back into her pocket, taking a seat once again.
"Who is that?" I ask curious to why this persons messages have managed to upset her so much.
"No one." she mutters. She slides what I assume is my coffee over to me and takes her own coffee in her hands, bringing it up to her lips and taking a sip. "Do you want something for your coffee?" she asks, changing the subject.
I run my finger along the white mug and glance up at her, seeing she is still tense.
This person- whomever she may be, has obviously made her upset, but I do not want to push the subject any further. "No." I say lightly. She takes a sip of her coffee and glaces at me briefly.
"Okay."
