Chapter Seven: I Think I Understand Now
*Trigger warning / Smut Warning*
This era in Luna's life would now be taken back into her own hands. While she loved everyone in Austin, she felt a sense of longing for her friends back in Los Angeles and she was tempted to visit them. A visit would maybe clear her head, it would make her less anxious and more cautious and aware. It would also prove that she belonged in Austin, no matter what anyone else in L. A had to say, so she decided to take some time off, to Visit her friends in California, and she of course didn't tell them she was coming.
The plane ride to L. A was three hours long. Since Luna's car was in the shop she had to fly. She was begining to think that she would have to retire the lovely Prius. She already had to retire her bug, she didn't have the right parts to fix it herself. Nor the time anymore. So she sold it and bought the Prius only now that thing crapped out on her.
Luna was taking a cab from the airport when the cab crashed into the back of the other car. She piles out of the cab, trying to see if she could help anyone. There was a massive fender bender and she sighs beginning to get to work. It was already her first day back in L.A. and she was doing firefighter duties. Not to mention some guy had duct-taped himself to a sign.
"Ma'am, can you tell me what happened?" Hen walked up to the woman with blue hair.
"Grandpa over there decided to go demolition derby on my bumper." She yells as Hen nods.
"Sir, can you please?" Chimney was trying to help the older gentleman but he was being stubborn.
"The light was green! That's when you're supposed to go!"
"I got distracted for a second."
"Are you having trouble with your vision?"
"Well, I think one of my contacts popped out when he hit me." She yells at the older man.
Hen looks at the sprain on the woman's wrist. "Well, it looks like you did a good job taking care of this wrist until we arrived."
The woman winces from the movements Hen was doing to her wrist. "No, it wasnt me the woman with the long hair and green shirt helped me. She told me to keep it elevated until you guys got here."
Hen furrows her brows "Woman what woman." Hen looks around as the blue-haired woman just shrugs,
Luna had finally patched everyone up, her grin shirt was tattered and messy, she reaches into the backseat of the Taxi grabbing her duffle bag out from the back seat as a few firefighters run by. She stops one of them to ask what happened and they explain how some guy taped himself to the billboard, she chuckles shaking her head before pulling her jacket on her arms and the duffle bag on her shoulder.
Deciding she could walk the rest of the way. Only she gets bumped into by one of the firefighters. They ended up dropping their supplies and she helps them quickly.
"Hen?"
"Luna?" she looks down at her shirt. "Green shirt..ahh it was you." Luna furrows her brows. "You helped these people before we got here."
Luna nods laughing a bit. "Ah yes, guilty."
"What brings you back to L.A. did you get homesick and miss us?"
Luna laughs. Truth be told after what happened Owen told her she needed to take a few days off before she came back to work. But she couldnt tell Hen about her mental breakdown in Austin.
"What can I say? You guys are hard to forget." Hen laughs.
"Well, I am sure the others would be very excited to have you here with us. Why dont you come with us?"
Luna shakes her head. "Oh, I dont want to intrude I am just here on Vacation."
"Girl, we both know you dont take Vacations and besides Athena wouldn't let you rest for long. Why didn't she tell me you were here?"
"She doesn't know I was going to surprise her." Luna stands up now along with Hen having gotten all her supplies back in her bag.
"Oh she is going to be so excited...everyone is." Luna nods as they hear the guy on the billboard.
"Did something happen or did L.A. get crazier when I left?"
"Ahh, newbie said the Q word."
Luna winces. "Fuck, maybe you do my help after all. All right give me." she motions for Hen to give her some of the supplies in her hand before she dropped them again and Hen doesn't hesitate.
"Hey look who I found wandering the streets," Hen says as everyone turns to look at Luna.
"Stardust? Is that you?"
Luna laughs nodding "Guilty, I flew in twenty minutes ago I wanted to surprise you. Surprise." of course as Luna says that the guy from the billboard falls off onto the balloon bag down below.
"I'm okay, I'm okay! Yeah!" He stands up cheering wildly.
Hen wraps a blanket around him. " Oh, oh, he's gonna be famous now."
"Download my album, okay?" He yells proudly as Luna laughs.
Athena shakes her head at the man. "I could use a ride if that's okay with you Thena?"
She nods happily. "Oh you know it is."
They hug as they walk to her patrol car, so far everything was good. Eddie was too Busy working to notice Luna and she wasnt ready to work with him.
"So I see you have a small bag with you so that means your not staying for long."
Luna sighs. "Yeah, I wanted to take some vacation days to visit my favorite town."
"Mhmm. " Athena doesn't take her eye off the road, but she could that wasnt all the truth. That Luna wasnt telling her everything. She glanced over at Luna who was pulling her sleeves down over her wrist. She had scars there from what she did, and the worse part was she didn't remember, she hadn't gotten her memory back from that night.
She was still trying to piece everything together. "Hey, I am itching to do something, You think Bobby will let me work with the crew? For a bit."
Athena just smiles she knew that her girl, couldnt possibly come here for a relaxing time. "Bobby does anything I tell him so. You just leave that to me. Where are you staying at?"
Luna shrugs. "Figured I would stay in a hotel, still dont know how long I am staying for." Athena scoffs. "I mean that was my last resort I am staying with you." Athena laughs.
"Mhmm yeah you are."
After only having just arrived Luna was dropped off at the firehouse. She was getting changed in her gear, which she brought from Austin just in case. She walked upstairs from the locker room. Her Black Austin Fire shirt was tucked into her black pants.
"Now, we have a special guest joining us for the shift and frankly we could use all the help we can get." Bobby smiles at Luna who was staring at the table. "Welcome, Firefighter Jennings." Everyone at the table turns to look at Luna who smirks hands on her hips.
"Thanks for having me. 118" she walks over to the table seeing Mac n Cheese there. "Is this the famous Mac n Cheese Athena was walking about?"
"It is," Chimney beams excitedly he was about to cut into the mac n cheese.
"Chim you know the rules." he sighs sadly as Buck and Eddie run up the stairs.
"Sorry, we are here now." Buck takes his seat seeing Luna. "Luna! Hey."
"Hi, Evan." She smiles at the man who was grinning like a child. "Edmundo." she nods to Eddie not even looking in his direction for longer than a second.
His heart was pounding out of his chest. He couldnt believe what he was seeing, there infront of him was the most beautiful woman ever, they hadn't talked since the last time he saw her which was months ago, when she came to his door sick, and yet she still looked breathtaking. He didn't know what was being said but the bell rang before they could even get into the mac n cheese.
There was a call about a cat who was stuck in a tree, and the husband also got stuck in the tree trying to rescue the cat. The next call was a girl with a lion's head stuck on her actual head. She just brought the costume and was trying it on when the head got stuck. Luna, Chim, and Eddie were trying to pull the head off.
"Okay, whose idea was it to use the Vaseline?" Chimney asks as everyone is looking down at their hands. They were slick and slimy covered in the thick substance.
"All right, all right, settle down. Here Chim grabs this side, Edmundo, you grab that side with Hen, and on the count of three we pull." Luna grabs her side. "Ready." she nods to everyone who nods back. "One two three."
"Here we go, here we go." They get the head off and Luna stumbles back almost falling into the pool, Eddie helps her regain her balance as she holds the lion's head in her hands.
"Okay, guess we don't need the jaws," Buck says as the girl who was in the costume throws up all over him. "Oh, come on." He whines as Luna winces.
"At least someone ate today." Eddie mutters as Buck groans.
They head back to the firehouse ready to chow down when Bobby winces. "Oh, no." He places the now charred Mac n cheese on the counter as everyone groans. "Looks like we're ordering in. Not that we're jinxed." the fire bell rings right as he says that.
"Yeah, definitely not jinxed." Buck rolls his eyes at Eddie.
The next call was about a woman who had an octopus stuck on her face., then the other one was about a guy whose head was stuck under the seat of a movie theatre, then a kid who was stuck in one of the dryers. And now they were at a clown store, and Eddie and Buck were getting more supplies outside.
"You ever replay a conversation in your head and worry you sounded like an idiot?"
"Have you met me?" Buck replies as Eddie chuckles.
"The last time Luna and I were together, she threw up on my shirt and told me that everyone she worked with Hated me..."
Buck winces. "Ooh, You haven't mentioned her in a long time."
"Well, she's my ex and I dont usually talk about my ex."
"True." they walk inside seeing a bump of helium tanks on top of a clown. "Interesting."
" Help me move some of these tanks to relieve the pressure," Bobby asks his voice high-pitched from the Helium.
"Uh..." Eddie and Buck Look at each other laughing.
"Come on!" Buck and Eddie laugh Harder.
"It's your voice."
Hen and Luna make a face. "Buck!" it only causes the two to laugh Harder. " Be a professional!"
The 118 was leaving the building of another call.
"Man, that was a boring call. Two people are stuck in an elevator. They didn't even need medical attention or anything."
"Don't say it, Edmundo." Hen mutters as he sighs.
"How can I not? Y'all acting like a bunch of Viejas. There is no curse."
"Oh, he's so definitive now," Chimney mutters as Luna is putting away the rest of the supplies they got out along with everyone else. She takes off the turn-out jacket she was wearing.
"Ooh, sure is windy," Buck replies as Luna nods. "You guys feel that?" Luna opens the door to the rig for him and he climbs into the back.
"Nobody is saying you have to believe in curses. Just maybe don't tempt fate."
"How's that not the same thing" Eddie climbs into the back the only other seat left was next to Luna. "It was a normal call." He buckles his seatbelt. "Went like clockwork. Wham, bam, thank you, ma'am."
"You notice how you never hear anyone say, "wham, bam, thank you, sir"?"
"It doesn't rhyme," Buck mutters as Luna laughs. She pulls down the sleeves of her long sleeve shirt.
"Or maybe all that whammin' and bammin' is nothing to write a thank you note about."
Eddie chuckles. "The point is I think this proves that the whole jinx thing is a little silly and we should be all done with it." as soon as he says that there is a loud bang and the sound of electricity zapping sparks are flying on either end of the window from the roof of the rig.
"Hey, Cap. Did a live power pole just fall on the engine?"
"I believe it did, Chimney," Bobby replies in the same placid tone.
"- Right. No curse here." everyone looks at Eddie who just rolls his eyes.
It had been ten minutes and the group sat in the rig, Luna was sweating profusely, she had taken off a few layers. But still, she finally caves and takes off her button-up, accidentally brushing up against the side of Eddie, he sits up in the seat looking over at her, she was fiddling with her shirt covering her wrist trying to adjust herself. He takes note, watching as she scratches at the scars they were still healing. He furrows his brows at her wrist before looking up at her she was too busy looking away to notice his staring.
Chimney's phone pings indicate he had another text. "Aha! It is a real thing." He shows his phone to Eddie who ignores him making a face to indicate he was irritated."Okay, so we have to move our hands this kind of motion and ring the bells..nine times."
"Nine in total or nine for each of us?"
"It's unclear. I think maybe we should all do it just to make sure we lift the curse completely." Chimney continues as Luna nods.
"Well, is it a curse? I know we called it that, but technically, I think it's a jinx."
"What's the difference?" Buck asks.
Luna yawns. "Curse a solemn utterance intended to invoke a supernatural power to inflict harm or punishment on someone or something. Jinx is a person or thing that brings bad luck." she simply replies. As everyone nods. "We have a jinx on our hands."
"I mean i think we angered the gods," Hen says as Luna nods.
"All right, I got it. Here we go. How to appease the gods." Buck starts googling on his phone.
"Okay, wait. So is a hex and a curse the same thing?"
"By that, you mean both are made up and not real? Yes." Eddie sasses as Luna rolls her eyes.
"What more proof do you need, Eddie? We are trapped in a death box. Thousands of volts of electricity course through every book and cranny. Any one of us could get fried like that."
"Or we just don't touch any doors or windows until help arrives and nobody gets fried. With or without a curse... or jinx, whatever." Bobby explains,
"Typical."
He looks at her with wide eyes. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"You are always like this,"
He sits up and turns his head to look at her. "Like what?"
"Cynical and nonbelieving if it's not factual you dont believe it, but Jinx and curses are backed by science some scientists even feel that curses are backed by everyday things, such as the q word." everyone nods in agreement with Luna.
He rolls his eyes laying his head back in the seat.
"All I can find is some kind of human or animal sacrifice. I'm not down with that." Buck replies as Luna laughs.
"Do you guys not hear yourselves right now?" Eddie sits up in the seat.
"Do you?"
"It's like the universe is screaming at you and you refuse to listen."
"The universe does not scream," Eddie says as the Electricity Warbling and Zapping loudly again.
"Oh, there are forces at work here. Forces beyond my control and your control..."
"That's it. That's the difference between you and me. I don't worry about things that I can't control."
Luna scoffs. "Oh, we know." She sasses as Hen fist bumps her.
"Sure, but you can say you don't worry about things you can't control, but can you at least acknowledge that something is controlling the things that you can't control?"
"Like what? Gremlins? Boogeyman? Santa Muerte? Look, we've had a crappy day. It happens. But it didn't happen because of a curse or a hex or because someone said the word Qu..."
"Hey, hey, don't!"Bobby yells.
"Come on, Bobby. You really can't believe all this." Eddie turns to look at his captain.
"You know, Cap, you have been pretty silent today about all this jinx stuff."
"Yeah. Suspiciously silent." Chimney chimes in.
"Yeah, Cap. Come on. Where do you stand? Jinx or no jinx?"
The truck goes silent for a second. "Aren't we all a little superstitious? People don't like to walk under ladders, some buildings don't have a floor, and we bless people after they sneeze. Some of us even wear a good luck charm around their neck." Bobby explains as everyone looks at Eddie's lips pursed.
"That's not the same thing."
"To you, but wearing that reminds you of your son, and...." Eddie clears his throat looking at Luna who was too busy scrolling through her phone. He had been wearing the necklace with her birthstone attached to it he strung it on the same chain as his Saint Christopher medal so he could have them both with him, Luna got it as a gift for his birthday the last time they were together. "It helps you feel better about the day. So if Chimney wants to ring some bells so he can feel better, what's wrong with that?"
"You never actually answered the question, though, Cap."
" Yeah," Evan replies as a truck horn honks.
"Ah, and help has arrived. Look at that. And help is stopping to take pictures of us trapped in our engine. Great. This is great." He sighs as they watch the 133 taking photos.
"And the jinx continues."
It was nighttime now and Luna was sleeping on the couch downstairs, she had her headphones in listening to music. Everyone else was upstairs reading. When Eddie appears.
"Ah, thought you were hitting the bunks."
He walks over to the fridge. "Couldn't sleep."
"Maybe that curse is getting to you too," Bobby smirks at him as he grabs a bottle of water.
"Or maybe I just couldn't sleep."
"Yeah, welcome to the club," Chim mumbles not taking his eyes from his book.
"Am I interrupting book club?" He jokes.
"Medical, babies, women." Hen points to each person in the room.
"Wondering why Buck had a book in his hand, but now it all makes sense." He teases as Chimney chuckles.
"Eddie, what would you say Luna's love language is?"
"Luna?" Hen perks up.
Eddie shakes his head at Buck and sucks in a breath. He never mentioned the last time they met. Or the talk he had with Buck about wanting to get her back. "Wait, are you dating Luna again?" Hen asks as everyone is now intrigued.
"Baby's not here yet." Chimney closes the book quickly plopping it down on the table. "You and Luna? Does this mean she's coming back?"
Eddie sighs as Bobby is walking over. "Luna and I got trapped in that rain storm that happened a few months back, she drove over to my place, she was crying, and then she threw up all over me and.."
"You nursed her back to health and made mad passionate love the rest of the night."
Eddie sighs. "Well not exactly. Look I didn't say anything because..."
"You were embarrassed, the woman you loved slipped through your grasp again," Hen says as he nods.
"So instead you chose to sleep with Christopher's teacher?"
"I apologized for that."
"But still didn't ask her out?" Chimney asks.
"She's my ex. And I'm pretty sure she still hates me."
"How do you know?" Bobby asks as Eddie sighs looking at his friends. They are all giving him a knowing look except Chimney who is wearing a shit-eating grin. The bell rings and he is so thankful.
They arrive on the call seeing a man hosing down his house with a hose. Bobby turns to his crew, "Buck, you three." He points to Luna and Eddie. " start running a hose line. Chim, Hen, shut down the utilities here and the neighboring houses. Gas, power, water."
Bobby talks with the homeowner only for fireworks to start flying everywhere.
"Everybody back!" Hen and Chimney are trying to get the onlookers to back up as the fireworks are exploding wildly throughout the house.
"Buck, need another pair of hands around back," Bobby yells as Buck looks at Eddie Luna was working on something on the truck.
"Go. I got this."
"Sure?"
"Yeah go." Buck leaves as Eddie begins pulling the hose up, it stuck on the mailbox. Luna was about to help but some guy steps in his jacket and read Harmon, she just shakes it off.
Back at the firehouse, Luna was laying back on a cot she was reading a book, having been able to sleep again. Eddie sighs he grabs another water bottle and brings it over to her. He stands there hand outstretched infront of her.
She looks up removing and looking at Eddie. "Oh, thank you Edmundo."
He sits down next to her on another cot. "You dont have to use my first name."
Luna closes her book. "I do, I dont know, it just seems awkward if I call you Eddie, that's for people who are close and we are estranged."
Eddie nods. "Yeah." he opens the water bottle sipping it. As Luna watches she sees the chain from the metal hanging slightly from his collar. She reaches out and pulls on it, pulling out from his shirt, she sighs running her fingers over it. "I haven't taken it off since you added the stones."
Luna admires it feeling nostalgic. "When I first took the medal I thought for sure you would be mad at me. I was worried Chris was gonna spoil the surprise. You were so upset when the clasp broke and I couldnt stand it."
Eddie smiles a bit remembering that day. "I came home from the longest shift of my life and there you guys were standing at the table with this awful-looking cake."
Luna laughs. "God we tried to frost that cake for an hour before you got home."
Eddie chuckles a bit. "Yeah and Chris was all excited for me to try it. It was still raw in the middle." they both laugh hard. Luna was nodding alongside him. She places a hand on his shoulder trying to stop herself from falling over from Laughter. Eddie looks down at her hand, he takes it in his the laughter dying down. He turns her hand over running a finger over her hand. It sent shivers down her spine. It had been a while since she had had sex. And his touch wasnt helping. She got instant goosebumps her breathing hitched.
He runs a finger over her wrist and she jumps a bit they were still sore still tender. "What happened?" His voice was soft almost raspy.
The room grew so silent Luna thought her ears were clogged. But they weren't and this was bound to happen. The questions and to be honest she didn't know.
She didn't know what happened all she knew was hurt and pain and she wanted out of it and fast.
They lock eyes and Luna rips hers away from his twiddling her hands around nervously.
"You wouldn't look at me the same if I told you." She closes her eyes trying her hardest not to lose control.
She had never wanted to die more than she did that night. And looking back on it just shattered something in her.
"I miss you, Astro." that was the nickname that he gave Luna. and she missed it rolling around on his tongue. "I am sorry." she shivers as he runs his fingers slowly and gingerly up and down her arms and hands. He watches as her head falls back a shutter left her lips and his breathing hitched as he watched her, she was unraveling infront of him. Her shoulders lax, lips parted into an O.
He brushes her hair back out of her face, and their eyes lock on each other, she says nothing immediately kissing him. Her hands around his neck, they were in a heated makeout, he lays her down on her back thankful that no one was using this room, that this small sleeping place was occupied for one person and that was her.
"I want you.." she whimpers and that statement alone makes him groan, he throws his head back shutting his eyes before they continue back to kissing his hands roaming all around her body, he unbuttons her top revealing her bralette, it was plum and lacey he could see her nipples through it, and he can't help but growl at the sight, she was making him lose all sense of direction all sense of morality.
They kiss again passionately and takes her arms pushing them above her head. He holds her wrist together with one hand. Running a hand down her back as it arches. He stops unclasping her bra. And raises her arms as the straps fall down her arms and off her body.
He wanted to take his time but considering the circumstances he couldn't. He looks at Luna one more time.
"Are you sure?..." She says nothing kissing him hungrily before undoing his belt. With her hands. She was eager her body was thumping with need. She had never wanted something so bad in her life. She unbuckles her own belt and they kiss again as their hips grind against each other.
They say nothing as they get dressed, Luna was checking herself out in the mirror, she runs a finger over her neck shuddering at the memory of his lips being there. She opens her mouth to speak and the bell rings. They just hurry towards the rig, fixing their clothes as they hop into the rig acting as if nothing happened as if they didn't just have mindblowing sex a few minutes ago.
"All clear. No gas leak. However, the gas is gonna remain shut down until further investigation." Bobby explains as Luna and Buck are rounding up the gear.
"I'm gonna get canned. 20 years of customer service up in smoke... or gas."
"There wasn't any of either, Jim," Buck comments as Luna Chuckles.
"It's still Larry!" The man pouts folding his arm over his chest.
"Caller said he was a fire chief." Athena turns to Bobby and the others.
"Someone else pretending to be LAFD?"
"What do you mean, someone else?" Athena furrows her brows.
Bobby looks behind them at the crowd. " Maybe the same someone. Hey!" He walks toward the crowd of onlookers. "Hey" the guy starts running.
"Hey! I got him, Cap. Hey!" Buck starts chasing after the guy, he was catching up with him when he trips and falls. Hey! Hey, I just wanna talk! Hey, man!" the guy climbs into the rig.
"No, no, no, no! Hey! Come on! Hey, come on! Hey, hey, hey! Hey, hey!" He takes off in the engine rig.
"Uh-oh. Not on my watch!" Athena takes off getting into her squad car.
"Dispatch, this Captain Nash 118, Our engine just got hijacked." He says into the radio as Hen and Chimney run up they had bags of food in their hands.
"Okay, what'd we miss?" Chimney asks his mouth full of food.
"Still jinxed," Buck replies groaning loudly.
"When did you guys last refill that gas tank?" Bobby asks
"I just topped it off. He's got, like, four hours, give or take."
"Yeah, unless he crashes it first." He sighs as everyone just groans they were having a bad day.
"I have only been here a day." Luna laughs unbelieving of what was happening. Dispatch calls about a five-alarm fire and now they were really confused as to what to do.
"What do we do?" Buck asks
Bobby starts looking around." Uh... everybody in the ambulance, now!" everyone begins piling into the ambulance, and Luna squeezes herself in as Eddie closes the door.
"Cap, there's not enough room."
"Just get on the gurney, Buck," Eddie says as Buck climbs on top, the
" This is a terrible idea."
"Well, we're already jinxed, so we may as well embrace it," Hen says as everyone shrugs.
"Had to steal the engine. Couldn't have taken the ambulance instead."
"Hey, bite your tongue," Luna grumbles as Buck sighs sitting his head up from the gurney
"Yeah, we're en route to a fire without any of our gear."
"It's a five-alarm. Other units are gonna respond and we will assist any way we can." Bobby replies simply
" Cap, we don't even have our helmets. Without your equipment on-scene..."
The ambulance jolts and Luna falls into Eddie, he chuckles a bit brushing some of her hair back behind her shoulder. She clears her throat, looking away from Eddie. He stands there grabbing the handle above his head, one hand around Luna's waist. An idea sparks in his head.
"Maybe there's a way to get it there." Eddie pulls down his mask and grabs his radio. "Brian, it's Eddie Diaz. You there?" there was radio silence. "Hey, Brian. If you're there, key the radio so I know you're listening." Radio Key chime. "I just wanted to say thank you for helping us out at the garage fire. I needed your help. We needed your help. You were there."
The radio bleeps. "That's it. All I ever wanted was to help people."
"I know that's what you had planned when you put on that uniform. Things don't always turn out the way we planned. Sucks. I know. Can't let yourself get stuck. All you can do is let go," He looks down at Luna their eyes boring into each other. " Apologize for your mistakes and hope that you will be forgiven. I know it sounds scary, but I know you can do it."
"No! I'm... I'm not brave...I want to be, but I'm not a hero like you."
"You wanna be a hero? There's a five-alarm fire right now. We need your help. People's lives depend on you." The radio goes silent and Eddie hits himself lightly on the forehead.
"No one's ever given me the chance!"
"Here's your chance. I know you want to do the right thing, Brian. You're so close." Eddie says everyone was looking around at each other.
"I can't. I can't do it. I'm not a hero!"
" We need you, Brian. We need you."
" Suspect is turning onto Hill. He's turning onto Hill."
"Gonna say you guys missed the snow. Didn't realize you're the main act." Athena teases as the 118 arrive at the fire.
"Your penny never stood a chance." Bobby holds up a Penny.
"Hey, thank you. You did a good thing." Eddie pats Brian on the back who was cuffed infront of him. They attend to the fire and before long their shift is over.
The group finds themselves standing outside the locker room, Bobby invited them to go out to Breakfast and everyone accepted. Luna was packing up her bag, she was ready to sleep for the rest of the days she was in town. The group turns to leave as Eddie adjusts his belt.
"Eddie, you gonna meet us there?"
"Sorry, guys. I, um," He looks back at the locker room seeing Luna packing up her bag. " I already have plans." They watch his gaze everyone smiling they nod deciding to leave.
Eddie takes a breath, he adjusts his hair in the small mirror before walking into the locker room. He lets out the air before clearing his throat. Luna looks up she has a small smile on her face.
"What a shift am I right?" she chuckles, "I need to sleep forever."
"Let's get breakfast." Luna closes the locker looking at Eddie with a worried glance. "It's just breakfast nothing else, just two friends eating food."
Luna thinks for a moment looking at Eddie with a perplexed look. "Fine, but your paying." she collects her duffle bag and Eddie opens the door for her gesturing for her to enter.
At the restaurant, Luna comes back from the bathroom. Her hair flowing behind her it was in loose kinks as she pushes some hair behind her shoulder and sits down in the chair across from Eddie scooting herself in.
"So how's that day from hell turn out?"
"You know, I'm starting to think it turned out pretty good. Let's get something to eat." Eddie chuckles smiling at Luna.
"I am starving." She sings as he laughs.
The server comes over to them. "Can I get you guys something to drink?"
" Maybe coffee?" "Coffee," they say at the same time both of them looking at each other with smiles.
"Jinx." they both say laughing. They begin ordering their drinks and the waitress leaves to get them,
Eddie was nervous but he was excited, he was happy for the longest time in his life he was happy. Even if it was just them being friends, it was a start right, a start to a beautiful relationship. Luna was enjoying her trip to L.A. But she couldnt wait to get back to Austin. To be with her crew saving lives. She was growing, going to therapy trying to forgive. So she and Eddie had a rocky relationship, she was forgiving and forgetting and learning to love herself, and if being friends with her ex was a part of that plan then so be it.
