(5) A Family Reunion

The smell of burning oil and smoke filled the air before a loud crash echoed through the house. Fire! It must be her! I clenched my fist and ran towards the front door.

"I didn't do it!" Hana exclaimed.

"Okay..." I hesitated a bit, confused as to why she said that. I was too focused on the current situation to throw my theories at her.

I acted before thinking as I ripped open my shirt to reveal my purple silver spandex suit.

"You're Mindlocke?!?" I grit my teeth, I forgot that Hana followed me. I looked out the window to see a male in a black suit standing between two burning vehicles.

I clenched my fist tighter as I began to shake. Why does he have to show up now?

"Come my children." His muffled voice rings through my ears.

Children? Does that mean? I looked over to Hana, her fists were clenched and her eyes were shut. I looked back to see father lifting up the two flaming cars with his psychokinetic power. My eyes widened as I flung open the door.

"Don't!" I raised my hand as he flung the flaming vehicles towards the house. Sweat dripped from my forehead as I used my own psychokinetic power to catch them before they destroyed the last of what I had.

Holding them in the air, I felt a warm rush of wind by my side. I looked to see Hana running towards the male. The fire from the vehicles moving towards her as it abandons it's current host. I dropped the vehicles to see the female throw a punch with a firery fist toward the man that helped conceived me.

It is her! I held my head, which side do I stop? Do I help the super that kills or the man who left me for dead?

I watched as my father and my apparent sister fought against each other. Why is this all happening now?

Hana threw another flaming fist at father, he held his hand out and caught it. The fire tanning his skin yet he didn't seem to mind. He swiped his arm to the side and the fire dispersed.

Can he control fire too? Impossible, there has never been a super with dual powers. Has there?

I watched as the female was caught off guard and uppercut in the jaw, Hana must have flown about 6 feet before I squatted down in an attempt to catch her. She landed in my arms which caused me to fall back onto my butt.

"Are you okay?" I asked, helping the female to her feet. Her skin burned at the touch, but I fought through the pain. I decided on my side.

"Yeah. I'm fine." Hana took a step to to the side, pulling her hot hands away from me.

"Let's beat this monster!" I smirked holding my slightly burnt hand out to my sister. A small smile crept upon her face as she gripped my hand. I waited for the burn, but it never came. Strange....

I threw a fist at my old man, rage and anger over taking me. His sly smirk twisting his face into the one I dreaded.

Hana jumped in after my attack with one of her own. The male bent his back backwards as he dodged both our attacks.

Thrusting forward, he shoved a wave of force towards us. I used my power to soften Hana's landing, while I flew back about ten feet, slamming into the brick wall of the neighbour's house.

"Agh..." I arched my back as I slid to the ground.

"Joe!" Hana's voice rang through my head as my vision blurred. My head pounded as though a train had smacked it. I held my head, and felt something wet. My eyes widened as I pulled my bloodied hands out in front of me. I closed my eyes as I concentrated on my breathing.

Hana's scream jolted me out of my trance. I shifted my head over to the side to see Hana on the ground while my father held my grandmother in the air with his power. My eyes widened as I saw the pain in her eyes.

"Grandma....!" I stumbled to my feet, weak and wobbly.

"...Joe...." Her voice was soft and calm, yet she had fear in it too. "L-Let me go..., k-keep Hana safe." The corners of her mouth lifted up into a warm smile. My eyes filled with tears.

"No! Don't give up grandma! I'll save you! I'll stop him! Just don't give up!" I yelled, falling to my knees. I wasn't strong enough to stand, how would I be strong enough to defeat him?

"...Goodbye...." She closed her eyes as he slowly closed his fist. Like an invisible noose, lines slowly appeared on her neck.

"No!" I reached my hand out as tears streamed down my cheeks, running like little mini endless waterfalls. I watched in horror as the life slipped out of her the tighter he closed his fist. I watched as he released his hold on her and dropped her to the ground without a care, as though she were nothing but a worthless piece of trash.

"Pathetic." He grumbled as though disgusted by my love for my grandma. "Come find me at the old mill once you become worthy of being my son." He then turned to look at Hana. He looked at her as though she were a piece of gum that got stuck on the bottom of his shoe. "Consider yourself disowned, you worthless piece of shit."

I growled, anger bottled up inside me. How dare he treat her like that! I didn't care what he thought about me, but I detested how he treated Hana. I looked at my sister as her tears became steam before they made it down her cheeks. Our anger and hatred for that man must have been mutual.

A dark smirk grew upon his already twisted face as he feasted on our reactions. Feeling satisfied with his reunion, the male turned away and used his power to blast off into the sky.

As I watched him vanish into the distance, my vision became hazy before I blacked out.

I loath my father indefinitely.
