Chapter Two

As Burn and Nile landed in the courtyard, Blister looked up from her scroll. "What have you got there?" Blister asked, eyeing the coconut.
"None of your business!" Burn snapped, twitching her tail irritably. Blister raised her own tail half an inch, and Burn snorted so hard that little flames came out of her nose. "You? Fight me? You must be out of your mind! You can even hurt Blaze your so pathetic!"
"One day..." Blister muttered under her breath, and then continued to read her scroll. Burn ignored her.
"Come on," she said to Nile. "Let's go and leave this idiot to her reading." Burn and Nile scampered into the castle, and starting walking down the many corridors. The twists and turns even made Burn forget how to go place to place. Smolder, her brother, was probably the only dragon in the SandWing kingdom that could say they knew the interior of the SandWing palace like the back of their talon. He constantly ran through the hallways, saying one word throughout: "Flower". Some dragons said he losing his mind. Burn agrees. As they turned a corner, Burn ran right into her mother, Queen Oasis. Burn was almost as tall as her, but in this moment she was looking particularly big and grim. Her scarred and huge demeanor with her with her thick limbs and neck. Yes, Burn was the image of her mother.
"Burn. I was looking for you." she said with a haughty grace. Nile shivered and inches closer to Burn, who wrapped a protective wing around her.
"Well you found me. What do you want?" Burn snarled. Her mother twitched her wings back, in apparent distress.
"I need you to fly to the SkyWing kingdom." Queen Oasis said coldly.
     "What?! Why?" Burn shouted.
"Don't ask questions!" her mother snapped.
"I'll ask as many as I want! Why do I need to go?"
"I need to... uh... establish an alliance. In case of war." Oasis said, looking away.
     "Then go yourself!" Burn growled.
"I am the queen!" Oasis yelled, stretching her wings out as if to look better. "I will not be bossed around by dragonets! I have duties to attend to in my own kingdom! You, as the eldest are commanded to go!" she looked away for a moment again, and then looked back at Burn, flames coming out of her snout. "Perhaps I was wrong thinking you wanted this position. Maybe Blister would be better suite-"
"We can both go," Blister's voice suddenly said. She was standing behind Burn and Nile, her wings folded around the scroll she was just reading. "Why not let Blaze go too? I think three SandWing princesses might equal one queen, don't you?" Oasis folded her wings close to her body and eyed Blister. She seemed to make a quick decision in her mind.
"Very well. Why don't you go and fetch Blaze? And Burn get ready, you're leaving in an hour."

An hour later Burn, Blister, Blaze, and five other SandWing guards were flying to the SkyWing palace. Burn had wanted Nile to go with her, but her mother had shouted her down and ordered Nile to leave. In the end, she was stuck with her sisters. They were delayed because Blaze had panicked at being asked to leave at such short notice and tired to stuff all of her jewels in her pouch. Even now she was fretting she didn't have enough.
"I mean, I do want to look good in front of the SkyWings! First impressions are everything!" she was jabbering to the guard soaring next to her, who was nodding and agreeing with her whenever she paused or took a breath. This was another thing that was required.
"Three moons," Blister grumbled under her breath. "DO YOU EVER SHUT UP?!" She roared at Blaze. Burn, who was flying in front, sighed and turned around.
"If both of you don't shut your snouts right now, I'll rip them off your face!" she snarled at the pair of them. The rest of the journey was quiet, until it started to rain. All eight SandWings started to shiver at once.
"Say we take refuge in a cave until this clears up?" Burn said to the group at large. They all nodded and divided towards a forest between the Sky and SandWing kingdoms. Landing on the soggy forest floor, Burn glanced around at the surrounding trees. There was no place to hide from the rain.
"My jewels are getting soaked!" Blaze complained loudly. Blister suddenly lunged forward and with quick, precise motions she cut down serval trees. Tying the vines and branches together she easily made a den for herself that blocked most of the rain. She settled herself down and stared up at her seven companions as they hastened to copy her. Soon, everyone had a den to wait the rain under. Burn didn't like the feeling of being trapped. The rain was like knives that were twisting and poking at her heart. But soon, the rhythmic thundering of the rain lulled her into a deep sleep.
