Special Chapter: A War on Pranks
-Y/n's POV, Two Weeks After Getting Blake Back-
"Damn, I really don't wanna have to study today." I said to myself under my breath as I sat in the dorm room at one of the desks, staring at the words on a page rather than actually wanting to read them. It was Saturday and I had to study, but I sure as heck didn't want to. Finals were coming very soon. The girls were sitting on their beds, Yang and Ruby were on their scrolls, Blake was reading a book, and Weiss was tooling around with her dust vials. They were talking to each other, rambling on about random things until my ears were able to pick up Yang quietly saying the words, 'prank' and 'Y/n' with an almost mute giggle afterwards. I stopped and thought about it for a second. She was gonna do something to me. My pranking instincts then kicked in, and I started thinking about everything around me and what she could use against me. I heard her drop from her bed to the ground, her footsteps slowly closing in on my position. I then knew exactly what she was going to do.
"I gotcha!" Yang shouted. I felt the chair move as Yang pulled it out from under me....
...but....
...I stayed in the sitting position I was in previously, my hand and feet holding my entire body up while there was no chair under me to sit on. It was as if nothing even happened. I didn't even move a muscle, though I did have to strain a little bit to keep myself in place. I could tell by the silence that they were all looking at what just occurred.
"Woah!" Ruby awed in amazement.
"How?" Yang asked me in a bit of shock and confusion. I got up from my air-sitting position and stretched my arms and legs a bit.
"I think you've forgotten that I've pulled just about every prank there is throughout my time at Signal Academy, and I'm still learning now. Someone pulling out a chair from under me is kinda weak. Sorry, but it's going to take a lot more than that to prank the Prank Master, Yang."
"Well, I was only doing it to get your mind off studying. You've been doing it for a couple hours now... That and I was bored." She sat the chair down and I put it back into its place.
"Yeah, you're right though. I should probably take a break and do something fun. First thing on the list, bathroom!" I walked over to the bathroom, the door left ajar for easy entry. I stopped the second before my hand touched the door to open it. Something felt fishy about it. Normally, the girls kept the door closed at all times, even if no one was in the bathroom. I had a sneaky feeling that....
I grabbed the doorknob and pulled it towards me, closing the door shut. I then heard a splash and a metallic thud on the other side. She was trying to get me again! I put on a smug look and turned my gaze over to Yang. She stood in defeat with her arms crossed. I giggled a little before going into the bathroom.
...
After the bathroom break, including cleaning up the failed, and sad attempt at another prank, I came out with a slightly greedy smile on my face.
"Yang...Xiao...Long." I said her full name. "Did you just try to trick me a second time?"
"Yeah, but that one was Ruby's doing, though I had the idea." She grinned. "I had her set the bucket of water up while you were out getting a book from the library."
I displayed the same grin as she did, crossing my own arms.
"One attempt flatters me. Two attempts mean you're up for a something."
"And maybe I am up for something: An All Out Prank War!" She pumped her fist in the air, a fiery aura surrounding her.
"YES!!!!" Ruby cheered along with her older sister. Both Weiss and Blake groaned in annoyance. I laughed in a slightly evil and smug manner before my mood grew more serious in nature.
"You do not want this fight, Yang."
"Oh, I'm pretty sure I do." She winked at me.
"You don't, trust me." I shook my head.
"And what makes you think I don't?"
"Cause you and I both know I'll win."
"Hmph, We'll see about that!" Yang became feisty, excited about what was soon to come.
"Alright then. This means war." It was decided, and declared. I felt that this would be a great thing to do on a weekend rather than study, but this would also be helpful in keeping my reputation at the top when it came to pulling tricks. "So, I was thinking we could have teams." I suggested.
"Teams?" Ruby tilted her head in question.
"Please don't say what I think you're about to say." Weiss looked over to me in a worried fashion.
"Yang, you and I can be team captains. I want to go ask team JNPR if they want to join in. If they say yes, we can both choose who we want on our teams." I explained my plan.
"But, that would make nine people in total, it would be off." Blake spoke up, keeping her attention to her book.
"Ah, Yang's team would have the extra person. I feel as I should have a handicap, since I'm, well, a professional."
"Sounds good." Yang gave me a nod. "Man, this is going to be a blast! I'm going all out!"
"Perfect. I'll go see if they're in their dorm. Be back shortly." I walked out of the room and across the hall to their door, knocking a couple times. Ren opened the door with a kind smile.
"Greetings, Y/n. How are you today?"
"Oh, I'm fine. Question, are you and your team busy for the next.... I don't know how long actually...couple of days maybe?"
"Ah...." I watched as he looked back in his room to see all of his teammates lazing around, doing practically nothing. "We're... free."
"Good. Would you like to take part in a prank war between Yang and I?"
"A.... Prank war?" He had the sound of confusion in his voice.
"Yeah... Thought we could do something fun this weekend. I wanted to see if you were in." He pondered on it for a moment before coming to an answer.
"Sure, we'll take part in your war of pranks."
"Alright. Come over to our place in a second. We'll talk over the rules."
"We'll see you in a minute." He nodded, closing the door. I walked back over to my dorm, Yang sitting on her bed.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we got'em."
"They joining the war?" Yang hopped down once more, eager to hear my answer to her question.
"They'll be over in a bit so we can go over the rules and assign teammates."
"Perfect."
"Ooooo, I'm excited. I've never been in a prank war before." Ruby said eagerly.
"Yeah, I'm excited too, sis. I'm gonna show Y/n that I can beat even a master."
"Hehe, Yeah, right. Anyway, I've definitely been in a prank war before."
"You have?"
"Kind of. It was at Signal between a friend of mine and I, though my final winning prank ended up becoming more of an entire school prank rather than one solely towards him." I started to reminisce a little about my third year there.
"What did you do?" Ruby asked, curious about one of my feats.
"I came to school with a lot of cereal and a lot of milk. I plugged the drains of every sink of every male bathroom at the Academy and basically created breakfast in a sink."
"I'm going to stop you right there.... You did WHAT?!" Weiss looked at me with absolute shock and confusion. I swear I even saw Blake glance over in my direction for a quick second with a weirded out reaction.
"So that's why there were a ton of cereal boxes and milk cartons in the classroom trashcans." Ruby said. "I was wondering what that was about."
"..And the fact that all the boys bathrooms were closed for the first couple hours of the school day." Yang added.
"Yeah.... that too."
"Yeah I pulled that one before school hours. That was one of the biggest ones I've done. Still really confused as to how they didn't catch me on that one."
"That's really cool, Y/n. Hearing that makes me think this war is going to be hard." Ruby scratched her head a little with a nervous giggle. Suddenly, a knock came to the door. "Oh, that must be JNPR."
I walked over to the door and opened it, team JNPR standing at the entrance.
"Hey guys, come on in." They all walked in and stood off to the side. Yang and I stood side by side in front of the entire group. "Alright everyone. Welcome to the first official prank war of Beacon Academy. This war will have two teams: Team Yang and Team Y/n. Yang will be choosing first so she can have more people to her team than mine. I will be handicapped as I have more experience in the field. Everyone has one life. If you are pranked or surrender mid-battle, then you are out of the war. You are not allowed to interfere or take part in the war if you are out. You could help give ideas to someone, but you are unable to supply or help set up pranks in any way. During a prank, anything goes, but the only in-battle rule is to not ruin something super expensive or super personal. One more thing, if the team captain is out before the rest of their team, then it's a full loss for the team. Now, lets start picking teammates. Go ahead, Yang."
"With pleasure. Hmmm.." She put her hands on her hips as she thought, looking around the room of friends. "I'll take my sister of course." She pointed at Ruby. She came up and hugged Yang happily.
"Yay!" She cheered.
"Alright then. My turn. I choose Nora." I said immediately. I knew Nora was strong-willed and could definitely last the longest in this war, besides me at least. Grabbing her was essential. I had a feeling she had potential to prank well and also resist one.
"I'll take Blake." Blake looked up from her book as she was still laying in her bed. She sighed, closing it and getting up, walking over to Yang.
"Alright. Guess I'll play along. It does seem a little fun." Blake had a small smile.
"I'll borrow Pyrrha." Pyrrha was a great warrior, or at least I've been told. Didn't really know about her ability to notice pranks or dish them out. What's the worse that could happen. She walked up to me with a kind grin, standing next to Nora.
"Thank you for choosing me. I'll be sure to do well." She said.
"Your turn again, Yang."
"Then, I'll go with Ren." Ren nodded and walked up next to Yang.
"Awww but I don't wanna go against Ren." Nora pouted a little. "I'll try to go easy on you.... maybe." She winked at Ren.
"Next up, and last for my team, Weiss." I pointed at the heiress.
"What? Me? I didn't say anything about joining in on your weird war!" She snapped at me. She was technically correct, but we kind of assumed her position in this. I knew Weiss was going to be against it.
"C'mon Weiss. We're all doing this as friends. You have to play with us." Ruby pleaded to her teammate.
"Yeah, it would suck if we were all doing something fun and left you out." Hearing me say this, she thought a moment.
"We-Well, I guess it'd be boring if I was just left alone without you guys, so fine... I'll join your stupid thing. Don't expect me to do anything though." The Ice Queen crossed her arms and got up from her bed, walking up next to Nora, Pyrrha, and I. "I've never really done this before." She averted her eyes away from me.
"Then Jaune should be the last one. Come on over here." Jaune walked over to Yang, completing her team. Yang's team had five people, including her, while my team had four people, including me. This was going to be good.
"Alright everyone! I believe we are ready. Now remember, you can be pranked anywhere at any time. Let the first Official Beacon Academy Prank War commence!!!" I cheered. Ruby and Yang and a couple others cheered along, but it soon died into an awkward silence as we all just kinda stood around, wondering what to do next.
"So.. What do we do now?" Jaune asked with a questioning shrug.
"We go on about our day and attempt to prank people on the opposing team." I answered him.
"I have a question, is there a time limit to this?" Pyrrha raised her hand.
"Technically no, but I have a feeling that it'll probably finish by tomorrow evening, if not sometime during the week."
"Alright, thank you." Pyrrha lowered her hand, her question answered.
"Good luck guys." Everyone nodded to each other in agreement before team JNPR regrouped and went back to their dorm room, leaving RWBY and I to stay in ours. "Man this is going be fun. You guys better watch your backs, cause I'm coming for you.... Ah, I'm just kidding, I'll go easy on you in the beginning."
"Heh, You better watch your own back, tiger, cause my team and I are going to give you all we've got." Yang taunted me confidently, which caused me to laugh.
"Bring it on then, I can't wait to see what you can do."
...
...
...
A couple hours had passed and I've heard nothing. I was able to take myself a shower and chill out a bit, and I haven't been pranked yet. I put my team into a group chat on my scroll so we could all keep in touch, but nothing's happened so far. I wondered if anybody had already planned something. I was starting to get tired from playing defense, waiting for Yang or someone else to pull something. I was craving to start my rampage. I got up from my resting position, which was me sitting on my sleeping bag, messaging the rest of my team. I stretched my arms and legs, making my way to the door.
"Yo, where are you headed?" Yang asked me curiously. She had just gotten out of the bathroom and noticed me leaving.
"Ah...." I couldn't say I was going to go prank someone.. "Going to get some food."
She then cracked a smirk. "Alright then. See you soon. I heard the cafeteria has some good stuff." I could tell by her smile, she was up to something. It felt as if she wanted me to go. In the corner of my eye, I noticed something somewhat reflective at the base of the door to the room. I mentally facepalmed. She plastic-wrapped the door... I mean I could give her some credit for trying at least.
"Hey Weiss?" I looked over to the rich girl who was messaging someone on her scroll.
"Yes?"
"Can I borrow your scissors?" I gestured to her pencil cup on the desk nearest to me, which had scissors inside. Yang's eyes widened a little in surprise.
"Ah.. w-why do you need scissors?" She asked nervously, crossing her arms.
"Sure, whatever. Just put them back when you're done." Weiss didn't even move her head or anything. I grabbed the scissors and walked back over to the door.
"Thanks. And to answer your question, Yang..." I opened the door and stabbed the scissors through the almost invisible plastic wrap, cutting it all down. "...I'm cleaning up a failed attempt that could've been avoided with some more careful planning."
"What do you mean?" She became frustrated at yet another defeat on her part.
"You need to tuck in the excess wrap between the doorframe and the door, make it hidden. Also, close the curtains. Plastic wrap is slightly reflective. Since some excess was out, I was able to see it fairly easily." I put Weiss's scissors back in the cup and tossed the wrap in the trash, where it belonged. I then left the room, letting ideas flow through me for my first victim. Then it hit me. I needed to go for Blake first. But what would I do? Being a Faunus, she's probably very keen of her surroundings. Having those cat ears could....
I stopped my thought process for a second.
.....Cat.....
My brain then struck gold on the perfect idea. "My, my... seems I need to take a trip down to the city early in the morning. There's bound to be a shelter." I started laughing quietly, which slowly grew maniacal.
-Yang's POV-
"Jeez, he got you good, Yang." Ruby said from her bed with a slight frown to my defeat. I sighed before turning to my sister. "Not only is he good at pulling them, he's good at pointing them out and catching them."
"Yeah, I guess so. I think it's for the best that I wait on him for last. We should try and take down the rest of his team first and get him in the end." I punched my fists together confidently.
"I think that's a great idea, sis; And I can help. What about you, Blake?" My younger sister looked over to Blake, who was relaxing in her bed, reading a book, not really paying much attention.
"That does seem efficient, taking out the weaker ones before getting the leader. You also need to worry about him as well. He might go for any of us at any moment." She flipped another page to her story and continued to read silently.
"That really isn't my style. I like to take the main challenge head on, but it looks like I don't have a choice here."
"Do you think we should talk about this with Weiss here? She is on the other team." Ruby and I turned out heads to Weiss, who was tinkering with her weapon.
"I don't really care." She got up, putting her weapon on her bed. "I'm going to the library. I need to check out a book for class. Be back soon." She walked out of the room, closing the door behind her.
Once she was gone, I watched as Ruby grew a smirk on her face, hopping off of her bed. "I think we should get Weiss first."
"Oh? Does my sneaky little sis have a plan up her sleeve?"
"That I do, Yang. That I do."
"It would be useful to take out Weiss first." Blake spoke up again, still looking at her book. "If we prank Weiss first, he will have no one else to help him prank us in the room. Since the rest of his team are from JNPR, they can't have access to our dorm room without our permission, leaving him vulnerable and alone when it comes to being here."
"Blake's got a point, Yang. If Weiss goes, then he'll be the only one left to prank us while we're in the room for the rest of the war."
"Alright then. It's settled. Weiss is going down first. Any ideas? Ruby, Blake?" I looked at both of them. Blake went back to reading while Ruby was just pondering. She then seemed to have an idea. She walked over to her desk and pulled something out before walking back over to me.
"I bought these while I was out looking for Blake with Penny. They were selling them for the Vytal festival." She held out what she was holding. Fireworks?
"You got fireworks?"
"Yeah. I thought they were really cool and I wanted some. They're the little ones that you can throw on the ground really hard and pop."
"Alright, so what are you gonna do with them?" I questioned her. I really didn't have a clue as to what she was going for here. "Are you just gonna throw some at the ground when she isn't expecting it?"
"Mmmm" She thought once more before coming to a quick answer. "I can put them under the toilet seat, so when she sits down... POP!!!" She chuckled. My eyes widened a little in surprise that she thought of something like that. It was perfect.
"Ruby, that's genius!" I was genuinely proud of my little sister for such a good idea.
"That does seem like a good idea." Blake added.
"HeeHee! I'm, a genius!" She grinned to herself, proud of her own idea. We then got to work fixing the toilet up with the small fireworks.
...
...
-Y/n's POV-
I soon came back to the room from the cafeteria after eating some brain food. While I was eating, I had formed specific plans for pranking each individual person on Yang's team, including Yang herself. These plans would only go into place if either my team was wiped out, or if they were just generally unable to pull a decent enough prank to take anyone down.
"Hey guys. I'm back from the cafeteria."
"Oh, welcome back, Y/n." Ruby greeted me from her bed.
"Sup." Yang nodded upwards to me as a greeting, also sitting in her bed.
"While I was eating, I had made plans for pranking each of your teammates."
"Really?" Ruby asked. "You thought of a prank for each of us while you were at the cafeteria?"
"Yep."
"Is that so? I'd like to see you try." The blonde taunted me.
"Yeah just you wait. I already know who I'm getting first, then we'll see how it falls apart from there." I smirked at her. Weiss then got up and walked over to the bathroom. Yang, Ruby, and I watched as she entered through the door, closing it behind her. The two sisters started giggling.
"Sorry, tiger. But I think that we'll be getting first blood in this war." Yang had a smug grin on her face.
"What?" I looked at her, then the bathroom, then back at her. I then realized that she had to have placed a trap in the bathroom. I worried for Weiss. Suddenly, *BANG!!!* A loud noise came from the bathroom. Then a loud, girly scream came a second after. Both Yang and Ruby began to laugh. We then heard a loud, frustrated groan. The two laughed harder, the older one banging her hand on the bed while holding her gut. "What did you do?"
We heard the toilet flush. The bathroom door then swung open, revealing a very startled and very angry Weiss.
"What in the World of Remnant was that!!" She sternly yelled at Yang and Ruby. They kept laughing, unable to give Weiss an answer.
"They apparently got you good, Weiss. Sorry to say it, but you're out already." I said in a sad tone. The prank they pulled seemed a bit familiar to me. Weiss sighed and held the bridge of her nose.
"At least I'm not a part of this anymore." Weiss then went to her bed and laid down, looking at her scroll. I then figured it out.
"Wait a minute, did you guys put little firecrackers under the toilet seat?" I asked them.
"Yep! It was my idea!" Ruby admitted with glee, putting her hand up in the air.
"Ah, that's a classic. Not bad, not bad. I did the same thing to a teacher once. Put the same ones under her wooden chair and...you get the idea. Anyway, good job." I slow clapped.
"Haha! That's one down for team Y/n!" Yang cheered.
"YEAH!" Ruby mimicked her sister, throwing her an air high-five.
"Yeah, don't you worry guys. Revenge will come swiftly." I said evilly.
The rest of the day went smoothly with no hitches or attempts at anything. Everyone was probably thinking about what they were going to do. We all went to bed with an open mind for what's to come for the next couple days.

...
-The Next Morning-
It was almost dawn, and everyone was asleep, except for me of course. Teehee. I was able to sneak out of the room and out of the building. I then took a bullhead down to Vale. Once I arrived, I walked downtown to the local 24/7 animal shelter to grab exactly what I needed. The people there were really nice. All I had to tell them was that "I wanted to take care of the dogs for a little while". There weren't many there, probably six or seven, but that was perfect. They thought that letting me take all the dogs out for a while would be a great thing for the canines, and they agreed to it, somehow. I then walked the dogs to the nearest bullhead station and flew back to Beacon. They were all cute, all different breeds and sizes and ages. Once I got off at the school, I let them all pee on the trees and took them for a small walk around the campus before going to my dorm building. I somehow made it up each floor with seven dogs on leashes and got to the door. I looked down to the dogs. "Shhhh" I tried to quiet them down. I then gently opened the door to the room, letting go of the leashes, the dogs slowly trickling in one after another. I couldn't help but giggle to myself. I walked in, closing the door slowly and quietly behind me. I saw that the dogs immediately took a liking to Blake and her bed, though they were not disturbing her. One was laying on the bed itself, right at her feet, while the rest were laying around her bed on the ground. I sat down on my sleeping bag and took the liberty to watch online videos on my scroll until any of the girls woke up. One of the dogs, a Shiba, came over to me and rested its head on my leg. I pet the cute doggo as the sun ever so slowly rose above the horizon.
...
Soon, I heard the sounds of someone waking up. I glanced over to Yang's bed, seeing her head slowly raise up, her hair in a tangled mess. She yawned and stretched her arms out before rubbing her eyes. She turned to her side, about hop off the bed until she saw all of the dogs on the floor surrounding her and Blake's bunk.
"Psst!" I tried to get her attention quietly. Her gaze darted in my direction with a shocked expression on her face. Once her eyes hit my face, she was met with a smug grin. "I recommend you stay up there and wait for the fun." I whisper-yelled to her. She gave me a slightly frustrated look, the look of someone who was defeated and couldn't do anything about it. I evilly laughed to myself, covering my mouth to suppress the noise. Next, Weiss woke up. She eyed the dogs in a very confused manner. Weiss said nothing, got up, and went to the bathroom to shower. A little bit after that, I heard Ruby yawn, signaling her awakening. She removed the makeshift curtains to her bed and noticed the cute dogs on the ground. Her eyes went into stars. She seemed super happy. I had to stop her before she could mess it up. "Psst! Ruby!" She quickly turned to me curiously. I shook my head to her, signaling her to not mess with them. I whispered to her, "You can play with them later." She probably didn't even notice that it was a prank designed for Blake, but that didn't matter. She slowly nodded and went back into her little bed-cave.
It didn't take long for Blake to start to shift around in her bed, slowly waking up afterwards. Her head rose up into the air, her eyes still closed. Ruby then came back out from her curtains, hearing the feline friend wake up. Yang, Ruby, and I watched as she stretched her arms out, yawning in the process, opening her eyes to the sight of seven dogs in her vicinity. She immediately went wide-eyed and screamed, hastily pouncing to the top bunk where Yang was, startling the blonde a bit. I started laughing my ass off. The prank was perfect and it did exactly what I thought it would.
"You brought dogs to the room?!?!" She yelled, her eyes still focused on the dogs, her body shaking a bit in slight fear and aggression. Yang even giggled a bit at her reaction. She turned her head to me, giving me the evil eye. "Why? Why would you bring those things here?"
"Because that was the perfect prank for you. You're a cat Faunus, so I assumed you didn't care for dogs much, which gave me the idea to grab a couple from the Shelter downtown and bring them here to scare you. It looked to be a success, which means you're out of the game."
"Ugh...." She groaned. She thought a bit before coming to a sigh. Her mood became a bit lighter, knowing it was just for the prank. "Can you.. get them away from my bed at least.."
"Can I play with them now?" Ruby asked, almost begging me to let her play with the dogs.
"Yeah, go on ahead." I smiled to her. She gasped happily and jumped out of her bed onto the floor. The dogs all surrounded her with glee. Blake then went back down to her bed and got on her scroll.
"So, Yang. How was that?" I looked up to her as she sat on the top bunk, her legs dangling off the side.
"How did you even get all of this?" She asked me, curious on how I was able to grab seven dogs and bring them all the way to Beacon.
"I snuck out at about dawn and went down to Vale. There's a 24/7 animal shelter downtown."
"Aaaah, I get it. Jeez, you went through all that to prank Blake? That was pretty good."
"Yep. I tend to make my pranks spectacular, in a sense. If I'm gonna pull one, I'm going to make it really good."
"Looks like I gotta step up my game, then!" She pumped herself up.
"Who'll you be tackling next?" I had to ask. I knew she probably wasn't going to give me an answer, but it was worth a shot.
"That's a secret that only my team knows." She winked at me, not giving me any hints into what she was planning.
"Well, then. Guess I'll just wait and see what happens next." We all kept watching Ruby play with the dogs, trying to teach them new tricks and whatnot.
...
...
...
A couple hours later, I decided to take the dogs back so they could eat. The people who worked at the Shelter were very happy and thankful that I took care of them for that short time, as the dogs probably needed some good walking.
-Nora's POV, In the City of Vale-
I was walking with Pyrrha in Vale. She had a plan to prank Ren, and I was super excited to see what it was, as she really hasn't told me about it. As we strolled down the street, we noticed Y/n walk out of the 24/7 animal shelter.
"OH Y/N~!!!!!" I yelled loudly, calling to him while waving my arm in the air. He turned around, noticing us. He smiled and jogged over to us.
"Sup, ladies? What are you two doing in Vale?" When he got to us, his jog turned into a walk that matched our speeds.
"I had an idea of a trick to play on Ren, and I need Nora to help me with it." Pyrrha explained. "I've never really done something like this before, but it seemed fun, so I wanted to try my hand at it."
"That's good, that's good. Perfect. I do hope it goes well." He nodded, encouraging her. "What are you planning on doing?"
Pyrrha then leaned close to Y/n, whispering her plan in his ear. I tried leaning in a bit so I could hear, but unfortunately, I couldn't get anything. I watched as his eyes widened and a grin grew on his face.
"...And so I believe that will work." Pyrrha finished her explanation. "What do you think?"
"I think you're going to scar him." He laughed a bit. Pyrrha's smile then faded to a more concerned frown. "That was an exaggeration. The prank is perfect, Pyrrha." Her smile slowly returned.
"That's grand." She nodded, happy that her idea went well with him.
"And what were you doing in the animal shelter, Y/n?" I asked him. I then gasped at an idea I had. "Did you buy a pet??"
"Just returning some animals I had borrowed for a prank."
"Ooooooo What did you do?" I leaned forward a bit to see him while he was next to Pyrrha.
"I put like seven or so dogs in the room and scared the living hell out of Blake when she woke up." I immediately started laughing, while Pyrrha giggled lightly.
"That's crazy! You really went all out on her didn't you?"
"That's what I do." He shrugged with a smirk. "She's off the list for the other team. Weiss is down on ours though."
"Oh? What happened to Weiss?" Pyrrha looked to Y/n quizzically with a frown. I was also curious.
"Ruby put small fireworks under the toilet seat, the ones where they snap when you throw them really hard at the ground. So when Weiss sat down.... You get the idea."
"Oh goodness. Is she alright?"
"Oh she's fine. She was definitely startled, but she's fine."
"Wow, never woulda thought of that."
"Yeah, I was surprised at it too. Makes me think that Ruby has really good potential." He then looked at his scroll, checking the time. "Anyway... I gotta head back to campus. Hope to see you guys soon." He started running off. "Good Luck!!" He yelled back before we lost sight of him.
"So Pyrrha, are you gonna tell me what this idea you have is?"
"In a little bit, once we get to the place. I already have a bit of the trick done. Just need the rest of it."
"Okie dokie then." We walked down a couple more streets until we arrived at an electronics store. We walked in, both of us marveling at all the cool stuff. "What are we doing here?"
"Alright, I will tell you what the trick is going to be. We're picking up a couple small speakers that can have a recorded message repeated out loud. You'll record a couple things that would possibly trigger Ren. Then, we will hide them around the room. They are Scroll Activated, so I can control each of them from my Scroll. I'm going to use each noise to lead him to little places in the room and once he gets to the bathroom, there'll be a bucket of water waiting for him on top of the door." Pyrrha explained her entire prank to me. After thinking about it, I grew a wide grin.
"I think that's PERFECT! Ren won't get me out of his head after this! Teeheehee! Even though we're not.. together-together." I got a bit embarrassed saying that, but I quickly shook it off.
"Right..." Pyrrha went over and picked out the speakers and purchased them. On the way back to the school, we programmed and recorded my messages to Ren on the speakers before connecting them to her scroll. A different message for each speaker. Once we got back to campus, my nose started picking up something good. Really good. Like, deliciously good. I had to figure out what that smell was. I handed Pyrrha the bag of speakers. She turned to me in quizzical manner.
"I smell some really good food, I have to see what it is!" I started running towards the delectable smell.
"A-Alright then! I'll head back to the room! If he isn't there, I'll go ahead and set up the trick!" I heard her call out. I mentally acknowledged her, but kept running without saying anything back. I tracked the sent all the way to the cafeteria. Of course it had to be the cafeteria. What were they serving today? I looked at the time on my scroll as I ran, it was already past lunch hour, so the chefs couldn't have been making anything for dinner yet. So then what was that smell??? I kept running until I opened the doors to the mess hall, my eyes being met with a literal mountain of pancakes. I was stunned, absolutely shocked, baffled, amazed, awed. I couldn't think of anymore adjectives because I was just so struck by the glorifying sight. It was almost as if heaven was calling to me from this large mound of beautiful flapjacks. I looked around, left and right, to see who could have done this, but I was unable to detect anyone. It was silent. I then grinned, rubbing my hands together, walking closer and closer towards the tower of breakfast for lunch. I couldnt help myself. Suddenly I felt something wrap around my ankle. I looked down to see a rope tied to me. I then realized... I messed up big time. I was then hoisted into the air quickly, upside down. I screamed all the way to the ceiling where I stopped. I looked down at the pancakes and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a familiar face.
"REN!!!!! CAN YOU HELP ME DOWN?! SOMEONE TRAPPED ME WHEN I WAS TRYING TO GET PANCAKES!!" I yelled down to him. I immediately realized another thing. I quickly held my skirt so Ren couldnt see anything. "DON'T LOOK!"
"The one who trapped you was me!" He called up to me. "You have been fooled! Pranked, Rather!"
"WHAT?!" I couldn't hear a word he was saying. I watched him facepalm himself as he lowered me down with the rope. Once I landed on the ground he untied the rope from my ankle. "So... uh, what did you say? I couldn't hear you up there."
"I said I was the one who set the trap. You have successfully been fooled." Ren gave me a smile. I then realized I was pranked. I was so entranced by the sight of the gracious breakfast item that I didn't even think to check to see if it was a prank. DANGIT I LET Y/N DOWN! I sighed to myself but smiled quickly afterwards, scratching the back of my head.
"Jeez, Ren, I totally didn't see that coming. You knew exactly what my weakness was." I giggled.
"Well, I knew you were one for pancakes, so I used the cafeteria's kitchen to make as many as possible. I also knew you could probably smell it outside or from our open dorm window."
"That's definitely true." He didn't know I was out in Vale... He thought I was still on campus the whole time. That meant that Pyrrha's prank could still work on him, even if I was out of the war. She should be setting it up right now as a matter of fact. "So..." I looked over to the great group of gluten, licking my lips.
"Go ahead, Nora. I made them with the expectation that you were going to eat them."
"SAY NO MORE!" I then jumped in the pile and went at it.
...
-Pyrrha's POV, In JNPR's Dorm Room-
I had just finished placing the speakers around the room, in hidden places where Ren couldn't see them without having to look carefully. I then filled up a bucket of water and placed it above the bathroom door, cracking the door open a bit to keep it upright and stable. I sighed to myself with a job well done. All I had to do was wait for Ren to arrive. Suddenly, my scroll was receiving a call. I pulled it out and checked to see who it was, and much to my surprise, it was Nora. I answered her, wondering what she had to say.
"Hello, Nora." I greeted her.
"Hey Pyrrha!" I could hear her chewing on something in the background.
"Are you alright?" I asked, wondering what she was up to.
"Yeah, I'm fine. *Nom* I got pranked and I'm out of the war."
"What?! What happened, Nora?" I frowned a bit at Nora's defeat.
"Well... Ren lured me in with a massive load of pancakes *Munch* and got me with a rope around my ankle. I was raised all the way to the ceiling of the cafeteria."
"Oh my goodness." It surely surprised me to hear that.
"It's okay though. He let me down *Gulp* and now I'm chowing down."
"Alright then.. Ah, where is he now?"
"Oh! He's on his way back to the room. Is the thing *Chomp* set up yet?"
"Yes. It has been completed."
"Alright. Let me know if it *Burp* works out." She giggled before I heard the sound of her diving into something. I sighed and hung up, putting my scroll away. Well, all I had to do was wait for him.
...
...
It didn't take too awfully long, as it wasn't that long of a walk from the cafeteria to the dormitory. I was sitting on my bed, polishing my shield, when Ren came in the room, with a slight smile to his face.
"Greetings, Pyrrha."
"Hello to you, Ren. How are you?"
"I'm doing quite well. I was successfully able to fool Nora, and now she is out of Y/n's team. One step closer to defeating him. If I'm not mistaken, you are the last to his team, are you not?" After hearing him say this, I had realized that I was the only one left besides Y/n, the leader. It surprised me a little, but I regained my composure and answered him accordingly.
"I believe I am, yes."
"Then I believe... You need to watch your back."
"Oh, I will. I'm going to the arena to train a bit. I'll see you soon?" I got up from the bed and went over to the door.
"Surely. Good luck."
"Thank you." I left the room, closing the door behind me, seemingly going to the arena but actually staying in the hallway. I pulled out my scroll, checking on all of the speakers in all of the places I've put them. All I had to do was press one of the buttons and the corresponding speaker would sound off.
-Ren's POV-
While Pyrrha was out at the arena, I decided to rest as I felt it was deserved after a successful trick. I laid down in my bed, hoping to catch a quick nap...
...until...
"REN~!" My eyes opened as I heard Nora's voice. I didn't really know from where, as I wasn't really paying attention to it.
"Nora?" I called out to her in question, wondering if she was actually there. I really didn't think Nora would be so quick to eat all of those pancakes, but... it was Nora I suppose. Anything could really happen with her. I slowly sat up in my bed, calling out to her again. "Nora??"
"Ren! Over here! I think I locked myself in the closet again." I heard her muffled voice come from the closet.
"Really, Nora? Again? This is the fourth time this month." I got out of bed and walked over to the closet, opening the door to find no one there. I was confused. I.. Was probably just hearing things. I shook my head and went back to my bed.
"I'm under here, Ren~!" I heard her giggly voice from under her bed.
"Okay, maybe I'm not hearing things. Nora, what are you doing?" I asked her. There was no response. I groaned a bit, slightly frustrated by her antics. I got on my hands and knees and looked under her bed, only to find, of course, nothing. I was starting to get a little suspicious of something. "Nora, what is going on? Where are you?"
"Ren, can you help me with something? I'm in the bathroom." I looked towards the bathroom. The door was cracked so she must've gone in there. I remember closing the door since the last time I used the restroom. I didn't know about the rest of my team though. I walked to the door.
"Are you... okay in there?" I waited for a response. Though I wasn't expect-
"It's.....safe to come in." Her voice sounded a bit shy or embarrassed even. It caught me off guard a little. What caught me more off guard was that she actually answered back. All my suspicions were then blown into the wind. So she was in the bathroom the entire time, just messing with me a little. Well, if she needed help, then I was here to help her. I gently opened the door...
*SPLASH!!!*
*BANG!!!*
"Wah!!" I felt water splash onto my hair and my clothes, getting them both soaked. Then, a bucket landed right on my head, almost like a helmet. I couldn't believe I fell for that... Suddenly, the room door opened. I took the bucket off of my head and saw that it was a very giggly Pyrrha.
"I'm sorry for laughing, I know it's rude, but I really can't help myself."
"I'm going to assume you set this up?"
"Yes, I am the one who set this up, Nora helped me of course. I never knew doing this would be so much fun."
"Well, it is fun, until you're the one who gets pranked."
"I suppose so... Well, at least that's one down for the other team. And I believe that leaves Jaune, Ruby, and Yang to go."
"I'm.. going to get cleaned up..." I walked over to the bathroom door.
"And I'm going to go train in the arena, for real this time." I watched Pyrrha exit the room before I went to shower in defeat.
...
-Y/n's POV-
It was evening. I was in the dorm, reading, continuing the story about the man with two souls while sitting on my sleeping bag. For some reason, I couldn't put the book down. Not only was it a good read, but I swear it felt like it had some significance or something. The girls were all quietly doing their own things. Most of my day was spent dodging traps the other team had lain for me. Prank attempt after prank attempt. They wanted me to lose pretty badly. I haven't been able to go on the offensive, but I had a feeling I was going to tomorrow. I noticed that I had lost Nora, but in doing so, they lost Ren, Leaving only Pyrrha and I on my team, and Jaune, Ruby, and Yang on the other team. Knowing Yang, she and her team were probably planning to take out Pyrrha next, then me. That would only leave me versus the three of them, though that wouldn't be much of a problem. I knew what I was going to do them anyways. The pranks would be pretty simple in their structure, but still just a little outrageous. Ruby's would definitely have to take some thought process though. She may look child-minded, but she's smart. Thinking about that on its own gave me an idea. I had time to formulate it, as I would be aiming at Jaune first, rather than Ruby. Anyway, all of this didn't really matter in the end. I was born to win this war from the start.
...
-Jaune's POV-
I was sitting in the dorm room, trying to go over some things for tomorrow's classes. I was getting pretty bored. I wanted to try to prank someone but I didn't know if I had the courage or the skill to do so. It had to be either Y/n or Pyrrha. I glanced over to Ren, who was reading peacefully.
"Hey, uh, Ren?" He looked up from his book and over to me.
"Yes, Jaune?"
"Do you think I could prank Pyrrha?"
"You need my permission?" He asked me in a confused manner.
"No, no. That's not what I mean. Do you think I'm capable of doing it? Yang really wants me to be the one to take her out, so she could try to get at Y/n herself."
"I think so." He nodded in agreement.
"What would I do though? She seems like the person to see through things easily."
"She was at the arena for a good while and she said she's on her way back now, so you still possibly have time to set something up if you wish to, though I am unable to assist you in the process."
"I know, I know..." I sighed. "I just don't know what I'd do."
"Well, why don't you think about her specifically? What do you think you could do? What do you think she could fall for?" Ren gave me advice, careful not to help me too much and break the rules. This was a lot harder than I thought. I started to think hard about what to do. Pyrrha Nikos... Athletic... Strong.... Semblance is magnetism.... magnetism... It then struck me like Nora hitting something with her hammer.
"WAIT!!! REN, I HAVE AN IDEA!!!" I got super excited and a bit jumpy at the thought of a really good prank. He donned a small smile and nodded to me once more.
"That's good. I hope it works out for you." Afterwards, he went back to reading. I got up and got ready. I went over to my desk and grabbed as much glue as I could. I got out as many metal pots, pans, trays, and spoons that we used for cooking and put glue all over them before setting them around the room. I noticed that Ren was watching me through the process. I then quickly hid next to the door, close to the hinges so when the door opened, I would be hidden. After a few minutes, I heard a cute hum down the hallway that grew louder as it came closer. The door opened and Pyrrha came through, stopping abruptly a bit in front of the door. She had no idea I was behind her.
"Excuse me, Ren?" She looked around at all of the metal things.
"Yes?" He didn't look up from his book.
"Why are there... cooking utensils everywhere?"
I took the opportunity and went for it. I pushed the door away from me and jumped out, yelling as loud as I could.
"RAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!" I had my hands in a claw-like form.
"AAAAAAH!" Pyrrha jumped and screamed at the sudden scare. Then, every metal item I had placed immediately came straight at her, sticking to her body on contact. Ren and I started laughing, seeing Pyrrha covered in all of that metal cookware. "Wha-wha-what's going on? What happened?" She frantically looked around in confusion.
"Hate to say it Pyrrha, but Jaune fooled you quite well."
"What???" She then frowned. "Seems I'm out of the battle."
"Sorry, Pyrrha." I scratched the back of my head with a slight laugh. "Yang is really wanting us to win, so I was tasked with taking you out and this was the only thing I had in mind, just recently actually."
"Well, I believe it was a pretty good trick, considering my semblance." She giggled. "Is.. this.. glue?? My semblance has been off for a bit and the items haven't fallen."
"Yeah it is, though you can take a shower and it'll come right off." I explained to her.
"Oh thank goodness. I was hoping it wasn't superglue." She laughed to herself before going into the bathroom to take a shower. During that shower, we heard metal thuds and tinks hit the shower floor. I sent a message to Yang, saying that Pyrrha was out and that Y/n was the only one left. She gave me a thumbs up and congratulated me on my victory.
-Y/n's POV, The Next Day-
I was notified by Yang that I was the only one left on my team. She gave me the option to surrender, but I declined it of course. The battle isn't over until the king, or the last man falls, and I sure as hell wasn't gonna fall. I had myself ready for class, and myself ready for pranking Jaune. I was on my way to class with my team, the prank hidden in my bag. Jaune had no clue what was coming to him. Taking out my last teammate had definitely gotten me to a point where I couldn't give him any mercy. I knew his class schedule, and he had no time between classes to go back to his room for something, and today was his heaviest class-load. I smirked to myself. I was about to embarrass the shit out of him. Best part was, I sat next to the dude.
Once we got to class, I sat down and quickly got to work on setting the thing up, as he hasn't arrived yet. Other students were talking amongst themselves, general chatter. I pulled out a self-inflating whoopie cushion from my bag and some superglue. The teacher wasn't even in the classroom yet either, so it was perfect. My teammates all looked at me with confused and concerned eyes, especially Yang and Ruby. I looked over to them.
"You honestly think I'm giving up since I'm the last guy on my team? Pssh, If I go down, I go down swinging."
"Are you sure about that?" Weiss asked. "Cause that's just going to disrupt class whenever he sits down."
"That's going to be super embarrassing for him." Blake spoke up as well about it.
"Oh, I'm well aware. Best part is, he has back-to-back classes most of the day." Yang leaned forwards in her chair to look at me. She was a bit shocked at what I was planning.
"You wouldn't...." She said with both a bit of enthusiasm and worry. "I know this is going to be really good, but don't you think this is a bit overkill, especially with the superglue?"
"Overkill? Please, Yang. This is nothing. I could do much worse to him." I started to pour superglue over the bottom of the whoopie cushion. It had to be the bottom, because the top had the hole that made the thing inflate itself back up after being used. The thing would inflate as he stood up and deflate once he sat down, rinse and repeat for all of his classes. The glue was then capped up. I watched her think about it before speaking again with a nod.
"I think I can believe you there." She acknowledged. Then, team JNPR walked into the room, all with smiles. I quickly put the whoopie cushion to my other side so Jaune couldnt see it while also shoving the glue in my bag.
"Hey guys." I greeted them with joy. They all waded their way into the line of seats, and once Jaune got next to me, I quickly put my trap down below him. It felt like time slowed down for me as he sat down, unknowing of his fate. He then took a seat and... what came next could only be explained by the sheer silence that came afterwards. The rip was loud, it was clean, it was crisp. The sound couldn't have been any better. The perfect form of the room helped the sound echo and reverberate. The classroom went dead silent. I saw Jaune's face go from its usual color, to a bright pinkish-red. He slowly turned his head over to me with a look of fear. I had a smug look. "Jeez, Jaune. What did you eat this morning?"
Yang, Ruby, and I started laughing together, Nora too. Some of the other students also picked up the laughter as well. Jaune regained his composure and became slightly frustrated at his loss.
"Ha. Ha. Very funny. I can't believe you just got me with a whoopie cushion." He said, standing up. The students began talking amongst themselves again, not really paying attention to Jaune's predicament.
"Ah.. That's not all, Jaune. There's more."
He reached at the seat to try to grab the cushion, but it wasn't there. He grew a confused look before looking down at the seat, not seeing a whoopie cushion. "I.. could of sworn I sat on one, right?"
"Uhm Jaune?" Pyrrha got his attention.
"What?" He stopped to glance over to Pyrrha.
"It's... attached to your..." The warrior redhead started to say until,
"HAHA! IT'S STUCK TO YOUR BUTT!!" Nora yelled out, pointing at Jaune, laughing on her own pretty hard, which caused Yang, Ruby, and I to start snickering again, but quietly. Weiss and Blake just rolled their eyes in annoyance.
"What?! Aw man!" He tried many ways of pulling it off, to no avail though. "What is this stuff? Why is it not coming off?"
I pulled out my superglue from my bag and shook it around, taunting him a little. He got a bit irritated.
"But I have three more classes right after this one. What am I going to do?"
"Looks like Y/n's prank is gonna take a while to wear off." Yang chuckled a bit.
"Ugh." He sighed, defeated. He then sat down again, letting out another loud rip, causing several people to laugh. That was one out on Yang's team. Only two left, the sisters. This was about to get a little more challenging.
Jaune then went on for each of his classes, having to deal with the whoopie cushion on his ass.
...
...
...
Later in the evening, I arrived at the room, though no one was there. They were probably at the mess hall. I had Ruby's prank in my head and all I had to do was grab the items and play the waiting game. I had to think about Yang's prank more so. I knew what I was going to do, but I had no clue how I was going to deliver or execute it. It was going to be the classic pie in the face, a perfect way to end the war. The problem was, I wanted it to be spectacular and I wanted everyone to see it, rather than it just being done anywhere in secret.
I kept thinking for a bit until a couple ideas came to my head. One in particular struck me a bit more than the others. Tomorrow's class was Glynda's, which was about sparring against people, training for the Vytal Festival. Maybe I could use the pie sometime during then, when everyone was watching. I just needed to figure out how to hide it, and also make sure that Yang and I spar together. I pushed the thought aside before deciding to head back out of the room and down into the town of Vale for some items to help me with pranking Ruby.
...
...
...
The time soon grew to the middle of the night. It was the ripe time to do what needed to be done. I had just gotten back to campus from a evening/night out in the town, just to myself. I had the items I needed and I was ready. I slowly snuck through the hallway of the dorm building, heading towards the room. I was wearing a blackish-grey stealth/sneaking suit, something to dampen my footsteps and noises as well as keep myself hidden in the shadows, though it was fairly dark anyway. I was also wearing a pair of trinocular night vision goggles, so I could see easily in the dark. I had my secret weapon in my holster on my side, though it wasn't Trailblazer. I arrived at the room. I crouched and put a little glass slab at the ground, reflecting a little of what was on the other side of the door. There was no movement, everyone seemed asleep. I nodded to myself before using my scroll to unlock the door. I then slowly turned the knob and opened the door, hoping it wouldn't creek. Luck was on my side as it didn't make a noise. I swung the door open and once inside, I closed it shut, keeping the knob turned with my other hand so it wouldn't click in once it closed all the way. Moving away from the door, I looked over to each of their beds to see if anyone was awake...no movement, perfect. I slowly tiptoed my way over to the bookshelf in front of the window and climbed up, shimmying close to Ruby's bed area.
I had to make super sure that no one was awake, cause if they were to catch me, 1. My prank would fail, and 2. They could accuse me of much worse than just 'pranking' Ruby, which was something I definitely didn't want. Now to pull this off, I had to have even more luck on my side. She had to be facing my direction. I gulped and slowly lifted up the makeshift curtain to her bed-cave and saw that she was indeed facing me. She snored softly in her sleep, but that was going to soon become a panic once she got up in the morning. I snickered to myself.
"It's almost too easy." I whispered under my breath quietly. I used my other arm to grab the secret weapon out of my holster. It was none other than a black marker. I was kinda surprised I haven't done this to any of my teammates already. She had no clue what was coming for her. I kept my balance and uncapped the marker with my mouth before reaching over to her face. I then began to doodle, drawing a monocle, a mustache, some wrinkle lines on her forehead. Those were the classics of course. The possibilities were endless on what I could draw on her face, but I kept it simple and drew a couple stars and squiggles. Once I finished, I capped the marker, lowering the bedsheet and letting her sleep. I slowly and quietly hopped off of the bookshelf and made my way to my stuff. I grabbed some PJ's and went into the bathroom to change. Afterwards, I went to my sleeping bag, put away my sneaking outfit, and passed out, smiling about my upcoming victory against Ruby Rose.

-Morning, Y/n's POV-
Morning came, and it came quick. Guess that's what I deserved for staying up to do that prank. I was the first awake, but luckily I didn't have to wait long. The girls' alarm clocks went off one by one, all of them slowly waking up. Everyone raised up and stretched.
"Morning girls." I greeted them, opening the window curtains to let in the morning light.
"Mmmmm..morning."
"Shhhhh...Not so loud."
"Time to rise and shine...."
Ruby didn't say anything, she just yawned and lifted up her curtain. Yang and I looked over at the younger girl. I started snickering, which turned into a laugh. I completely forgot what I actually drew on her face last night, but it was too good. She looked like an old timey man with a monocle and a mustache that just got out of a sleepover with a bunch of girls. There were a bunch of squiggles and swirls and a fake scar over her other eye, some wrinkles over her forehead. It was a priceless sight.
"Ruby, what's that on your face?" Yang asked her sister curiously, giggling a bit.
"There's something on my face?" She felt around her face to find nothing. "I don't feel anything."
Weiss then got out of bed and looked up at Ruby. She then started to snicker as well, which also turned into a laugh. "Oh this is too funny."
Blake didn't really pay much attention to the matter, she was still trying to wake up. Ruby hopped down from her bed and went into the bathroom.
"Ahh!! My face has been vandalized by a marker!" She yelled. I couldn't help but laugh harder.
"Did you seriously just draw on Ruby's face while she was asleep?" I was a bit worried that Yang would get pissed after figuring out what I did during the night. "Jeez, that's good at least. I was afraid you were gonna do something far worse to her." She sighed, relieved. I felt relieved myself that she didn't get mad.
"Hey, I could have done something worse, and I was bound to draw on someone's face sooner or later, so I decided that there wouldn't be a better time to do it than now."
"I should've thought of that; I coulda got you first. I'm just glad you didn't draw anything bad on her face." She shrugged.
"Yeah, I wouldn't do that. That's just mean." Ruby then walked back into the room with a small frown. "Don't be sad Ruby, the marker will come out in a couple days."
"That's not why I'm sad. I'm sad because I'm out of the war." She hung her head down. I felt bad for her, but at the same time, I really didn't. It was war and she needed to be brought down.
"Don't worry about it. Yang'll be out soon, probably today at some point. Then, the war will be over." I grew a cheeky grin. Ruby lightened up a little.
"Ugh..." Weiss groaned. "Thank goodness. I'm really getting tired of all this."
"And I know exactly how I'm going to beat you, too." My gaze turned from Ruby to her older sister. "It's gonna be one of the most classic pranks in the book."
Yang grinned as well. "I'll be waiting for it."
"Anyway...." I looked at all the girls before bolting into the bathroom as fast as I could. "Dibs on the first shower!!" I quickly closed and locked the door behind me.
"What?!"
"Oh shoot!!!"
"Noooooo!" Weiss, Ruby, and Yang started banging on the door, pleading me to come out and let one of them go first, but I didn't care. Blake put her pillow over her head to block out the noise.
...
Throughout my time showering, I thought about how I was going to execute Yang's prank. It was going to be the classic pie in the face. I couldn't just hide behind a corner and wait for her, nor do it directly with her knowing, she would likely dodge or find a way out of it. Then it hit me, I forgot that this afternoon, we had Glynda's class, which meant mock battles between students. I had to make sure I brought the pie to class and get Yang to fight against me.
...
...
Several hours had passed and I had finally got the pies I needed. I got two because there was a two-for-one sale and I couldn't not take advantage of it. I put the other one in the room for later. It was time for Glynda's class. I did get a couple strange looks as I went, but I didn't really care. The goal was in sight. I was the first one in the arena. Glynda was also there too, in the center of the arena messing around with a tablet. I then took my seat, putting the pie in my lap, hiding it from her view. The professor looked up at me before speaking.
"Mr. L/n, It's good to see you're here early."
"Well, I thought it would be a good idea to arrive before class. I wanna mentally prepare myself to fight someone today if it comes down to it." I lied to her as easily as I could breathe air and blink.
"That's good. Would you like to volunteer to go first?" She offered. This was perfect, but... that didn't help me with my case against Yang specifically.
"Sure, but only if I get to pick my opponent." I crossed my arms.
"That is fine. Remember that opponents have the option to decline."
"Luckily, the opponent I'm wanting won't have to. She'll gladly join me in a fight."
"Alright then." She went back to her meddling of the tablet. I sat and waited for people to come in.
A couple minutes later, and students started pouring in. I noticed CRDL and JNPR, but no RWBY. I leaned over to Jaune. "Hey.. uh... do you know where my team is?"
"Yeah, they're on their way."
"Good."
Another couple of minutes passed and I saw Team RWBY enter the room. Ruby first, followed by Weiss, followed by Blake, then followed by.... Wait..... Why did Yang have a pie too?
I was a little shocked to see that Yang brought a pie just like mine to class. She must've had the same idea as me somehow. That both complicated things and simplified things at the same time. They all sat next to me in the stands.
"Everyone present? Alright, let the class begin. Now Y/n will be our first challenger as he volunteered to do so before class. He will be choosing his opponent." She looked over to me and waited. I was then hit with an idea. I could just fight Yang and have the pies be a part of it. This would be perfect. the only downside would be that she had the equal chance to pie me as well. I sighed.
"Yang Xiao Long."
"And do you accept?" She turned over to Yang.
"Heck yeah I do!" She shouted happily and with great confidence.
"Go grab your weapons and come down to the arena." We both put our pies down in our chairs and went off to the locker room to grab our weapons. On the way, I couldn't help but strike up the needed conversation.
"You brought a pie too? I'm assuming you had the same idea as me?"
"Yep. Been planning it for a while, actually. I thought that a pie to the face would be the perfect end to all this."
"I couldn't agree more, Yang." We entered into the locker room and opened our lockers, grabbing our weapons from inside. I hugged Trailblazer tightly, not even caring if it cut me at all. "Oh how I've missed you."
"You're starting to sound like my sister." She grabbed her Ember Celica with a laugh.
"Well, I do like my weapon a lot." I closed the locker door and put the sword on my back. "So.. what flavor is your pie?"
"Strawberry. Ruby gave me the idea that I should get a strawberry one. What's yours?"
"Banana Cream. They had a two for one sale at the store, so I got two of them, one to eat later and one for now to use on you."
"Oh, I see. Speaking of now, how do you wanna do this? We both wanna pie each other, but we both gotta fight." She shrugged in question.
"I was thinking we both bring our pies to the fight and ask the teacher to....change the rules a bit." I winked at her. She grew a grin.
"Okay, okay, whatcha thinking?"
"We tell her that instead of losing by Aura depletion, first person to get pied loses. If she agrees, we put the pies in the center and duke it out normally and use the pies when we need to."
"That sounds perfect!" She slammed her fists together. "Been wanting to fight you for a while. I wanna see what you're made of."
"I'm pretty excited myself. Let's head on." We both then walked back to the arena. We then went up into the stands and grabbed our pies before walking down to the battle area. Glynda and the other students, besides our teams, looked at us in a very confused manner.
"Uh.. What's with the pies??" She asked. "Please put those back at your seats."
"No, no, wait. Listen...." She crossed her arms, slightly irritated. "Yang and I have this prank war going on and we want to use these pies during this fight. We would like you to change the rules a bit. Please? Pretty please???" I begged. She thought a sec before groaning in annoyance, rolling her eyes while pulling up her tablet.
"That is unbelievably unprofessional...." She paused a moment. "But I suppose Ozpin would have me allow it just this once."
"First one with a pie to the face loses." I nodded to her. I turned over to Yang and handed her my pie. "Here, put those at the center of the ring next to each other."
"I gotcha!" She walked over and placed the pies in the middle of the arena before going and standing on her side of the battle area. Glynda was tapping away at her tablet, setting things up. I could hear the quizzical mumbling of the other students in the stands.
"The match is ready."
"Sweet! Thanks, Teach!" I ran over to my side and got ready.
"Alright, class! This match will be between Yang Xiao Long and Y/n L/n! Due to recent.... events.... The rules for this match will be slightly altered! Rather than have Aura levels be the defining factor of this fight, it will be...." She sighed heavily. "A... pie... to the face..."
The students started to smile and cheer a bit as it was a totally different fight than usual. They were getting pretty hyped up.
"This is gonna be so cool!" One student said.
"Heck yeah! I wonder who'll get pied first. Who are you thinking, dude?" Another one turned to his friend in question.
"I dunno. I think Yang's gonna get it first."
"What? I think Y/n's gonna get hit first. Have you seen Yang fight? She's amazing!"
I looked over at Yang with steady and ready eyes as I pulled out Trailblazer, getting in my battle stance. "You ready firecracker? I'm giving it all I got."
"Ready as I'll ever be, tiger!" She winked and got in her battle stance, firing up her weapon as well.
"Very well then. The match will start in 3......2....1..... BEGIN!" Glynda signaled the beginning of the battle. Yang and I ran at each other, her going for a punch and I going for a swing of my sword. We both clashed at the center, just above the pies. I could tell we weren't going to go for them yet. We were going to have a good fight, as that's what she wanted, and to be honest, I wanted one too. It was a short stalemate, the two of us pushing our weapons against each other, trying to gain the advantage. She started pushing me back a bit, as she was definitely stronger than me. I grimaced and quickly cranked the handle to Trailblazer twice, letting the exceed to go to level 2, overpowering her strength.
"Woah!!" The sheer force propelled Yang back to the edge of the arena. Due to the excess momentum of the swing, my sword slammed into the ground in between the pies, shallowly cratering the arena, and causing the treats to jump in the air. The pies then landed back on the floor unscathed.
With the exceed burnt out, I picked up Trailblazer and got ready again. "Jeez, that thing really packs a punch." Yang giggled.
"Heh, only when I want it too." We ran at each other again. I went for a slash, only for the blonde to quickly sidestep and punch me right in the jaw, then subsequently punched me again, then again, then again. I was caught in her punching spree. I took a couple more before finding the right timing to dodge and jump away to get my bearings. "You hit pretty hard too." I said to her.
Suddenly, as I was recovering from the spree, I watched as Yang's fist came right at me, and quickly. "Holy crap!" I bent myself backwards and teetered towards the left to dodge the punch as she went past me. I had to put my hand on the ground behind me to keep myself from falling. As I stood back up, I felt another punch coming from behind, so I put my sword where my back was to block the incoming attack. I twisted the handle of Trailblazer twice before swiftly turning around and swinging upwards at Yang, catching her off guard. She was knocked high into the air, but recovered quickly and spun around, creating her own momentum. I ran away as she came down, punching the ground, causing another shallow crater with a small explosion. The pies flew in the air again, landing on their bottoms, not disturbing them. I ran at her as she was still getting up from punching the floor. I went for an attack. She quickly punched me in the gut, causing me to lose a bit of air. Yang punched me right in the face, then in the arm, disarming me of my weapon before kicking it a bit away from me. The crowd cheered at our fight so far, some cheering for me, while others were cheering for Yang.
"Damnit!"
"Ha, I'm not letting you win that easily. Now you're in my territory." She grinned. She started bobbing and weaving left and right, mimicking a professional boxer, her arms and fists guarding her face. "Try keeping up!"
She lunged forwards with a jab, which connected to my face. She threw another right cross. I attempted to dodge, but was unable to, getting punched again in the process. As she pulled her arm back. I went for a full punch to catch her off, but it couldn't connect. She dodged it smoothly. I grit my teeth and growled, throwing more synchronous punches. She was capable of dodging each of them, getting closer and closer to me. She then got right up to my face and sported a cute smile with a wink before punching me in the side of the head, knocking me away from her. I slid on the ground over to my weapon. I slowly got up, shaking the dizziness from my head while also ignoring Trailblazer. "Seems punching you isn't working." I muttered to myself. "Time to improvise."
She was getting closer, doing the same thing she was previously, bobbing and weaving left and right, bouncing up and down a bit to keep herself moving. "If punches wont work, then I have a feeling I know what will." I whispered to myself again. I put my hands up in a similar position to Yang's, but my fists were open rather than clenched and I was more still and ready. I was lucky that my father had taught me a little hand to hand combat as it was going to help me. We circled each other slowly before Yang decided to take the first chance to attack. She ran in and threw a good punch. I smacked her fist out of the way, parrying it. She tried again with her other arm, but the same result occurred. It was my turn. I grinned and stepped forwards and went for a punch. Yang quickly put up her guard, but I faked out and stepped on her foot, lowering her guard. I punched her in the gut, causing her to slump over a bit. I then stomped on the handle of my weapon, grabbing it on the way up. I revved the sword up and smacked her in the side with it, causing her to get knocked away similarly to the way she did to me previously. *BANG* I heard a loud noise and looked at my feet to see a tiny crater. *BANG* I started dodging shots thrown by Yang's weapon. They were explosive rounds, so they totally packed some good damage. She kept shooting at me from afar. I sliced some of the shots I couldn't evade, slowly making my way over to her.
"Long range is kinda cringe!" I lunged at her, going for an over head strike.
"I couldn't agree more!" She used her gauntlets to block the attack. I took the advantage to knee her in the stomach again and punch her skyward.
"Time to finish this." I twisted the handle to Trailblazer three times and jumped into the air along side Yang. I then spun around and smacked the blade into her side, causing her to slam into the ground very fast and very hard, making a slightly larger crater than the previous ones. She stopped moving, must've knocked her out. "Seems I've won this." I started my walk over to the pies. I was going to pie her right then and there while she was unconscious. Right as I bent down to pick it up, I heard movement and a bit of grunts. I turned around to see her body in some fiery aura. She had a very serious and angry look and her eyes were red. Her hair seemed to be glowing a fiery blaze, one that I probably couldn't even stop.
She
was
PISSED
The crowd got more rowdy and some even somehow had popcorn and drinks. They were cheering loudly. Ruby looked like she was a bit worried, couldn't tell if it was for Yang being mad, or my own safety. She put her arms back and shot from her weapons with a yell, propelling herself forwards towards me in a fit of rage. Yang started swinging wildly at me, shooting from her weapons at the same time to increase firepower and damage. I blocked with my swords and dodged when I needed to. I was at max focus, making sure I didn't get hit by her, as I knew my aura was really low. I grimaced and started to become more offensive and aggressive. I attacked at the same time she attacked and we started parrying each other back and forth. I was taking a couple hits while she took a couple. We then socked each other in the face, both of us getting pushed to opposite sides of the arena. Yang and I ran as fast as we could to the center. Yang reached to grabbed a pie while I went for a punch. My eyes widened as I grimaced once more and put as much effort as I could into dodging. I dodged the pie luckily and was able to grab the other pie that was on the ground. Yang and I then both spun around and we went for it.
*SPLAT!*
We were both pied right in the face, at the same time. Her face was drenched in the strawberry pie she bought, and mine with my own pie. The crowd went silent for several seconds. We stepped back a bit, the tins of the pies falling off of our faces. After wiping our eyes, I had noticed that Yang's pretty lilac eyes returned to her as she had calmed down. The crowd cheered loudly to the end of our battle. Seemed it was a draw. We both looked at each other before laughing our asses off.
"Jeez I can't believe we got each other!" She chuckled holding her stomach.
"Yeah I know right? I'm even more shocked on how serious the bout got! You were insane! You're really freaking strong."
"Right back atcha, tiger. You were way stronger than I thought. I had a lot of fun with that."
"Shame we had a draw there, I was hoping to get the win."
"Ah well, I think it turned out great, probably the best ending the war coulda had." She put her hands on her hips with a grin.
"Definitely the tastiest ending to a war." I chuckled.
"Okay, that was a good one." She laughed along. "Thanks for not getting the pie in my hair by the way... aaaand speaking of taste..." She then took her finger and ran it down my cheek, scraping off some of the pie before putting it in her mouth. "Mmmmm.. That's a really good pie you picked out. I'm glad you bought two of them, I can have some later." Thank goodness I still had a lot of pie on my face to hide my slight blush from what she did. I then recuperated myself and found confidence to do the same.
"Hmm. Lemme try." I did the same to her as well, partaking a bit of the strawberry pie. "The pie Ruby picked out is pretty good too."
"The match has concluded! The result is a draw between Yang Xiao Long and Y/n L/n!" The students cheered more, happy for the outcome of the match. "You two may go and wash up and put your weapons away."
We nodded and went to the bathrooms to wash our faces off.
Afterwards, we both went to the locker rooms to put away our weapons.
"Man that was a fun fight, haven't had a battle like that in a good while." Yang stretched her arms a bit after closing her locker.
"That was a really good fight, took a lot out of me. I really enjoyed it. Still can't believe it got so heated in the second half."
"Yeah, sorry about that. I got a little ticked." She scratched the back of her head with a light giggle.
"Yea....So... care to explain that uh, fit of rage you had?" I closed my own locker and looked over to her.
"Oh, that's my semblance, Burn. I'm able to take a bunch of hits and use the damage to become more powerful and hit stronger and faster."
"Dang, that's really cool. What's the deal with the eyes and the hair, that part of it?"
"Yeah, It's kind of a side-effect. Sometimes when I get angry, it activates too."
"Ah okay, that makes some sense."
"What's yours? I don't think you've ever explained it to me." She asked, curious about what I could do.
"Ah, I don't really have a name for it yet, but I can augment fire."
"Woah you can create fire and mess around with it?" She got a bit excited.
"No no no. I can't create it, I can control it. I can increase and decrease the intensity and size of fire, even put it out and relight it, but I can't create the fire from scratch. The fire has to already be burning."
"Ohh okay, That's really cool. It can really help you with your weapon as it uses the fire to add more force to your attacks."
"I know right. It's super helpful, one of the reasons I made the weapon was because of my semblance. Anyway, Let's head back, shall we? I don't wanna miss class. Glynda will have our hides if we don't show up soon."
"You're right. I don't wanna get on her bad side." We both giggled and went back to the arena to finish out the class.
...
...
After class ended, team RWBY and I went back to the room to relax. I laid down on my sleeping bag, holding my scroll up in the air, reading some messages. I was happy that Glynda's class was the only thing we had today as it did take a lot out on students sometimes.
"Well, I guess the war's over, huh?" Ruby said, hopping into her bed in her PJ's. Most of us had already gotten into our comfy loungewear since we had nothing to do for the rest of the day.
"Yep, and I couldn't think of a better way for it to have ended, Ruby."
"Yeah, I got to pie Y/n..." Yang laughed.
"...And I still have my reputation as the Prank Master."
"I'm just glad all this is over." Weiss scoffed. "This entire thing was getting annoying, day one."
"You're just mad cause you were the first one who got out, by Ruby too." Yang pointed out.
"Yeah, kinda lame, Weiss." I said to her.
"Who are you calling lame?" Weiss turned her attention to me.
"Jeez, sorry, sorry." I put my scroll down and surrendered my hands in the air before putting them back down.
"You know, Yang. You're lucky I didn't go for my other prank idea."
"What other prank idea? You had another way of pranking me?"
"Yeah, but I thought it would be a little too much. I think I value my life a little more than pulling off the best prank."
"Couldn't be that bad. What was it?" She asked me.
"I woulda put purple hair dye in your shampoo." Suddenly, her happy mood almost turned into a look of both fear and lividness. I could hear Ruby chuckling in her little bed cave.
"You wouldn't have dared to do that." Her voice was serious.
"Yeah, I decided against it cause I didn't wanna ruin that pretty hair of yours. Plus, I value my life very much and I knew you would have probably killed me."
"You bet I would've, two times over. I love my hair." She giggled a little as her serious mood turned into a more jokey one.
"That would be against the rules anyway. Her hair is super personal to her." Ruby mentioned.
"You're right about that, sis."
"Thanks for taking part in the war, guys. I had so much fun."
"I had a lot of fun too!"
"I guess it wasn't all bad..." Weiss averted her eyes from the rest of us.
"Agreed."
"Maybe we'll do it again sometime." I stared at the ceiling in thought. I was able to spend time with my team and the other team; but most of all, I was able to spend a bit of time with Yang, and I was happy about that. The next semester was coming soon and I was excited to spend even more time with my friends and further increase my ability to fight and learn about the world.
After everything that's happened during the past couple days, there was one thing still plaguing my mind...
...
...
...
"Wasn't I supposed to be studying for something?"
