Fact 12
12 - In seeking their own nation, the Buri would fly several flags, most of them based on the one above, around their territories in addition to scent markers. However, before the establishment of a Buri nation, these were not standardized. The flag above is a common tricolor.
--
The most common variant of the Buri flag features two crescents, meant to represent the lunar phases. This one was often considered "official" however, because like the base tricolor, it emphasizes a feature common to most Buri - yellow eyes.
--
This variant of the flag was most commonly used by the more intensely nationalist Buri, and was often seen if they were to stage an attack on a human settlement in their claimed territory. It is still commonly seen in some places.
--
With some Buri alarmed by the presence of fascist symbolism in their territorial markers, they decided they would counterbalance it with a leftist flag, in hopes of not being perceived along the same ranks of European fascists. While it did distract people from thinking the Buri were fascists, this was not so much due to the leftist symbolism as it was confusion about the star's placement (the star is left of the center to indicate that Buri were also "left." This design did not catch on.)
--
The most recent Buri flag, the arrow is meant to represent eternal progress, "upwards and forwards."
