"CHANGE"

CHANGE: become different; Lorelei Black woke up from another confusing dream, it wasn't necessarily scarring, or upsetting or nasty in any way — it was just sad, that was the predominant feeling of that dream along with this weird feeling of nothingness, no sadness, no regret, no anger, just nothingness and then Lorelei had woken up and she was back to the regular her. She was exhausted though, it was like she'd lived that dream instead of just watching it — she asked herself about it again, was her dead uncle Regulus trying to tell her something?

Lorelei shook that thought out of her head and noticed that Harleen was already up and hard at work, she'd been reading some muggle psychology book for around three or four days and it didn't look like she was stopping any time soon, Lorelei didn't get why anyone would want to read about how people feel about things affects their personality — who would? It's just feelings and feelings are icky.

Lorelei ruffled Harleen's hair before walking out of the dorm room and made her way down to the Great Hall for breakfast, and for some reason as soon as she arrived something felt...missing. Lorelei picked up a piece of toast, and then she realized — George was missing, she looked around everywhere, but the redhead or any of his siblings were nowhere to be found along with Harry and Birdie. Lorelei then looked around for Hope, and saw her in a corner talking to Regan who was as far away from the table as she could possibly be and still hear the sound of the older girl's voice.

Lorelei frowned, so she can talk to Hope, but not her own sister, whatever, she shouldn't be thinking about that right now. Lorelei got up and her plate full of food laid forgotten on the Ravenclaw table as she made her way to the Gryffindor girl, Regan nodded at the older girl and passed her a small smile which immediately disappeared once she saw her cousin making her up to where she was and walked back to the Slytherin table joining her friend.

"Oh, hey, El" Angelina greeted the Ravenclaw with a polite smile and Lorelei returned it quickly not wanting to be held up, but the Quidditch captain had other plans, "If you're looking for George — he's not here, in fact none of the Weasley siblings are"

"I was looking for them" Lorelei paused and Angelina passed a knowing look to Katie, "Do you, by any chance, know where they are?"

"No" Angelina shook her head, "All George said was that they had to leave immediately because of some kind of family emergency"

"George told you?" Lorelei asked in somewhat a hollow voice not realizing she'd done so, and Angelina nodded with a confused expression, Lorelei passed her one last smile before making her way up to Hope to see if she knew something more, "Lupin, spill it" she sat down next to the brunette who had a chocolate croissant on her plate.

"So, Harry kind of had another one of his vision things, and we didn't think it was serious at first and thought it was just another dream but then Neville told me that Harry had puked when he woke up and had a huge ache in his forehead where the scar is so when Neville came down to call Professor McGonagall I was up doing my potions essay and I went with him" Hope took a huge breath before continuing, "Harry went to Dumbledore's office where he asked for his sister and then Birdie went there too and turns out that it was actually not just a dream and a vision, and so in short — Mr Weasley was attacked by a snake and Harry prevented it from going too bad"

Lorelei's eyes widened at the end of the story, and she looked at Hope as she tried to process things, "Well, is Mr Weasley ok?"

"I haven't gotten a word from anyone yet" Hope said and as if on cue an owl landed on the table and without even properly waiting for Hope to untie the letter from its leg it started pecking on the hash browns happily.

Everything's ok. He's fine.
— R.E.P

Lorelei recognized Birdie's handwriting and knew that she probably wrote down her initials with her real name instead of her nickname to keep things as private as possible just in case Umbitch decided to check the letters again.

🫐

LORELEI STEPPED ON THE FAMILIAR PLATFORM GROUND. She could make out her mum's figure from a few steps away and an involuntary smile made its way on her face — it was the first time one of her parents was picking her up from the platform, she practically ran towards her mother and embraced the older woman who wrapped her arms around her daughter as an 'oomf' left her mouth because of the sudden hug, "Hey, kiddo, miss me?"

"Obviously" Lorelei grinned and Neveah ruffled her hair, she looked around and saw her aunt and uncle watching her, Andrew waved excitedly at the younger girl as Sirene deflated as she watched her niece catch up with her mum.

"Ren, what's wrong?" Andrew asked his wife with a frown and his brows connected with confusion.

"She ran to her," Sirene spoke in a small voice her gaze still fixed on the mother-daughter pair, "she used to run to me"

Andrew chuckled pulling her into his side, "Honey, she's just experiencing this stuff for the first time, doesn't mean she's going to forget about us, besides we've still got the little one" he kissed the side of her head, "And for the record — she used to run to me not you"

Sirene smacked him on the side of his arm, "Why did I ever marry you, annoying piece of shit?" she said jokingly rolling his eyes.

"Ouch, I'm hurt" Andrew feigned a look of hurt on his face and clutched his heart, "You're just as mean as you were at the age of twelve"

"Like you've got room to speak, Bird Boy" Sirene teased him and watched him go a little red in the face.

"Oh, my Rowena" he said with an exasperated tone, "Let it go, woman, I was twelve"

The two watched Regan step down from the train with someone who wasn't her friend as far as they know, she hadn't told them she'd made a new friend, and by the looks of it their daughter had changed more than they had thought she would — like the enormous amount of eyeliner or the scowl on her face along with that leather jacket — what happened to their sophisticated little kid who couldn't even walk without dressing up like a little librarian.

Andrew and Sirene passed each other a look.

"I really hope she's not going through her Sirene-in-sixth-year-phase" Andrew spoke in a quiet voice, and Sirene frowned from beside him.

"I wasn't that bad"

"You were a nightmare" Andrew told her.

Sirene shook her head at her husband as she waited for her daughter to run up to her and hug her, but Regan did no such thing, she simply greeted her parents with a smile and walked away from them only to walk up to that boy once again, Sirene looked scandalized with her mouth wide open, Andrew looked troubled himself but he took one look at his wife and then closed her mouth, "I'm sure it's nothing..."

Neveah waited as her daughter set the trunks down and passed one last look to her mother before running up to her aunt and uncle, "Oh my Merlin, aunt Si, you won't believe what happened the other—" she pulled her uncle into a hug which Andrew Rosier gladly returned as Lorelei moved on to her aunt, "—so I'm studying for the potions test, right?" she embraced her aunt and then continued to tell her the rest of the story as Sirene smiled softly to herself, Andrew nudged her and then mouthed 'I told you so'.

...

"Hi" Lorelei breathed out as she watched the tall redhead make his way over to her, George wordlessly pulled Lorelei into a hug, Lorelei returned it — Merlin knows the boy needed it, besides he'd been there for Lorelei almost every time and had even seen her cry, "How are you?"

"Been better" George shrugged, the two of them then walked into the kitchen where the rest of the people were, Lorelei saw her uncle Moony and her father talking to each other in a corner and Tonks was eyeing Re—

Wait just a second.

Lorelei looked at Tonks, and then Remus and then Tonks again — Remus was avoiding eye contact with Tonks and Tonks was trying to do everything in her power to get him to look at her without being obvious. Lorelei was—

"Oh, hey, there you are" Remus pulled his daughter into a tight hug, kissing the top of her head and then passing her one of his warm smiles that always made Hope feel better, "How was school? Professor Sniv— Snape give you any trouble?" he asked the kid and they started chatting up about each other's time away.

Lorelei stuffed her hands in her jeans' pockets and then looked around awkwardly as her father did the same and then Sirius got up making his way to her, "Hello" he said.

"Hi" Lorelei greeted back, Sirene watched the two with a shake of her head, "How've you been?"

"Well, I was stuck at this house so..." Sirius said adding a chuckle at the end of the sentence, "How was your time at school? I heard you got into a lot of trouble with Umbridge"

"I did, yeah" Lorelei said proudly, she held up her hand and showed it to her father who's eyes widened at the scar.

"Shit, El" Sirius said worriedly, "She's been doing this the whole time, isn't that fucking illegal?"

"Sirius, you're cursing again" Tonks said as she sipped her tea and Sirius turned to pass her a look.

"She keeps pulling out these 'educational decrees' it's kind of a nightmare" Lorelei told her father, "It's worst than when we had Voldemort for our teacher..." the father-daughter duo stayed in the kitchen talking to each other.

Lorelei thought that was quite nice.
